Sometimes I think the roles are always reversed in my relationships because I'm the one that gets told Nothing, Never mind. Whatever and Forget it. It's always my fault yet I never know what I did. So I just say "Ok, when you are ready to talk dear, let me know because obviously something is wrong and I'm not a mind reader."

Exactly. The notion that the ladies are perfect communicators and us men are not is part of the line of crap trying to be sold. Men are very direct. We deal with what you did; not how we felt about it. Ladies deal with how they felt about what you did. Both parties assume they are right and THAT'S 100% of the problem. Just because you have feelings doesn't mean your feelings are always right nor if he thinks you did something means he is right. If us men are so simple why do you ladies have such a hard time with us? And why hold onto grudges for something that happened 7 years ago? I can't make a single excuse before God about my wife. God isn't gonna say to me yeah I know so you are good. Nope doesn't work that way either way. So much as some ladies dislike hearing it - grow up. Not everything you feel, think, or say is always right. Same for us men. Maturity is recognizing that, having effective communication, and recognizing you don't always do everything right.

No, it just shows the difference between the male and female brain. A guy could be ready to fight someone to the death, but if you say " Bro, chill!", he'll probably do it. Say it to a woman and that just make them want to try harder. Good for S&M, bad for relationships.

That's not what it says. It simply means to calm down so whatever it is can be discussed with level heads instead of exploding tempers. Do you want a yelling match or a conversation? Also, if you actually believe they don't care about your opinions, thoughts, or concerns, why are you with them? The only reason to believe that someone saying calm down, chill, relax means they don't care about those is that you actually have a deep seat, unconscious belief that they don't care about your opinions, thoughts, or concerns. Maybe it's bad experiences from previous relationships with other people or how your current relationship with this person is.

Why does being told to chill make you so upset? He's not saying you don't have a right to be upset, just that in the moment let's work on the issue with level heads. Dudes if she wants to talk/argue while she's upset, disengage. Tell her you can discuss this when she's calmed down. That way she can't accused you of telling her to calm down. She can have her tantrum in peace. My question for those that don't want to be told to chill/calm down, is when have you solved a problem with high emotion?

  • @FLdancer00

There's a big difference between "chill" and "let's talk about this issue with level heads". The first is a command. The second shows care, thought and respect for the individual and the relationship. So, no. You can't just say chill and expect it to be received the same as the second phrase.
