I always buy my games off of instant gaming so I can pay $10-$20 for a pack rather than $50 to $60 I have a Mac so I’m too scared to try any other way to get free or cheap packs

I actually like this expansion, it becomes one of my favorite expansions. It gave me an excuse to make it a commune for single mothers helping each other raise the kids together.

I think the secrets are my biggest disappointment in the pack. I know the world has a bunch of rabbit holes etc, but the secret thing had the potential to add some interesting gameplay but it's essentially just a giant joke. Imagine if secrets were related to traits, or even to things the sims actually did. It could have allowed for so much more interesting gameplay and stories. Instead its just nonsense :/ I really hope someone mods it to be something actually interesting, even if it's frustrating it's something that needs to be modded.

Worse part is that it could still all be nonsense! It could be random jokes tied to Occults, Traits, Aspirations, Fears, et cetera. Since its just text and a icon they could have so much pack compatibility with these! Another let down is that you can't use the spy. interactions for strangerville with this pack, yet another compatibility miss out. What do we even expect from Sims Team nowadays? Its not like their higher-ups care about their community!

You are right. There’s not much gameplay to be an expansion pack. This should be an update on City Living or a game pack, that’s it. Even as a game pack I think there should be more to it. Back then expansion packs meant there would be a LOT of new things that adds to the game in general, not one thing alone. Anyways… thanks for the review, I always enjoy to watch your pov on the game.

There's really nothing to do in this new pack but I bought it so my globe trotter sim can provide rentals in each world he left babies. It was such a delight building each of his 30 ish kids their own spaces to match their personalities and families. Minimum rent, Maximum lease time. Love the new cas, and the activities for children ! The secret feature isn't great, random secret that doesn't match sims traits and becomes repetitive The night market is a joke, 2 opened stand a a lot of empty ones ? Why ? It lights at night ok but no one sells produce at least ?

you are my favorite Sims KZreadr. everything that needs to be said is there, honest and straight to the point, while avoiding unnecessary nagging that many tend to fall into. The sense of humor and the style, simply the best!

I honestly built all weekend with this pack and I am not a builder. Some of the ‘builds’ were renovations from the gallery but I hit the 100 unit per save cap in a weekend and I didn’t think I was anywhere near it. That’s how much fun I was having. I use the Home Regions mod to keep most Sims in their designated worlds, the apartments/multi-homes per lot of For Rent have been really useful for expanding the home populations of Sulani and Mt. Komerabi with specific sims who I didn’t have housing for. But ….. it is an overpriced building tool even if I am having a blast with it, I recognize that that. Also Tomerang is sooo small. But it is a second world for my mermaid population that actually has worthwhile swimmable water. I use to try to keep the mermaid population in Sulani, but happy to let them spill to Tomerang. And it actually has great Sulani compatibility since you can use the water vehicles to get to that private beach in front of the cave.

I see, so the new place is Southeast Asian inspired, as a Southeast Asian guy myself i can clearly tell although it is a bit of a combination of different Southeast Asian cultures but from the name it is clear that it is inspired from Vietnam and Cambodia. The animal sanctuary looks like what we call "Candi" which is ancient hindu and Buddhist temples a lot of them can be found in Indonesia (where i am from) but also can be found in many other southeast asian countries. The other huge temple looks like it was inspired from Phnom Penh Royal palace from Cambodia. Its a bit sad that they didnt put enough new things to play around in this place other than the rabbit holes that tells a story to show how "exotic" this place is. If i get my hands on this dlc i will definitely get my sims to live in here. Those marbles toys are very nostalgic for me since i used to play those when i was little too, just not as "sophisticated" as it is portrayed in the sims. Very happy with the new Rice cooker though, i wonder why they didnt just include that when they made Mt. Komorebi but well whatever maybe its only now that they realized most asian did eat rice everyday. I dont think i will get this dlc anytime soon though, despite everything.. the dlc is kind of underwhelming to say the least and by that i mean it look sucks.

@@exentine7693 Well the sun in Southeast Asia is kinda hot and we play it out in the middle of the sun squatting in some flat ground anywhere we can find while getting sweat all over our bodies as we toss the marbles against each other. Since our moms are hate it if we want to buy new toys and also because you do trade marbles during the game, when the marble falls into a dirty sewer ditch or a swamp that may or may not have snakes in it, you will go there and try to feel the marbel with your feet and then you grip it with your toes to take it out of the water and take it back home or continue the game. Searching for marbles in the dirty ditch or swamps is one way to start joining your friends to play marbles if you dont have any to play and you got no money to buy some. Its that kind of not sophisticated. Thinking back, i must be very stupid back then because now it doesnt matter if i am the only man in the house, i will not hesitate to jump on top of a table if i see anything that looks like a snake.

@@exentine7693 Of course there is always a chance that you might get a marble thrown at your face if you play against those who hates losing. If that happens, your marbles are mostly more precious than their face so instead of throwing your marbles away you should throw your hands instead.

This is the review I care about

This review was probably the best. I have seen so far straight to the point and quick. I don't need to sit an hour to find out the one question I have. That being said I want this pake. It came out right after I started my new save file. I am excited to add more homes.

As I watch more about this expansion, I leaning towards eventually purchasing it but I do feel like it could have been added to to other expansions (seems to be a theme with recent expansions lol). City Living could have gotten an overhaul and this could have been merged with it, but I havent played it so I really can't say for sure.

I'm torn on whether to buy this pack now or wait for a price drop. As for cost I can see how it's over priced, but I hope a fairly large family that is still growing. Being able to move a group of siblings or couples into a family compound would be extremely helpful. This would also be extremely helpful for cults. Make the community space a garden or put out easls and let the cult members get to work. I'm just torn on whether or not I want to wait.

I think they're trying to experiment with fewer but bigger neighbourhoods. The trouble is that I think there is a limit on how many lots they can have in one neighbourhood. That said, they could have made more bigger lots and thought of adding longer lots for row houses. I had my sim live in one of four townhouses and filled up the other three. I got maintenance events every day (no lot challenges on). I also got the pet adoption event twice in one week and also the charity event in the same week. I played 8 sim days and got no rent paid!

Just found your channel today. Getting hyped up for after Christmas, since I'll be getting a laptop to finally start playing The Sims 4 again for the first time since...late 2019? There's so much new stuff to try out, but that'll have to wait until I get spare money for the DLCs I don't yet have. Hope that all my data is backed up so I can get right back to all my families. (I'm one of those players who starts a new world for each family rather than multiple families in one world, but yeah.) Your videos have been pretty cool so far, though, so have a good one.

I didn't like the amount of lag I experienced after entering BB. I also didn't like that I had to move out sims to convert the rr lot type into a residential, though I do understand why that is. Also, I wished they had found a way to make rentals on the same lot accessible without loading screens... Overall, I haven't played it enough to really see how it changes my game for the better, I'm hella confused in general. But I like the options it introduced

Haven't spent alot of time on it but it leaves me wanting more action less rabbitholes more lots idk underwhelmed rn I'll give it more time

I'm really enjoying this world. I hope it grows in you. It's so pretty.

i got paid this morning and bought it, so i’ve only gotten a few hours of gameplay in, but so far i’m having fun!! to be fair though i haven’t experienced nearly as many bugs as everyone else. most of my issues have come from my lack of understanding of how the pack works lol. only real bug i’ve seen is that my sims feet disappear when they use the toilet, but they come right back after she’s done so i’m not all too concerned about it 😂😂

The fact that we also got maintenance problems for normal residential lots is probably one of the best things in this pack.

Heyy WhinyBritt I want to start off by saying I absolutely love you, your LPs is absolutely one of my favorites you’re so fun to watch. I wish I never purchased this game, this is my first time ever purchasing soon as it was released. I totally disappointed, the glitches is unbelievable ridiculous and I’m not impressed hopefully they will fix all the glitches and bugs. I love using mods in my game play, soon as I use them my female sim is male and I male sim is female it’s crazy. I hate this 😔

my personal opinion is that the rental system should've been a City Living refresh, and the rest of the gameplay (if you can call it that) should've been a game pack. In fact, most of the new packs feel like add-ons to older packs, that have a new world slapped on top in order to sell them for more money. I understand not wanting to make a bunch of new content for essentially free, but I still think it would give ea some marketing value if they just did a few more refreshes, at least for some of the older dlc like outdoor retreat or maybe even get to work... i haven't bought any dlc for the full price for probably two years now, because the pricing is just so outrageous at this point for the amount of content you get. (wow that was a long rant)

i didn’t like the expansion pack in the beginning, but as i kept watching something about it started to appeal me. maybe it’s because it is almost realistic without being too realistic (for a landlord and tenant life.) to real life. i do wish there was more to this especially for being an expansion pack, more properties- or events as well as even being able to buy rental houses from other sims. it’s be a neat idea. plus you can build the whole property however you want, and even live on the property that’s rented out. it’s a simple somewhat laggy at times pack but it really is unique for what there is out there for gameplay. this will absolutely give you a new creative gameplay stroyline that will absolutely be entertaining, and enjoyable.

I'm brazilian and we have an agreement that Phillipines are our asian cousins, it's kind of a joke due to a lot of similarities between both countries, so I really enjoyed this pack because this community living is common here in Brazil at the ghettos. Also all build and buy items are really similar to brazilian architecture, I just felt this pack like home. Even thought it's kinda disappointing over all others details but I really liked the gameplay and build/buy parts! I guess this culture fact makes us like more an architecture style than others! Love your videos, hope you're doing well

So did they finally fix the break in issue they never implemented? Where if you break in, even if they're home, they just don't care and pretend they don't see you lmao. That should've been day one release... They need to stop releasing half baked games, while still expecting us to pay premium prices! Never going to happen tho because every sims 4 pack for the last few years (actually longer, but I digress) has been cash grabs with little to no gameplay! They've been slowly setting the precedent that will take the shock from us when Sims 5 comes out.

This is actually one I’d consider buying. Like many have said, it could’ve been an update to the city living. I wouldn’t mind if the objects were a stuff pack tbh and I’d just buy that but you know EA. Money money money

I feel like the last two expansion packs should have been game packs. I’ve had fun playing with this, but there’s not enough there to call it an EP. Not to mention I’ve had numerous bugs because of it. I haven’t played as a renter yet, just a landlord so I don’t know what all comes with that. I did watch James Turner play his rags to riches last night. He’s playing as a renter and when things broke down he called the landlord and pointed out the problem, but he couldn’t get anything done to fix it. In the end he ended up paying to replace the broken stove. That doesn’t seem very fun. I feel like the sims just never do what they’re meant to do. Some people had neighbors home while they broke in and that sim just watched. Others like the landlord don’t come fix what they should be fixing. Sims walking through my sims apartment to get from the backyard to the front. It just doesn’t make sense. It’s like the lights are on but nobody’s home lol. I wish the sims themselves had more purpose, not just wandering around doing things, but doing things that make at least some sense. I know that’s not just a problem with this pack, but a problem with the game in general.

How does your game look so vibrant are the settings up or is it a enhancing mod?

Yes I'm disappointed of it too - I'm on the fence about it - 50/50 feeling.. therefor I'll wait for the sale (I think). The CAS and BB items look more interesting than everything else. I would like to see a KZreadr be the first to give us a review of How Effected is Basegame Play (Willow Creek/Oasis Springs only) now that S4FR is now installed but you don't use anything at all from S4FR. This could be an idea you could do in as a Series :)

i was beyond excited when it was announced, but i feel like i’d wait until it’s on sale, it just seems so lackluster. it’s the same thing as horse ranch, it doesn’t go much beyond what was advertised. like it’s cool and all but not as an EXPANSION pack edited for typos

I feel like this pack would only be good if used outside of its purpose. For example, if you made a werewolf only motel and added all the rules and created a good amount of shared space. Create like a werewolf fight club. Like, would they just destroy the motel?

I heard that one of the scandalous secrets you could discover was someone seeing a stray dog in the street, but this might have just been hype. Exciting times.....

I love everything about the pack, except for the glitches, but I think it should have had more gameplay overall. The idea of these packs is good, but not enough gameplay is adding to the game overall with this pack and past packs...one of the glitches is that it cost 5 billion dollars for my sims to rent an apartment for one day, but it's just one lot this glitch...I also think it would be nice if we could copy and paste a home as many times as we like on a lot, making it easy to have multiple tome houses/apartments...right now, you can only copy the rooms, so I have to copy each room and paste to make a duplicate version of the home. Downloading huge apartment lots from the gallery freezes the game; it's best to build the house on a residential lot and then make it an apartment lot.

I like the pack but I also have problems with the loops. In my case it is when my sims are gardening. And I couldn’t furnish the homes of my house which I wanted to rent, even when nobody lives there

One thing that disappoints me is that Tomarang has cold temperature in winter. It shouldn't, because Tomarang is based on Southeast Asia where the temperature is hot all year round.

I have a question so I just bought this pack and I don’t know how to like get the rules and how to like. Make sure I can break them because I want to do like what you did but I don’t know if I can change one of the already built houses that you can rent with rules I hope that made sense.

The EP is meh to me, but I am glad that owning rentals and renting out non-apartments is a part of the game now. That cave was a missed opportunity for another cute secluded beach location with a hut or something like The Bluffs (I think that's what it's called). I feel like the rental system should be a base game feature in TS5 (along with pets, laundry, active careers, and vacations) but that's wishful thinking 😂

I really feel this was a missed opportunity to introduce some of the Landgrabb's extended family to the game. But then they would have caught shit for their lack of relationships again, because we all know they would never have gotten that deep.

question: how can a player even use the wise trait for an elder sim? as I see it, you would have to either add this one in cas (so make an elder sim), have growing together pack, or use cheats to do that. because normally you can't add other traits to a sim, once you have chosen three. So if you play a Sim from young adulthood or earlier, you wont be able to add this trait to your sims once they get to be elders unless you have the growing together pack or use cheats. please correct me if I'm wrong.

I believe it was said by one of the gurus an elder (not every elder) can develop this trait during normal gameplay upon aging into an elder.

I keep watching game play and reviews, hoping to find something to justify buying it at expansion pack prices. Other than the build/buy, I just can't see the logic. Yes, I really want the rental feature in my game, but it's so one dimensional in its execution that it just makes me sad, not excited. I'll probably wait until it goes on sale to buy.

has it been proven that you can get beat up from breaking and entering? Satchonsims tried out the feature and got caught with no reaction whatsoever from the sim, so i thought nothing happened. I hope it was just a bug and that if you get caught you get beat up I personally would avoid buying it until they patch it up some more, while this doesnt seem to be happening to everyone the game has severely broken lot changing, meaning lots glitch out and get stuck or corrupted when switching lot types. Also build mode lags severely.

I kinda don't understand this reaction to the pack. The landlord gameplay aspect of the pack is just generally one of the most fuckin' weird things The Sims has put in a pack and it doesn't interest me at all, but I don't get people treating it like that's supposed to be the major selling point of the pack rather than how the apartment system enormously shakes up gameplay across every world. The impact of this pack is huge - there are so many storytelling opportunities that open up as a result, there are so many more functional build opportunities for single sims/small families, and it rejuvenated old parts of the game as well - like, with apartments able to fix the lack of small-lot housing in Del Sol Valley, it made worlds like that far more useful in an instant. There are certainly some weird things in this as well (the implementation of the secrets system was a "wtf?" moment in my book), but having played it I'd definitely class this as one of the most useful packs in the entire game and I think a lot of reviewers are missing the forest for the trees,

Yeah...def not worth the expansion pack price. I'll happily wait til it drops to $20 I'd also like to see quite a bit more integration between the already released packs. We can train dogs and horses but not cats, nor is there competitions for dogs like there is for horses. Being able to use the Vet for horses would have only made sense, but....EA. I'd also like the option of removing the pronoun option for Gallery Sims. There is no option to be rid of them if the creator has utilized them except to place a (.) in every slot under 'custom' to be rid of them. Treats for horses (more than just the rare found Age Up treat in the Prairie Grass) should have been included as with cats & dogs. It also seems the available lots are getting fewer and smaller as the 'expansions' come out. 'Less Bang For Your Buck & A Bunch of Shit You Didn't Ask For' should be EA's new motto.

I'm gonna be negative here, simply because I agree with all you said. This new release should have been a game pack and not an expansion. I feel totally jipped buying it at $40 US dollars. Definitely wait till it goes on sale and or they fix what has been broken. I only played with one rental lot, 16 sims and a fresh game. After a short while my game crashed and then refused to load. 🙄 I'm not surprised that it was this terrible. EA is no longer selling expansions for Sims 4 but rather ideas and gimmicks thought up by their brain storming groups that they used to have every month. I think we're coming to the tail end of Sims 4 and before we know it they'll be shaffting us with more crazy prices for Sims 5. 😡

the new rental lot is the only good thing. everything is underwhelming and actually pretty boring especially how the entire idea was surrounded by BEING A LANLORD but gameplay as one is just boring. its better to just play a regular gameplay and your sim happens to own the lot

its so sad how so many simmers were so exited for this pack and it turned out quite dissapointing...as usual

the way i see it, this pack is good but weak. it doesn’t have the glitches that other packs do but it achieved that by avoiding the more difficult coding. underwhelming but not a pack that i’ll avoid entirely

Based on reviews of this pack I won’t waste my money. Sad.

This is a game pack AT BEST! We need to stop giving this multi-billion dollar, money grabbing, under delivering company our money, they're taking the piss now with these "expansion packs". This is NOT a $40 pack. I'm so mad about this, it's an ongoing thing with EA and it's just getting worse. They treat us like idiots, talk to us like toddlers and expect us to just accept being fucked over by them over and over again. Even their "gameplay trailer" showed absolutely nothing. Their whole selling point of TS4 loading screens was that it had less rabbit holes but this whole world is all rabbit holes

This whole EP makes the world created with it completely superfluous. The gameplay doesn't cut is as usual bc of major glitches to the main gp like getting paid rent, the snooping is pointless less, break in are ignored, secrets meaningless. The builders will enjoy it but I looks like a convoluted. After MANY reviews, ill pass.

I think that it is one of the best expansion pack - but Im playing the sims just for to make my dreams come true 😅🥹I make a beautiful sim who is overwhelming rich😇 and have the best job (when I can choose to work at home) and some properties to sale, be an landlord who do really little and get all that life can give: multiple lovers, money, comfort, stunning townhouses in the city center or victorian mansions. Oh yeah. I can do it all days long🤣🤣🤣 have all without stress and effort😇😇😇
