This is LITERALLY how all my sims saves go. There's even an official 50s Housewife/Homemaker Challenge on MTS. It's so hard! No leftovers allowed, fresh cooked food EVERY meal, host a party every FRIDAY in game, every kid gets a bday party,, etc. I even make it harder by trying to get perfect todlers and children without actually controlling them, only influencing them with my parent skill. I do control the teens but only to apply for scholarships and to rebel so my parents can master the parenting aspiration. I even require my "main" parent master ALL "domestic" traits. It is so fun!!

@@oats1932 cooking (ofc), baking, mixology, gardening are the basic ones. Gourmet cooking, flower arranging, knitting and cross-stich are good if you have a few packs. I also like to add singing and dancing so that my sim can host better parties. And, to really lean into stereotypes, I reserve fishing and handiness (also fabrication and juice fizzing) for my 'dad' sim. If you want an easier time influencing the kids also try and develop the research&debate skill to atleast 7.

I usually have the Sim in the homemaker role prepare party size meals when they have some extra time and just stick them in the fridge. That way when everyone gets hungry, they can just grab something. It's really challenging to try and get everyone to sit down for a proper meal (since they get up and move around anyways) and they never seem to be hungry at the same time.

I have a homemaker save that goes pretty similarly, but mama has help. It's "set" in a 50s style home. Mama gets up at around 4 or 5 every morning to serve breakfast, dad is in the military, and they have a daughter. Mama is a freelance writer, though, so she also has to do that during the day when the toddler's asleep. They used to have a live-in maid to help, but she fell in love and got married and moved out to start her own family. So, dad's older (spinster) sister moved in to take over. She's a lot bossier than their former maid, so there's some tension. Dad is preparing to go to war, so there may be some drastic changes soon. 😬

I was absolutely shocked (it's a mod...I'm not sure the survival rates as this was the first time I used it to send someone to war). So...last I played them, they were prepping for is funeral. On top of that Dad's dad (Grandpa) had lost his wife when Kid was a baby, and then he passed just a day or two before Dad. So, Dad's younger, University-aged sister will be moving in, too, since she was left all alone. I'm still very shocked that we lost him. I didn't expect that at all, honestly. Oh! I almost forgot...Mom is pregnant with their second child, which she found out the day he left. 😭

Having a homemaker sounds exciting and all, but I prefer my sims to split everything 50/50. Sometimes one of them stays at home doing more, but the other one will tend to pull their weight too, that way they both can have enough time to do things like go on dates, work on their skills, go to the gym etc.

yes, I have done this challenge, with a dog and chickens (1950's style) breakfast on the table at 7am dinner on the table at 6pm. kids and animals needs met, bucket and line laundry. She also had to have a dinner party once a week. Teenage girls were required to help around the house but the boys didn't have to. The husband had the romantic trait and was not denyed. So the kids just kept coming. Daughters married off as soon as they were old enough and all the boys went off to the millitary. I ended up with 9 kids and played for 3 generations the 50's 60's and 70's with a change in home technology and social changes. I sometimes pick it back up, but omg its a struggle.

I love challenges like this. I remember in Sims 3 where my Sims didn't have a butler and maid for ones I had one male Sim going to work while his wife staid home. I ended up finding it really interesting to look after the household, the cooking and the garden. It felt rather satisfying to have everything done by 5 so that even dinner could be served in time. Of course since cleaning was a skill back then she eventually ended up with being a speed cleaner and cook which meant she had even gmmore time left for other things, such as taking care after the children with their homework once they got home.

I have that laundry pack and the bust the dust, but I seriously never use them. My sims have enough drama without dealing with laundry or other cleaning nonsense. Best for me is wash dishes, or throw it all in the trash. I don't care. I give all my toddlers a tablet so they can learn on their own, and they get the independent trait when I age them to toddler in the first place. So hands off.

Most of my saves have atleast one sim home doing all the house work. My most played save recently was just the storyline of and 18 year old with really conservative parents that got pregnant by her bf and so they got married. She was a housewife and when she and her husband were adults I made the husband cheat and so they go a divorce. She’s now remarried with a step kid to a sim I named Kamaji Kamisato. It was actually quite fun to play with her.

Never seen or tried it as a challenge, but I have thought about it. I tend to micro manage every sim in the household, so it would be a fun way to only be able to control the main sim. If you really hate yourself, try with all lot challenges enabled, in a haunted house, (lot traits: cat hangout, dog hangout and vampire nexus). Laundry and dust enabled, of course, and you can't look at the other family members needs, or control them in any way, you can only influence them through the main sim.. Now, that would be a challenge! But yes, a small house is key! I made it to 20 kids in the 100 baby challenge, and I made a hyper efficient and compact 'factory', lol. The less they have to walk to get to things, the better.

This is how I run my game in the Sims 3 😂 three kids, two parents. mum and dad work in the political career. If there's no breakfast, mum or dad (whoever has more energy) gets up at 4:30 so breakfast is done by 5:20-5:30 (they take forever). Everyone else gets up at 5:00 so they can shower, go to the bathroom, brush their teeth, make their beds and do whatever else they have to and have breakfast by seven (I also do this because the other parent needs to help the toddler and call a nanny). Everyone leaves by 8:30, and while their gone, I set up a cue for them for when they get home if they didn't finish something before they left. They get home at around 5:00 usually. Whoever has more energy cooks dinner if there is none while the kids do their homework. Toddler and one of the parents have first showers, then everyone else. After dinner, I make sure everyone is clean, fed, tasks like homework or after work jobs, toddler gets put to bed with the kids, then the parents do whatever they have to before they head off to bed themselves. This is all to save up for a better house, a pool, and a car

Ugh! I've been having that exact, same problem with the high chair recently. The adults just won't use it. And, when I invite neighbours over, they steal things! So. MANY. things. My counters, my coffee table, my TV, my computer! Bastards!! They didn't even have the Kleptomaniac trait. :(( Stupid glitch.

If you have Eco Lifestyle then it's likely not a glitch but the stupid "Sharing is Caring" neighborhood action plan

@@MusingsThoughts Ah. Thanks for letting me know that. I do have Eco Lifestyle, but I haven't had Sims steal from my Sim before.

You're gonna wanna repeal that sharing is caring when voting opens up again in the neighborhood. In the meantime you should send your Sims to their neighbor's homes and "share" some of their items. 😉

Humm can we give our kids and spouses lunch money like 3s for kids and 10-20s for adults I'd we don't pack a lunch. Or tell them while they are out at work or school to grab lunch from fast food or vending machine. >.> struggles

Like is there a mod for that. I remember my dad giving me 3 dollars for the bus and lunch money like 3 more dollars every day and I'd skip lunch to save and buy anime every week and a pop

@Ivan Peixoto yes they do. But I was thinking more of the American nostalgia of having to pay for school lunch and work lunch. Here we have some kids who's parents have to apply and be accepted into a program for reduced or free lunches depending on parents income. And if we wanted a snack that isn't a normal part of lunch we have to pay for it also

I know this is from a year ago, but I have to say that's why I dont have laundry pack or the cleaning one. I do this kind of gameplay a lot because i like to play legacy families and it's much easier without vacuuming and laundry lol. It also gives the mom sim more time with the children

Don’t forget finding time to play one on one with kids. As someone who lives this, there is never enough time in the day to do everything you want. 🥲 I still play like this in the sims though so obviously something about this life is addicting 🤣💜
