I had previously tried to get the Sims 2 working on my new custom pc build as it is such a nostalgic game to me :) but it was still very glitchy. I just uninstalled everything and did a fresh install of the games ultimate collection and then followed all of your steps and it works perfectly, so much better than before. This Graphics Rules Maker fixed my SIMS 2 startup error on Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. Thank you. I thought I could never play it unless back on Windows 7 or XP. I just clicked the tab to Auto-Detect the best settings. I really had not needed to change Windows compatibility mode to get it working. When you first start the game it goes in 800x600, but in the game options settings you can adjust it to higher resolutions since you are able to save those resolutions in Graphics Rules Maker program. @@devilishsimmer0101 yes, I might understood were I messed the last time, where you I mitted "8000MB" I writed 1024, because the other guide said that more than that it's gonna crash the game. I have a rtx 3050, so probably has the same capability of your 1070, 8GB of VRAM

I had issues trying to get this in 1920x1080 and was forced to run in windowed mode due to the DX9 error at 640x480 with no other resolution options. It turns out that the issue was the fact that I was running the game at 120hz when it should be run at 60hz. I reccomend downloading Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) if you can't change to 60hz in settings -> display -> advanced display -> choose a refresh rate to get a 60hz option. Now I can run the game fullscreen borderless at 1920x1080.

This works for me! I have a i5 14600KF RTX 4060Ti 32 Ram

The link in the description box next to the title "Graphics Rules Maker:" does not take me to the same website you show in the video. Instead, it takes me to the shadow fixer on Mod The Sims (which I suspect I'll also need). I just googled Graphics Rules Maker and found the site you show in the video, so no problem there, but I thought I'd let you know. Unfortunately, after going through everything here, I'm still unable to run the game. It starts up, but crashes. So my quest continues. EDIT: As it turns out, I'm just an idiot. I realized belatedly that I ran the Graphics Rules Maker program on Sim 2 Bodyshop rather than the game. That's what the Rules Maker defaulted to and I didn't even notice. 🤦‍♀ It seems to be working now. Thank you so much!

My current ultimate collection I got during ea's free give away years back. But I've had I'd since release on the original CD's

im sick of sims 4 gameplay only being interesting due to mods, badly need them to make the TS4 gameplay at LEASTTT as interesting as the old games because even when you have all the DLCs the game is still pretty bland😭 thanks for the tut! now I have something to distract myself during summer!

These are only some of the most common fixes to issues that I know of/had, I am afraid it is just trial and error and solving them till something works.

is there a way to play it without the cd thing? sims 2 from what i've read is abondonware and there is no way to legally buy it and there are only some fishy stores or websites that require you to have a disc which i obviously neither have nor would have any use for since no modern computer has cd reader. i tried using programms like wincdemu, but no matter what, i still get the message to put the proper disc file

Unfortunately, these days you only have the availability to either buy old CD copies or download off of cracked sights. The only other solution is to install old CD versions onto your computer and download a no-CD crack which would allow the game to run without the CD.

Hi, I have a big problem. No matter how many KZread tutorials I can find ... But I haven't found a solution. For each tutorial, there are additions and modifications to be made to the game: however, I can't do them because I don't have access to do so. (As if my game were totally protected) What's more, it crashes every time I start it up, despite the 4GB Patch being installed... I have a Sims 2 Double Deluxe disc, on CD drive (Windows10) Would you have a solution to my problem? ^^' Thanks in advance 😄

The 4GB patch won't fix the games start-up problems, that is for graphical glitches in-game, such as the pink texture flashes. The crashing it from not detecting the correct hardware to run, so forcing into windowed mode or the graphic rules maker would detect these issues. The issue I can presume would be if you are only trying to run the singular game mentioned. Most tutorials and fixes are based around having the whole set or at most a lot of the later expansions and packs, as a lot of the eariler games problems are fixed via internal updates from those later expansions. In short, your issue might be a fix that was fixed in a later expansion pack.

I've been looking up tons of fixes, but nothing works for me. Every time I try to run the game it says "Failed to find any Directx9.0c compatible graphics adapters..." and every bit of troubleshooting I've tried has never fixed it

You just need to find a site where you can download a version of Directx9.0. You may already have it installed as most versions of the Sims 2 files automatically install it however your computer graphical settings automatically search and use the most up-to-date version of DirectX. You will have to look up ways to set up and command your computer to use the required DirectX you require, similar to how we edit the graphic rules to detect up to date graphic cards in order to use them as a default.

You will have to disable or bypass your anyivirus software. Depending on the antivirus software, some do not like downloading stuff it does not recognise. I have never had any issues with viruses due to the graphic rules maker. However all softwares are 'download at your own risk' depending what sites you download them from.

Where did you go too download the game? That's the issue I'm having...

The game is no longer officially available to buy, EA removed all sales of the game back around 2014ish. I got my game back when it was still available. The only way to get the game now is by hard disc copies, second-hand off the internet or by downloading from piracy torrents online. Occasionally KZreadrs will give out copies of the game through competitions like I have done myself during my 12-hour Livestreams.

Unfortunately, due to the programs being created by Modders and not registered companies, anti-virus softwares do not like these downloads. To download them, anti-virus softwares require being deactivated.

Does it works with CDs of the sims 2?

It should do as long as you have the complete set of expansions and stuff packs, this is due to the changes that are being made residing in the latest DLC files and not all options are available in earlier file folders.

It didn't work for me and it said it was a virus.

Sorry this hasn't worked. There are other, much rarer issues that can cause problems. Sadly, I do not have the answers to fix them as I've never come across them to fix. What came back saying virus? If you are referring to the fixing software you can download, if you have anti virus softwares enabled on the computer, it will reject them. Anti virus softwares need to be deactivated to download them, they do not like these modder softwares as they are not official company products.

These fixes will not resolve playing a game that requires a disc. If you have a disc-installed copy and need to play without the disc (Lost or don't have it) you will need to download a "CRACK" file to play the game without the disc.
