It's a glitch that makes the car think its in a jump zone when it's not (jump zones have high speed acceleration). It helps with getting out of bounds for the next glitch.

@@erjuanjojj there is a checkpoint, he has to go back to get it when he goes through the boat, if he doesnt turn back there he wont be able to finish the mission

@@erjuanjojj by taking a short cut through the boat and resetting the car, it resets past a necessary checkpoint for the race. so he drives back to hit the check point and then finished the race. if you listen carefully you can hear a ding when he's turning around.
