This is great for just making content. Although, mine does this weird thing where it starts selecting certain shapes only and not the rest of the image. I've updated my AE recently and I don't recall Puppet doing this last time.

Save your character as a png file

Import as footage rather than a composition. That will merge all layers and keep it as a vector, which scales better than a png would.
