@@SamsungCarper it does, I allways leave about 1/4 inch tag end when I snip to allow for any slipping that might occur so covering up failsafes to help overall presentation helps me round off my rigs nicely 👌🏽

Very well presented, a joy to watch. Would you use the ronnie with criticaly balanced / or bottom baits?

Thankyou M Schmitzquadrat, very much appreciated. 100% I'd use it with balanced baits, i tend to like my pop ups to settle slowly on the bottom, especially if the bottom is abit weedy/dirty. Ill add weight or trim the pop up untill it sinks like it's walking on the moon. Bottom baits i prefer a german rig ( i have a video on this rig also) but you can absolutely use a ronnie rig for anybait thats intended to hit the bottom of the lake. Id exclude the ronnie as an option for surface or mid layer fishing, id stick to a knotless knot/hair rig for zigs and surface work. Hope this helps and you bag the fish of a life time! The Korda hybrid stiff is great for crimping, I like to use crimps as they’re very strong, plus you have the benefit that rig putty grips to it perfectly. We all have our own preferences of course, ultimately, it’s what you’re confident using. Good video, thanks 👍🏼

I agree with crimping, ive used them in the passed but always find myself just tying a knot these days, saves getting the crimps out, the pliers then then dreaded "i hope that doesnt slip" second guessing. Plus for a tutorial on a simple ronnie not everyone has pliers and crimps, its extra cost to the rig that when it comes down to it, doesnt really need a crimp just a sturdy well tied knot. Hope your enjoying the content, any recommendations on new content is also welcomed! Tight lines

@@bertharding1987 20lb hybrid stiff is the only coated braid I’d crimp Bert. For all you non crimpers, just stick to what your confident with using. I just find them super strong and once you’re used to them it’s very easy and extra strong and the crimps cost pennies. As @samsung carper said the Ronnie swivels are better to use as there’s just more movement and you also want to have it through the front of the eye on the hook as the way it’s put on here closes the gape a bit so may hamper your hook holds, so just hook the Ronnie swivel through the front of the hook but that’s just how I like to do them. I’d also put the hook bead on the small end first so the ring swivel can travel up and down the shank of the hook a little more freely. Again, I’m not criticising … it’s just what I find works best for me. Check out Darrel pecks video too. (Just search crimping hybrid stuff) this will still work well and as Mr Samsung said - it’s a choice 👍🏼

Great video very detailed. I am yet too make one of these but I am eager to try. I am just wondering if there is a hook link that is good for both types of surface ie weedy and gravely? Thanks

Hi harry, i use the korda semi stiff for both weedy and gravel, i just change the length of the hooklink, ie, longer lengths for weedy waters and shorter rigs for smooth/gravel bottoms. Also weedy waters i may use a heli style lead set up to help the rigs sit ontop of any weed/debris. Have a play around theres no set rule as to how stiff or supple your hooklink needs to be. 99% of all.my rigs are made from the korda semi stiff.

Great video, but how do you attach the other end? Is it via stick grip or stop bead. Can you use with an inline lead system??

Hi millie, the other end i tie a figure of 8 loop knot and use a quick change clip with a silicone sleeve over it. You can also tie it directly to the swivel on your lead clip providing you use an anti tangle sleeve. This rig can be used with an inline lead set up just be mindful about how soft the bottom is if an inline lead plugs into silt it could leave the hooklink all wonky. Light weed, silk weed leafy choddy bottom you'll get away with an inline lead.

Just a quick question, at the other end with your lead system, could you use a speed bead to attack the hook link?

You can tie the rig on loads of ways, i just loop the ends because i find it fast. Some people tie it directly to the eye of a swivel. A fogure of 8 loop knotnis a very strong knot and it also make for changing rigs easy, not cutting off old rigs etc, just unclip and on with a new one. Always cover the clip with a silicone tube or a tail runner wtc, helps stop the rig finding its way off the clips, they have an uncanny ability of doing this. You cna bet it will always be when you have 'that' gish on the end aswell.

Please show under water how the rig looks like after making the rig as there are various heights to the rig and what size pop has been used as well to balance the rig

Hi shalan, the size of pop up doesnt really matter as every brand, flavour and size have all different levels of buoyancy. Typically i got for a 15mm pop up. To balance it i either trim abit of the pop up off and test it after each little trim untill im happy with how it sinks....or....i use some tungsten putty around the swivel barrel, that way i know the height it will sit, this will be from the eye of the swivel to the top of the pop up roughly 25mm -30mm off the bottom. But obvisouly this all depends on how solid the lake bed is and if there is any weed etc.

One more question do you tie a eye/swivel to the top of the rig to attach to your rod or just leave the loop? Thanks.

I loop the end of all my rigs and then use a quick clip on the end of my leader. Persoanlly i use the silicone sleeves to then cover the loop and quick clip because if you dont then loop has this funny knack of finding its way off the clip, so always always slide simething over the clip. Certainly not! It's best you use the same products from your preferred company. But you can mix and match anything, that's how you"ll find out what works best for you, your water and the fish you're targeting. Treat this as a guild on what you can do, and experiment with similar things.

Personally i dont like crimping, and if i do its only ever with a thick bristle filliment like boom or IQ. The line im using is korda's semi stiff coated braid. Because its coated ill always tie off with a loop knot. Its gives me the confidence. Ive messed a few rigs up before when crimping, over done it with the pliers or not enough and the coating slips.

I’ve tied this rig mate and tested it and my hook is laying flat to the bottom. Any suggestions? I’ve tried balancing with putty but still no joy. Thanks

If your hook is laying flat on the bottom to me, it would suggest you're using a wafter, which is a semi bouyant bait, it's half pop up half bottom bait. This rig will work with that type of bait also, but if you want it to pop up, you need a more bouyant bait. There are two ways to do this. 1st buy some fresh pop ups they'll cost around £5-£8 for a tub. 2nd you can add a foam/cork topper, drill out the bait u have and put a cork dowel into it. Add putty will only make it heavyier you need to go lighter.

Id have to disagree. There isnt one rig you dont have to mess about with. Whether its a simple knotless knot rig or a rig with 50 knots and a ton a metal. The ronnie rig is tied the same everytime as swivels and hooks stay the same length if you stick with the same brands.

I'm with you. All this faff is not for me. To each their own. Tackle companies love selling all these extra bits. A hook on a line usually suffices.
