The Simple Interface That’s Surprisingly Capable | Lewitt Connect 2

Фильм және анимация

Sometimes you just want to connect an XLR mic or 1/4” instrument to your computer. The Lewitt Connect 2 is an interface that gets out of your face so you can get down to recording, podcasting, or streaming. If you want to take things further, it has a feature-rich software application that opens up a lot of cool features (but does currently have a few bugs too).
With the ability to set input gain automatically and realtime “ClipGuard” to keep your audio from reaching dangerous levels, the Connect 2 is a solid choice.
Its biggest competitor is the 4th Gen Focusrite Scarlett Solo, which is significantly less expensive. Both interfaces are excellent, so the determining factor really comes down to design and software preferences. While I personally love the visual appeal of the Scarletts, the Connect 2 is undeniably practical and has been a genuinely surprising joy to use.
Lewitt sent the Connect 2 to me for free, but I’m under no obligation to make a video or say anything specific. Read my Ethics Statement about objective reviews, sponsorships, and brand partnerships: himynameistom.com/ethics

I feel like this is something they can iron out, or be more clear about in the documentation. It seems like it's fun with any hub when it's just being used as an audio output, but as soon as you connect a mic (especially once that needs 48v), then things get weird and it needs either an active hub or to be connected directly to the computer.

Maby using better usb cable (or as short as possible) for that device may solve problem with device. USB devices which are low on power received, quite often become buggy. If its using usb 2.0 than DIY usb cable from usual UTP/FTP network cable might be the best (just make it long enough, use 3 wires for "+" same for "ground" and rest 2 wires for "data +" and "data -" ). 20 minutes to solder, cheap as hell, exact length you need, no problem with amperage ever... and often can be made using connectors from same not so good USB cable.

EDITED MIDWAY TO ADD: not gonna lie, I was only 15 seconds into the video thinking, "man, this setup sounds kinda cheapo." It almost has a headset vibe. The low end is just almost gone and it sounds really nasally. And I'm listening in an acoustically treated studio on monitors that are professional. I think Lewitt is pretty innovative but their sound is just way to sterile and boring. But mostly this just doesn't sound "good". Sounds like a Fifine or something from Temu. EDIT:::: ok, wow, I skipped forward to the control center part and I was like, "wait, now it sounds solid..." so then I went back and see that you swapped to the Sm7b. Man, it sounds soooooooo much better than that Ray. Like a world of differnce. At least however they are setup in this video. I'm not even a huge Sm7b fan. I mean, I like it, and I think haters are mental, but sure, its not the end all. Anyway, that made me for real not love the Ray hearing the difference when you swapped.

Which microphone do you like more the Lewitt Ray or the Shure SM7b?

Oooh that's a tough one! I tend to lean towards condensers personally, so I guess that'd be the Ray. But I do love the SM7B!

@@tombuckcRAYzy how fast you answered me thank you very much :) I like to buy the Lewitt Ray and the Lewitt Connect 2 in the future. Maybe do you can review the MOTU M2/M4 Audio interface and show it vs the Connect 2?

Not working through a hub really is a deal breaker for me…I wish my old iMac had more than two usb c ports!

It might be different with an “active” hub that has its own power supply, but I’m not sure.

How would this compare to the Rode AI 1?

The AI-1 had some pretty awesome firmware updates recently so it’s quite awesome. I would say the Lewitt is definitely a bit more modern and advanced though, with better preamps.

I honestly don't know. Might be a separate headphone amp that can really get things going?
