The Silly Duck Wizard (Stop Motion)

Hi there! I'm a wizard, but I only know dumb spells about ducks.
Over the summer I had access to Sheridan College's stop motion studio, so I put together this little mation for you :)
The wonderful voice acting was done by the talented and hilarious Animator and Voice Actor Davey Swatpaz. I asked him to voice act for me after I had a lovely chat with him on my podcast (terryibele.com/animation-indu.... I knew my animation time was limited, so I came up with this idea in about 30 seconds on my couch and emailed it to him. I was superjoyed when he said yes! If you'd like to know more details about how I created this, read on!
*The animation was shot on 1s at 24 frames per second.
*I used Dragonframe and a Canon DSLR to capture all the frames
*The background is a big white plastic sheet with 4 studio lights pointed at the ceiling above to get a nice and even bounce light to cover everything
*Everything you see is made from dollar store items - felt, beads, plasticine, shiny paper, styrofoam balls, etc. I think I spent $50 overall on all materials and I have mountains left over (like I needed 2 blue pompoms, but I had to buy a giant bag of like 150)
*I edited out all rigs in PhotoShop (oof!) and compiled the video in Premiere
*Overall, this took me 3 and a half months to complete. I spent two full months shooting 3-4 times a week (full 8+ hour days), then I did post in my spare time over the next month (3-4 hours a week)

I love stop animation films. It amazes me how much work goes into it, and adds to the beauty of it. Great work. Love the duckies, i like to imagine the last wand poof turned duckie back to a baby

@@terrymation I would be able to support like 5$ or so next paycheck :D I'd love to pay that to see for example a view of the setup used to create this, a video documenting your work process or timelapse of a days work, how you make models etc :D Those things dont require lots of editing, just do it vlog style! Also it could be a signed picture of the wizard for higher tiers, any signed merch or stuff - just a picture of the wizard and ducks, maybe with "terrymation" included somewhere would be a great starter design!!

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve seen any stop motion this smooth before. I was curious and slowed it down to 0.25x to see each move that the wizard makes, and even then it’s still not slow enough! The movements are so fluid; I couldn’t have asked for a better stop motion animation. It’s funny, silly, and just all around good fun. Good luck in the future! I really hope this helps get you somewhere.

If you use the keys you can move it frame by frame if you care to analyze it closer. I did that for the ending with the duck and wizard turning into smoke because I was curious how he did that.
