This is awesome! Being a kid of the 80's that had one of these games, I enjoyed every minute of this. Great to see people actually interacting together as humans instead of being chained to a screen. We need more of this!

The way you guys show the game is great. Its tv friendly. No one wants to see, shift, pivots, start, stop over and over. Just run the freaking play already. How about the guys sound like real announcers which the best leagues lack. Good stuff.

1080P and high fps slow motion replay would be huge for production quality. Every new phone today can do that. Furthermore explanation about rules and strategy to teach new people about the game would be great.

This video was shot and edited in 2004 - 480p was the best my camcorder could do. It took some pretty advanced software at the time just to get the score bug in the corner. If I ever make more EF videos, I'll film in 4k@60fps

Is it hard to find the old teams? This seems like a good thing to play on the weekend with some McDonald's.

Most of the teams in this video are hand-painted with custom decals for the numbers and logos.

Sorry to hog the comments. Since he passes often like me. In defense my 4/3 defense is 7 triple threat figures. The height negates him bending his qb for an easy pass

How many plays per team each half?

They don't use a play count - they use a clock. 15 minute quarters - the clock runs continuously, except on a change of possession. In the last minute of the half, and last two minutes of the game, NFL rules are used (clocks stop on incomplete or out-of-bounds, etc.). Except, on an incomplete pass there is also an 8-second runoff. Each team gets 3 timeouts per half too (stops the clock).

Some leagues use the clock. Others use a play count methodology, usually 8 plays per quarter. Some rule sets divide the game into two halves. One hobbyist years ago, Buzzin' Brine, developed his own system of "possession sets": alternating sets of four downs to drive the length of the field. Each team got four or eight total for the game, sort of like baseball innings. There are a number of different timing/game length systems that have been developed by hobbyists over the years, and it's simply a matter of what works best for the particular league or the particular hobbysts, especially for solo play. There are more solitaire players and solitaire leagues out there these days and they can make the rules as they please to make the game work best for how they need it to. Just start exploring the various EF groups for ideas.

Too many men on the field on the first play. In Electric Football! Hilarious!! (Complete with the obligatory counting of the players.) 3:18

when we played in the late 60,s early 70,s we turned up the knob / volume and the players actually tackled making the game more realistic. the plays were quick just like real football. try it and you won't go back. we never repositioned players multiple times in one play as they do today. this is not how the game was meant to be played. it drags out the game..
