Possibilities about what this actually is in relation to _Something Terribly Offensive:_ -A sequel. After seeing him bop someone out of existence, a cult was created worshiping him. -A misinterpretation. The “bank” in the first one was misunderstood as a river bank. -A prequel. The dude was so dead set on cleansing evil through head bopping that the demon he bopped corrupted him, ruining it for everyone.

A perfect monomyth! 1. The hero lives in comfort. His boys support him and he has plenty of heads to bop. 2. The hero is challenged. The comfortable world is starting to fall out of equilibrium, but the hero doesn't change, he perseveres. 3. The hero is forced to confront an unthinkable challenge. 4. The hero's darkest hour. The narrative lingers to give the audience a feeling of suspense and dread. 5. Catharsis! The hero triumphs in a satisfying way. None of the rules of the narrative are broken. 6. We see the tragic cost of victory. The hero will never be the same.

This actually seems like it takes place before the original video. In the original the protagonist had a bandage over the same place that gets wounded in the end. Judging by how he possessed demonic power at the end, it was probably the power to bop people out of existence just like how he did with the old man.

It seems to me like when the demon smacks the guy around, it's not a taunt. It's encouragement. He knows what he's been summoned for, and judging by his jaunty shuffle into the water, he's enjoying the whole thing. But the Baptist is feeling lightheaded, and his eyes are starting to drift after so many bops. So the demon smacks some sense back into him, as if saying "This is the moment you've been working towards, get your head in the game, boy!"

Think about what a demon is supposed to represent. It's an ultimate almost unrivaled horror, so of course it would dismay the senses and go against all natural law. The scariest thing about it is the way it casually lets itself be escorted and slaps the bopper around, clearly understanding human limits and customs. Do demons come up from hell because they are bored, or do they have an obligation? If demons are suppossed to be strong, did it let itself get bopped from the back, or is this ginger minister some kind of super human?

@@JohnnyNova I find it really satisfying and funny. Something about the disjointed movement through the setting mixed with the uncanny nuances that come with rotoscope animation. I took to calling the "shuffle" to myself, and Drue does it the best.
Literally everybody here has such a fixation on this video and repeats it for the combination of love of Drues animation, the chill inducing story line of the short, and ultimately the absolute sublime wonder of minute hours vocal harmonies in the climax. It all comes together in an addictive fixation to play it again, again, and AGAIN! It’s absolutely nuts and I bet many will agree. I don’t just watch it all the time after just finding out about it a few days ago, but I also just keep replaying the thing!! @@owenhunt As long as the moral center is correct, you should intend to expose them to this sort of thing. That's how they get to 16 thinking demons are cool, instead of why they're going to turn 30 with no kids and a deep hatred for existence. Doom classic should run in every orthodox, catholic, and protestant church. Sandy Peterson is why we have shotguns in doom, and also made Romero remove a keyswitch with jesus's face on it, so you wouldn't have to step on it. The religious right really fucking missed on this, and I will always remember and remind the world of the depth of their pathetic, despicable failure to make use of that moment in time. Stop being a moral hawk in the forum, but a moral coward at home.

@@shoopoop21 Bro gothic media either makes you sadder, or makes you weep with laughter until you go evil. At best you gain the ability to manipulate people using the arcane arts. At worst petunias and freshly cut grass will become anhedonic. Your name is amazing btw. Makes me think of a Tom Waits song.

I still think this is a prequel, and is the reason his boys are always with him.
True art transcends meaning and has limitless depth. In order to bop you need shoes and a body, words to live by. Fantastic video!

@@SledTillDead I figured this was the sequel, because he was just bopping that guy who said the offensive thing, then said guy disappears/transcends, then he and the boys made a religion trying to reproduce/spread the transcendent experience.
This is the most powerful vocal performance of the century - and undoubtedly of my life. Ive made it only a quarter of a century on this Earth with you all so far, and this performance will be a part of me and the rest of my days as i press unto eternity. I know now that there is truly much more in this world to be experienced, to be shared, to be cherished... and although i know not what more i can - and will - say... i know exactly the kind of passion and vigor i will say it with! I will scream my words in such harmonies that it will shake up the heavens and it will quake in the hells... and the Earth will know it for its' admittedly fleeting moments yet will know it still, unmistakeably. From this moment forth: i am absolute; i am immutable; i am restored
Can somebody tell me why I watch this, like, at least once per week? I've seen it probably 10 times now. Every time the algorithm puts it in my feed, I can't help but click on it, knowing fully well what it is. This might be the personification of the perfect video.

@@redwolf915 Rick and Marty is too nihilistic, and self congratulatory, South Park is cool but it's too much of a social commentary for my taste. I prefer comedy that doesn't have strong philosophicalal messages. There's books and podcasts for that, when it comes to comedy I just wanna laugh because what is happening or being said is funny. I don't wanna laugh because I feel like I agree with some message I'm being preached to about in an ironic way.
