We badly need the Victory-class Star Destroyer to appear in live action. To me, I think Thrawn's Chimaera could be a refitted Imperial I to the Imperial II.

As far as I know the ISD2 lacks point defense. But in Ahsoka you can see that the ISD1 has lots of smaller guns. Great against rebel fighters.

I'm not super up on the timelines, but given how Thrawn liked to be on the cutting edge of things, I don't think it would be out of line to say the Chimera had "unique" upgrades over the standard Imp I... maybe it was field testing some of the Imp II's upgrades? Also, I want to see more Raiders... I mean the Gazantte (sp?) is cool and all, but after seeing the Corvus in action, I /really/ want to see more of it's class in the live action...

I have a theory that depending which show thrawn shows up in next that he gives the shadow council his orders for them and hopefully puts pallion I think that’s how his name is spelled in charge while he he goes home to the chiss for support and comes back later with chiss star destroyers and claw craft (they’re made canon)

If we could just, for once, could we please get a Victory class on screen? Even if just in passing. Or an explosion; I'll take it.

Thrawn pincer And Thrawn Interdictor tactics would be the justice for Victory Class , which Thrawn recognised for the Awesome Damage output in smaller time by its Broadside Assault concussion Missile tubes

I thinks it’s likely that Palleon kept a chunk of the 7th hidden away in anticipation of Thrawns return. Not enough ships to beat the new republic but it would be start.

The Empire in general was lacking in light and medium ships in general

Dreadnoughts, or at least a ship resembling them, were part of Thrawn's blockade fleet over Lothal in the final episode of Rebels.

The shape of the Dreadnought class always reminded me of a battlestar without the flight pods.

In order to save money they can still use the Katana fleet storyline but change them from being a old Republic fleet to being a CIS fleet. That way they can reuse the prequel trilogy models to save on time and money.

They'd have to change the design to make them not resemble the light cruiser in Rebels that looks like the og Dreadnought. Or maybe just say that the Empire stole the design from the Separatists? That could work.

Same, especially with Rebellion. So many good memories of that game, even if it was rudimentary and "death of a thousand clicks".

I feel like we’re also likely to see a couple of Raider-class corvettes used by the Neo-Seventh Fleet, Thrawn would probably love that kind of ship.

Maybe we will finally see the Vindicator-class Heavy Cruiser get the recognition it deserves.

Well the Vindicator is canon, they use the Vindicator's design for the canon's version of the Interdictor Cruiser

The ironic thing about not having a Katana fleet subplot was that was one of the few times in Star Wars in which a find the map to the next map to the next map etc ,that Disney Star Wars loves so much, actually was interesting and impactful.

@@DIEGhostfish yeah its still LEAGUES above stuff like Darksaber or the Jedi Academy trilogy, but the plot does a lot of running around and backtracking that relies on dramatic irony you xant fully appreciate until you’re finished. And then, if you go back with full knowledge, you get frustrated that they chase so many dead ends like “great, Lando and Han are on a submarine for a chapter- and oops, it was actually a waste of time”

This is a pipe dream. However, imagine a venator star destroyer still running. The main hanger opens and swarms of tie variants come out including the defender. This might work as thrawn loves his Defender and also the venator would've been a good carrier/cruiser

Most likely he'd get a Lucrehulk with Hyperdrive Tie fighters (cough cough De Fen Ders cough) with out of range carrier platform than frontline yolo ship

Thrawn did use Loronar Strike Cruisers in his battles, including at Bilbringi. Such a modular multirole medium cruiser would make sense for the Imperial Remnant to be manufacturing at this point in time.

The Nucanon Chimera is an ISD1 refit. It has ISD2 Ocuple Barbettes (which in the orbital bombardment scene for some reason hit like measley hand grenades) and now that the UGLY giant X targetting array is damaged, she can return to the beauty she was always meant to be.

He would most likely have a large light cruise fleet or raider class corvets

Considering Thrawn was in a galaxy far far away, he would have drafted the world's native population to be his new soldiers and laborers, build bases and grow and strengthen his forces in order to prepare his return.

Peredia seems to have been mostly barren for a long time. It’s doubtful there was much of a native population to begin with, and one I-1 Star Destroyer wouldn’t be carrying with it the infrastructure for much more than a forward operating base, assuming it could still do that _at all_ in the state the _Chimera_ was in.

I think it was a missed opportunity, did Thrawn stay in that one system all the time he was stranded or did he explore the surrounding systems? His Star Destroyer wasnt present when they first arrived on the planet but it may have been hiding elsewhere in the system, Thrawn strikes me as the kind of person that would have kept his ship hidden from potential enemies in the new galaxy.

Except he clearly didn't as the Chimaera lacked Hyperspace capability and was confined to Peridia for the 11 or so years he was stranded there. What we see in Ahsoka is pretty much the extent of his resources.

So glad you mentioned the Carrack, the Strike, and the Lancer... I'm over here rooting for all the ships from older sources like the roleplaying game, the game "Rebellion", and of course the TIE and X-wing series. Imperial Nebulon-B/B2? Yes, please. Escort Carriers? Sure why not. Screed's Gladiator class? the Tector? The Vindicator cruiser? The so called "Dungeon ship"? The Arc Hammer? (This one makes sense, retool it as a mobile shipyard/fighter refit facility so Thrawn isn't tied down to a planetary body and can remain mobile). a Torpedo Sphere? Assault Gunboats, Assault Transports, TIE Defenders and Advanced? I'll take them all. I have no delusion that any or all of them will appear, but as long as we're dreaming, might as well dream BIG.

what might be also interesting to see that did not existed at the time the Thrawn books where writen: Clone Wars Ships! You could also write a Storyline that they tracked down a Lost Fleet of Recusants that was in transit the moment Vader shut down the Droid Controll Signal and that got strandet in Deep Space Or well, something new would be also always nice

If the Katana Fleet does return, they'd need to distinguish the design from the Dreadnought-inspired light cruiser from Rebels. Maybe they could just say that the Empire used the Dreadnought design lineage when making their light cruiser?

I think that, if we do see Thrawn build up a new fleet, we need to see him largely adopt the Carrack class. If it's done well, it could explain why we haven't seen it canon so far for example: have some older Imperials complain that it's too small and can't fight capital ships but have Thrawn demonstrate its use against New Republic starfighters, maybe show a group of them absolutely shredding an enemy of squadron while the duels a Nebulon-B or something. If you really wanted to you could even fabricate some new lore for it by saying that the few that we see are sent by the Chiss Ascendancy which incorporated Imperial technology with Chiss ship construction techniques (Maybe have a certain Commander Vanto personally deliver them).

Wouldn't it be funny if the new Mon Calamari cruisers/frigates (whatever) we saw in Ahsoka ended up in Thrawn's hands? We saw several of them, we also saw a shipyard building more. A lot of the Rebel Alliance's ships were stolen from the Empire. Flip the script.

I think Thrawn fleet will be either a Venator, Acclamator or Arquitens. Disney has plenty of pics of Venators and Arquitens so they’re most likely but I’m hoping they’re Acclamators. Less fire power than a Star destroyer but more than a light cruiser. They’re also faster and require a smaller crew (700) and would be perfect for hit and run with their .7 hyperdrive and cheaper to build allowing mass production and wolf pack tactics.

I want to see the hundreds of remaining Star Destroyers that we hear and see from the books, some Chiss ships like the SpringHawk, Vigilant, and GrayStrike. If possible maybe even see the return of the Katana fleet, maybe even the early phases of the First Order commanded by Grand Admiral Sloane

No. It's not. Thrawn does this all the time in the books where you think he's doing one thing but that plan is a diversion for something else. Also SWT has really fallen off the bandwagon and become everything he claims to dislike. It's a shame.

I could definitely see Thrawn acquiring the Katana Fleet early on after he regroups with Shadow Council allies at Dathomir. If Ezra has informed the New Republic about his return they will have likely reinforced the living hell outta their shipyards and capital worlds. But them not knowing how his fleet will grow will be the crucial secret for him that gives him the element of surprise. How will the New Republic be able to respond when they're expecting his flagship and *maybe* the rest of his fleet that was forcibly removed out of Lothal, only to run into the Katana Fleet and later the reinforcements from the Shadow Council that most likely have fully-stocked ISD-IIs, Victory-IIs, Lancers, Carracks, Strikes, Immobilizer 418s, Arquitens Class 546s, Gozantis, and Raider-IIs?

The only issue I see with introducing the Katana fleet is the amount of backstory that goes along with it. Given all the elements that were introduced in Ahsoka s.1 I think they’ll substitute the Katana fleet with the new class of cruisers the New Republic were using. Built by ex-Imperials perhaps Thrawn can commandeer them at the flick of a switch.

No, but you can see them briefly during the Battle of Lothal when Hera leads a sqaudron of X-Wings and Y-Wings to try and take out the fuel depot on the surface

What´s interesting though, is that according to Wookipedia, Imperial-1 star destroyers in Legends indead have point-defense cannons(40), whereas the canon versions lacks them.

If they do bring in the Chiss I could totally see a few Tie-defenders along with a Chiss counterpart show up. Because I’d I remember right Thrawn doesn’t like swarm tactics regular Ties used

After returning from a galaxy far far away, Thrawn should find the Katana Fleet and add them into his forces.

Not so sure on the interdictor craft, as the ships in canon are described as rare and expensive, I can’t imagine many, if any, are around anymore

Given how tactically smart strategically adept Thrawn is, suspect, he will make use of a variety of ships within his fleet, be they ISDS, Frigates, light cruisers and anti starfighter ships and well as interdictors to lessen and address the weakness of imperial fleet's vs the rebel fleets during the galactic civil war.

I for one, hope that EC Henrys Nebulon B frigate will be part of the fleet, that one seems to me, to be an ideal candidate.

You know what would be crazy cool to see Thrawn do is use psycho warfare and make use of stolen new republic x wings a wings and more maybe painted fully black

I would love it if they introduced the katana fleet. they could retcon it as an experimental early separatist fleet equipped with a central control module not unlike that which controlled the B1 battle droids initially. Sprinkle in the backstory about the clones uploading a virus that corrupted the control module, launching the fleet Into a permanent hyper space jump. Fast forward to present, there’s a fleet of ships just beyond the outer rim, assumed destroyed, but just out of gas… just waiting to be found. This would be remarkably close to the original storyline, and could be introduced in any number of TV shows in any number of ways… might be a great way to tie in the Mandalorians, who would be looking for any way to efficiently defend/keep their planet

Nothing that the yards at Bilbringi can't fix up... oh wait that would involve bringing something from legends back.....

This is a small theory of mine but I think he is going to use the night sisters to get more ships. As a have a feeling Thrawn is going to maybe go to ship graveyards to start resurrecting dead crew meambers to crew his ships and maybe he will find the Katana fleet and resurrect the crew. As there wasa skeleton crew on the vessels and a actual crew who would probly by dead. So it makes sense if thrawn wrecks havoc with a katana dreadnought.

Id like to see what thrawn could do with the Xyston class

Since you mentioned the Criminal Underworld, remember that the Super Star Destroyer Annihilator. Was captured by pirates. Thrawn could end up launching an operation to recapture it. But one ship Thrawn has never been seen used I want him to utilize is the Secutor-class Star Destroyer. I’m imagining him using it as a dedicated Fleet Carrier.

Annihilator was a bad joke. The Invidious was incredibly hard to run for Tavira, and the Errant Venture almost impossible to run for Booster. An entire Executor class is an impossibility for anyone without a substantial territory.

@@DIEGhostfish If I remember correctly, the *Annihilator* was just used as a mobile pirate base since they don’t have the manpower to man every station. Still enough to maybe destroy a few capital ships, but not enough to handle an entire fleet or to defeat boarding parties. I think that’s what Thrawn will do. Have his fleet distract the pirates, and then using the Thrawn pincer, get transports close to insert Special Forces and let them mop up the pirates. From there, it’s up to Thrawn on what to do with the SSD.

The more StarWars one sees the more you wonder where the radar guided auto point defense/light turrets are… and why such large ships don’t have more automation. That and anything remotely large has to just suck for long distance travel when trying to consider fuel and food due to a lack of automation.

Hear me out, I really dont think its going to happen. But a Andor style of show could work really well for a Thrawn show. Each "Arc" would be him gathering supports, resources, ships or allies. At the end it would be him at his full strength for whatever series or movie that will bring about his defeat/death. Like say we spent a set of 3 episodes of him getting the cloning chambers he gets in the books, or maybe one arc him finding out about and finding, the Katana fleet, another on his raid on Sliuis Van. I think something like that could be pretty cool.

I don’t remember it being said that chiss ships are less technologically advanced, I would love to see the chiss however. But I don’t think it would be possible for Thrawn to be giving them information until now that he is back or through Eli Vanto when he sent him to the ascendancy

Zahn did say he wants to write more books on what happened during Thrawn's exile, including a non-Thrawn book from Eli's perspective on what's happening in the Ascendancy during this time. I think it would be an excellent plot point if the Chiss develop some kind of long-range communication device and this explains how Thrawn is able to contact his allies (both Chiss and Imperial).

I wonder if the Chiss ever resume their trading with Lysatra because of it? Eli did say that the Chiss used to trade with the people on his planet hundreds of years ago.

Thrawn with a Venator the "Typhon" (one of the parents of a chimera) as a flagship would be great. Combine that with tie-interceptors and bombers for short range support and tie-defenders as hyperspace capable long-range strike craft and Thrawn would be unstoppable. -Support ships: 1 small interdictor, 2 munificent cruisers for fire support and anti-starfighter (Thrawn has been shown to be fond of separatist technology in canon, if we need to stay imperial I think gladiator sds or dreadnaught heavy cruisers or strike cruisers), 2 imperial nebulon b frigates, 2 lancer frigates, 1 raider corvette, a stealth IPVC-2 corvette (submarine), and a few gozantis for resupplying.

An onscreen appearance for the Victory Star Destroyer is LONG overdue.

He's gonna use gr-75s and dominate the new republic that's how good thrawn is XD

The sensor array, the ISD 1 has a large tall and squareish one, the ISD 2 has a low one.

ISD I has a taller tractor beam targeting antenna with X-shaped pillars vs. ISD II’s shorter π-shaped communications antenna Apparently ISD II also has no point defense cannons unlike ISD I, but i’m not sure if that’s immediately visible in the model

The ISD I has a taller sensor array compared to the ISD II, thats the most identifiable way to distinguish the two. Other smaller differences are that the shield generators on the ISD II sit level to the sensor array compared to the way they follow the slant of the bridge superstructure on the ISD I. And last major difference, the main rack of main battergun flanking either side of the lower superstructure on the ISD I are double barreled, on the ISD II, They're octuple-barreled.

Maybe a canon reimagining of the Katana Fleet concept with a large number of Acclamators and Venators that were never scrapped?

Anyone else ever play around with a Rat-Fleet? Imagine youre a badass Engineer, get acess to a warehouse of various, say, Rebellion Era ship parts. Kit-bash, like you were on a tight budget. ? Whats your Comp, what do you want to use it to capture? Work your way up the tech tree.?

If its anything like the books he may find the katana fleet made up of dreadnaught cruisers.he ended up with alot of those. They were pretty heavily armed.

What are the odds that despite Thrawns charachter being against planet killer terror weapons Disney will have yet another Death Star analogue thrown in.

ISD's with lots of Imperial Venators, and scores of Arqitens.

The admiral will steal the new ships of the republic, thanks to the magic of the sisters of the night...an updated version of the katana fleet idea.

I doubt thrawn has access to a large amount of manpower (in canon), and as such I doubt he has the necessary manpower needed to man a large amount of ships. If the capsules he brought back into the galaxy turn out to be hibernation pods, he has a decent amount of manpower, but I still think far from enough to man a fleet like the katana fleet from legends. If we however assume the fleet to be made up of different ship types, e.g. a seperatist fleet, filled up with B-1's, even if we have to account for an 80% system failure rate for the droids, we should definitely have enough troops to at least move the fleet where necessary.

I think, at this point we are going to have to taper out expectations...I think Dave would rather be a little more straightforward in his story telling and probably give him ships that more aline with where the First Order ultimately goes. I imagine we'll see lots of Imperial 1 and 2 star destroyers. I would love to see Thrawn employ some more dimensional tactics. You know, like more true to character lol. I think it would be really interesting to see the old rebels get a taste of their own medicine, but with some imperial flavor.

If we don’t see him play 5d chess with the NR fleet and slap them around, I will be disappointed

My hope is that he some how finds an old Separatist fleet as a fill in for the Katana Fleet. 🤷

SSDs, isds, interdictor, and defenders at least should appear

The thing about ISDs not being able to enter atmosphere is really stupid given we see thing like core ships land then an entire super star destroyer being landed on coruscant

When you mentioned Hux and the first order I immediately remembered that no matter what those Disney series will always lead into the dung-tier sequel trilogy and my interest plummeted really quickly…

I really they show, atleast a little. How thrawns gets his ships and see him gettting them. Not something lame where suddenly next season he has 10-20 ships XD
