Amazing beautiful set! I am still blown away by the fact it was a set! It looks huge! The stained glass is so beautiful. I want to write in that room! Jack was lucky. Halloran was right when he called Jack an asshole, lol. Beautiful artwork! It is like a church.

Agreed. I used to work with 4000 watt Mole-Richardson lights. Any plastic near the front would melt immediately. I used the spun-glass diffusion material and even that would get holes burned into it. I wonder how the heat affected the wooden set framework? I imagine you would hear a lot of cracking and snaping.

I experienced the same thing when I was a lighting technician in the theater with a 2000 Watt ADB profile spotlight. After 2 weeks of performances, the color filter had a dark burned spot in the middle. So I replaced the filter every other week.

I suspect the ceiling was inspired by the LA Biltmore. Kubrick was influenced by it for the gold room for sure. I am not sure the Ahwahnee could have this ceiling. I so want an excuse to stay there and see it in person.

That's definitely a very valid excuse to go to the Ahwahnee! I wish I can visit the Ahwahnee someday too. I think the ceiling was inspired by the Ahwahnee. Below is a link to a virtual tour of the Ahwahnee. If you choose 'floor plan' and then go to the 'large lounge area', you will see that the ceiling has enormous similarities with The Colorado Lounge. The difference is that the Ahwahnee has an ocher color instead of white, but the patterns have clear similarities. my.matterport.com/show/?m=CTbTVMivGuc
