well when you cash out for a top of the line mustang, you dont wanna see one of the few top of the line indicating features of your car flying around on lesser models. ford knows this, so they wanna keep their top of the line mustang customers happy.

I would take this over the GT500 any day! Since this is being discontinued, I hope there will be a proper successor to this beauty!

There's probably a two way valve. In other words, when you're in sport mode, the exhaust actually takes a different path (probably bypassing a muffler) then when it is in normal mode.

The GT350R has a red badge ,the 350 has a gray badge.

Not knocking the 500 but I'd rather have the 350R for a few reasons. Manual yes, but also the gauges... I don't like the digital of the 500... I like the N/A as well. No fender air scoops on the 500 either. I'm glad it's different, but it is different in a way that I'd prefer the 350R.

It truly is special. I like to give people eargasms when they look and admire because before I had one, I’d wish they’d do it for me. I usually saw non R 350’s out and about but I drive mine often (10.5k miles). I’ve only see a couple of R’s in public so when I see one, I get excited.

The difference between the 350 and the 350R is minimal. Most of the changes are in the wheels, the spoiler, and the 'deleted equipment'. From a performance point of view, that's it. And, if you want a quick and dirty way to identify the 350 from the 350R - the Shelby badges on the front and back are not silver/black, they're red. (I know all this because I work at Flat Rock assembly... I drive a few of these every single day...)

Every time I watch a review about someone test driving the GT350 or R version, the reaction is the same. They cannot wipe the grin from their face. I have a 2016 GT350 and the feeling is always the same, I cannot believe that I own this amazing piece of machinery. It only looks like a Mustang and seriously, that's where it ends too. If you have this car on your radar, I highly recommend you getting one because it truly is that amazing.

I think you mean "AMG took a page out of Ford's book" and not the other way around. Ford has been putting a plaque signed by the engine builders on every motor out of Romeo Niche Line since the 90's. My 1996 and 2004 Cobras both had that "hand built with pride" engine plaque signed by the 2 builders.

Doug, your'e a car guy. How could you not mention that it's a flat-plane crank V8? That explains the great sound and the screaming 8200 RPM redline! That's the biggest part that makes the GT350 special. Firing order is similar to two I4's in a V bank. Outside of Ferrari, a flat plane crank V8 is super rare!

Magnetic suspension was invented around 2 decades ago, thing is, it was too expensive to be used in vehicles efficiently, but I’ll tell you what, I’ve driven one of these and these are by far one of the best mustangs I’ve ever driven, feels like ur in control, and it feels and is fast, and it’s very very cool imo

Doug, another way to know an R vs the regular gt350 is also the red badging. On the base 350 it is gray. You only get the red exterior badges in the gt350R

I’ve sold 3 of these brand new back in 2017/2018 each one was $10-15k over sticker I think Doug should take that into consideration especially because that’s pretty common all over the country

That sound is an awesome growl. One of the best exhaust notes I have ever heard

Doug is the kind of man who would make a video of him going on a date with a girl and showing us her cool quirks and features 😉

Hey Doug , how do you rank the overall experience of driving something like the mustang gt350 compared to a slightly more dated equal like an e92 m3? Would you say these cars are really worth the hype, despite the trade-offs of plastic and poor fit or finish compared to a more dated e92? I do know the mustang is the faster car but just wondering....

It sounds beautiful. Like angels came down from heaven and put a heavenly trumpet in the exhaust.

Doug, do more homework. It's extremely easy to tell the difference between the R and the base GT350 without looking at the wheels. The R has red pinstripes on the over-the-car stripes with a red rear badge, the base GT350 has white pinstripes on the stripes and a white badge on the back.

This car is very filthy

White is the easiset to keep clean. That and silver. Black is the worst fading/cracking 2 to 3 times faster and you see every spec of dust. Looks like cig ashes on the floor board and hes been ripping down gravel roads.

Or maybe, it's not there because weight reduction. Every little bit counts. Auto-manufacturer's don't car if their customers can work on their cars. In fact, they would prefer their customers not work on their own cars, and bring it into the dealer.

Might go without saying, but the GT350R does have an additional cosmetic difference from the GT350 other than what you mention: red badging on the front and rear and red pinstripes around the racing stripes. But with a lot of GT350 owners installing R-styled front splitters, grills, and spoilers, plus doing the resonator delete, the red accents are about the only way to be sure what you're looking at (or hearing) from the outside.

I’ll agree….I had one for the weekend. Always needs two hand on the wheel but every noise is a fun noise. 🤘

Hey Doug, just so you know- all the SVT/Shelby Mustangs since 1996 have had the plaque under the hood signed by the engine builder

This video convinced me to buy a GT350R. I love it, no regrets.

Funny how blank switches are cool in this car but not cool on the civic type r video. Just watched these back to back...

TougeHorseman, well, when the blank switches on the Civic come with, like, ANOTHER Civic's power stacked on top of that?! Blank switches in a Civic feel like you couldn't swing all of the options. In a GT350, you feel like you're lowballing other cars, including other Mustangs. You feel like you have a SLIGHT edge....

If we are talking about the same Civic R review I watched, then I have to say, while you were watching, you weren't paying attention probably. In Civic R, there're blank switches, and they do not cover for anything, meaning, no other Civic model variant has anything in place of those blank switches, they are just there to fill the spot. On this Mustang, in contrast, those blank switches are actually not blank in other models of Mustang, and that's the difference.

They have a cut out for the exhaust. When it’s on normal the valve is closed, and when it is open it is in sport mode

Mustangs are a fun car. Preowned 2015 - 2017s with low miles are easy to find for a good price. Add a cat back exhaust and some lowering springs and you are ready for a good time. If you want to get nuts, you can supercharge it but that's an expensive day at about $7,000. I love my 2016 GT.
