Looks like is based on Abe story, but is not technical him. Is a f**k off Del Toro gave to the studios, since they don't let him film a Hellboy 3 movie. And since he is good friend of Mignola, I think he will let take a lot of his original story.

This movie has already won me over. I love this kind of story, one that possesses unexpected depth and hidden meaning. It's about time these stories return to the big screen.

There isn't a Hellboy 3 coming. Sadly we'll never see it from Guillermo. He wanted to make it, but his budget was higher than what the studios would provide. They weren't "huge" hits moneywise. The Hellboy you're talking about is a reboot of the franchise.

I read here a lot of comments about any Abe Sapien (from the "Hellboy" comics, then movies) movie, sort of prequel - yeah, it would make sense a bit. But never forget it could also be some sort of twisted Lovecraftian love story - the HPL's mythos isn't limited to cosmic figures... And Del Toro is also a huge fan of the Providence's writer.

P. E. R. this is 100% an Abe Sapien movie. He loves eggs. it's also directed by Del Toro. Which if you watched Hellboy then he (Del Toro) kind of took a big role in those movies.

Something I never understood is the argument that "we were created in shape of the Lord. Does that look like the Lord?" Well yeah puppies don't look like God either yet you're not torturing one of those.

Hellboy was discovered during World War 2, this looks like it's set in the 50's, so similar period. Abe can talk in Hellboy though, whereas the creature in this appears to be mute, so don't think it's a direct prequel.

What wonderful cinematography and art direction. Every single shot looks amazing and gripping.

Love the fact that there is no more "looking forward to see this movie" type of comment in any movie trailer, but instead what i would call "meme jokes". It is wonderful.

This has a real neat "Bioshock" type of feel to it.

The creature looks really cute.

Just watched "Happy-Go-Lucky." She was amazing in that. I hope Sally Hawkins wins the Oscar for Best Actress this year. Her or Frances McDormand. But I'm really hoping for Sally. She's never won and isn't one of the popular ingénues Hollywood likes to reward, so I would really like to see her with an Oscar on her hands come March 2018. Plus, Guillermo's movies generally go unrecognized by the Oscars.

StickyVideos Dude, he never "walked away" even after the second film didn't do as well, Del Toro said he would like to do a third, but since the third movie would have to be about Hellboy bringing about the Apocalypse, he felt that story would have to happen in the comics first. Anyway, this is obviously an Abe Story. The "creature" is blue with darker blue stripes like Abe. It eats whole eggs like Abe. It's said to be incredibly intelligent, capable of speech and responds to classical music. Lastly the creature is being played by Doug Jones. Nathan Dunn i kinda doubt it. Just because the creature has similar coloring doesn't automatically mean it abe. When it comes to aquatic creatures blue and black a common clu scheme. Also in many different media about monsters and mysterious creature, them liking classical music is actually pretty common. It's possible that it COULD be an origin story but remember that abe's origin story is much different then the one shown in the trailer. Besides if a franchise is going to make an origin movie about a character then they usually tell the fans before hand in order to generate interest and see if it will be successful BEFORE the trailer comes out. It most likely that del toro simply borrowed aspects from abe as he was the closet thing he had to a reference.

That's the way most trailers are these days, they all follow the same format, and they show and give away too much.... as opposed to years ago where they just showed enough to get your interest. Here on KZread, just as examples, check out the trailers for ''Ragtime'' ''Amadeus'' , ''Poltergeist'' . The original trailer for ''The Exorcist'' , among the best which is that it starts with a simple narration, and cuts to black and white flashing images cutting back and forth really fast.

Onislaughter wrong fish man, I'm afraid. The Creature is owned by universal and this is Fox. This appears to be an origin tale for Abe Sapien, the fish creature from the Hellboy series. Tho he was inspired by the Creature and it seems like this story no will borrow even a bit more from those movies with him now being from the Amazon and the implied love story between him and a human woman.

I'm certainly excited, but I don't think there is much room for doubt about it being Abe. It has the same color scheme as him (light blue with dark blue stripes) it eats whole eggs like he does, it's supposed to be incredibly intelligent and it's bring played by Doug Jones (same actor who played Abe in Del Toro's Hellboy movies) all of that together is a bit too much for a coincidence. As for the Creature, if Universal every gets their monster universe of the ground, we will eventually get a new Black Lagoon movie. The last word was they were hoping to get Scarlet Johansson to play the woman the Creature falls for.
