Not because she has something to hide, but a mix of just not wanting to tell people and she likes messing with others.

Sonic Battle also went for the "working for the government to pay off her crimes" angle, except it's even funnier than the comics' execution because the government explicitly gave Rouge diplomatic immunity in exchange for her services. So she's a double agent working for the government, saving the world on the down-low, but she STILL goes around stealing jewels and valuable artefacts. Except this time it's on the government's dollar. Rouge is truly living the life.

It’s kind of a shame that we haven’t gotten as deep of a backstory for Rouge as we have for the other characters, even in Archie. I think in Sonic Chronicles she mentions having a mother but other than that, nothing. I think Rouge a pretty cool character for her fighting abilities and the way her friendship with the dark team is depicted in games like SA2 and the 2006 game. And I hope she appears in the 3rd movie, now that GUN exists in that continuity and she could become an agent. Not to mention now that Knuckles is in the movies it would be cool to see his romance/rivalry with Rouge. Plus I would love to see the internet’s collective freakout upon the reveal of a photorealistic CGI movie design for her. I’m quite surprised how far the games and Sonic X have played up Rouge’s sex appeal. Like I’m sure SEGA is well aware of the kind of FREAKS UP THERE who would drool all over her. Lol

Fun Fact: After SA2, Sega wanted her to have a less provocative outfit (Sonic Heroes), but reverted it back because the new outfit made her look even more provocative.

I do love Shadow and Rouge as a team, they mesh well and in heroes their bond grows even stronger

@@TronicSSJ07 I would disagree since Knucouge has had actual ship tease, while Shadouge mostly exist because of a strong friendship (unless I've missed something), and chemistry, and I just like that close friendship and chemistry, but that's me.

Oh, not everybody can pull of an origin of rouge the bat without a lot of game cameos, great work!

I actually think (even if it's pretty comical) her being super forward in Sonic X adds to her personality in a good way in my eyes lol She reminds me of Bayonetta in that regard. And I love Bayo!

Rouge and Knuckles' relationship largely going nowhere is sad, but also sadly not unexpected, given that Sonic Team largely began shelving Knuckles, the original Sonic Rival Character, in favor of Shadow, and of course there has been the recent push to downplay the secondary characters entirely. As someone who always preferred Knuckles to Shadow, it's a pity.

In my opinion they shouldn't shelve knuckles but more have him as a extra sidekick for when sonic and tails really need him

Cmon now blowing up half the moon was all Eggman. If I recall correctly it was Shadow that set up the dynamite packs not Rouge. She just had to steal the emeralds. Having Rouge (and later shadow) be a government agent strengthens the lore in which it shows the relationship between humans and mobians which I like to see more of. I would like to see a game where human NPCs and anthro NPCs interacting with each other.

Usually when it comes to media with animal characters and human characters (like the Godzilla movies for instance) I never care about the humans and only want to see the cool animal characters. But with the Sonic series I do wish they would explore the human side of Sonic’s world more and just how they view south islanders (or mobians, whichever they’re called in the games) now that Tails Tube has confirmed that Sonic’s earth is just split into separate continents (one where all the humans live like Station Square and then the other side with places like Green Hill Zone and such). It definitely would be cool to see a game with both human and mobian NPCs living together.

I’ve always thought she grew up really poor and that’s what got her into thievery, treasure hunting, and taking up shady jobs to get her way. This idea could’ve also contributed to her vanity, selfishness, and materialism, not wanting to look back on her life in poverty Honestly Rouge not having a backstory or implied to have one but only revealing hints of it really adds to her allure and mystery, like it’s up to the audience interpretation on why she is the way she is now

The show was released in America on a Saturday morning segment ov WB called 4-kidz. They were notorious for Americanizing anime and censorship. Glad we ended that era.

Rouge is literally the Ada Wong of the Sonic universe, secret agent femme fatale. In it for herself but with a heart of gold.

Cool, sexy, fun and a good heart. Also her personal theme songs consistently some of, if not the best songs in any games she appears in

I love this and the intro! Hahaha Also, maybe nails is too close to tails and they didn’t wanna confuse folks? Who knows. But Nails would’ve been cool.

Lol the intro! I too also love seeing character concept art, it's always interesting seeing the designing process. Her final design kinda reminds me of a "kid friendly" Jun Fudo from the Devil Lady anime/manga haha. Keep up the great work

Honestly I always think Sonic Team take liberties from classic anime/manga without blatantly making it obvious. I can definitely see some influence from. Jun Fudo even if they don’t explicitly say it 😅

Jesus Christ, the dub for sonic X may not be optimal but at least I could show I child it with no issue- sub pulled no punches

I'm pretty surprised that there is little development history behind Rouge, unlike almost every other character before her. I would have been interested in what the idea was behind her inclusion, beyond the stuff we know already from SA2. And not to mention, why she got the somewhat sexualized design that she became infamous for. I mean, we got characters with similar proportions to her prior to her inception, such as Sally Acorn in SatAM and the Archie comics and Tiara Boobowski in the forever scrapped Sonic X-Treme. But it was Rouge that finally got into the games, so I'm curious.

He said he has told Sega on making her a native on Angel Island with the logic that she is really good at hiding. Sega said no to that idea but if Surge and Starline are anything to go off on, he is cooking a way to get Sticks on Angel Island somehow.

It feels like she would be Knuckle’s rival and female rival would be Blaze and same for her. Anyone agree? Lol

Perhaps, but wouldn't it make more sense for Amy to be her rival? I mean they embody the opposite sides of femininity, both are hard hitting women who'll knock you out if you cross them, and they also are close to their respective hedgehogs. The issue is that Amy had so little to do in SA 2, that they really didn't have any potential rivalry, especially when they're the only girls on each side, making it a pretty big missed opportunity.

Without Rouge, Shadow and Omega would either get nothing done or destroy a city within minutes. Depends on how angsty Shadow feels that day (Omega is always down for robo-genocide, and possibly regular murder.) Rouge isn't necessarily a better person, but she sure is easier to work with.

If s.a.2 gets a remake Jessica Dicicco would be a good voice for her! And maybe if they add team hooligan into modern games, we'd see competitive or outclassed and vulnerable side to her personality wich is rare for Sonic characters.

I wasn't expecting that opening (but I'm not upset).

I've only ever seen the 4kids dub of Sonic X, so I missed out on alot of the dirty adult jokes lol. "I guess you're into S&M" was replaced with "You're pretty tough for an old lady" in the US dub, so sad

Rouge The Bat easily comes off like if Amy wasn't chasing Sonic and actually embraced her body as well as her own goals. I mean they easily could've been rivals in SA 2, if they actually did more with Amy, since they're both hard hitting women and embody different sides of femininity, but alas that never happened as Amy was just there in SA 2. Though I think it's obvious why Rouge is obsessed with jewels and Knuckles, cause he has family jewels that she wants at night time.
