Its like a shimano chain and you need to use that pin in the plastic bag to put it together. The pin that is sticking out of the chain is from the factory when they cut the chain to length

well at first i did it wrong and on the first day the master pin fell out and then took it to a bike shop and they did it right. the direction is right, its not upside down, and i dont keep it super tight. i also see that the chain moves side to side on the sprocket. like the sprocket is not thick enought for it or something.

Buy a chain breaker good tool to have in your tool box. You do have a tool box, right???

id suggest buying the Shadow Interlock breaker....made for the chain...i had the same sunlite mini breaker....and the driver striped....

This chain is wonderful. I run it on my fixed gear. The chain breaker retails for about 20-30 bucks, but it's worth it. Don't use a different chain breaker because it doesn't fit as well, and can potentially damage the chain.

It's nice to see when people actually can put the shadow chain on the proper way. I'm bad with chains so I took it to this guy Terry who has his own bike shop and he always puts them on backwards or upside down because according to him it's the "proper way" and my friends ended up cracking after a 2 hour session, pretty lame if you ask me.

Yes it will fit. You will need a chain tool to shorten it if needed

no, you can do it with a standard chain tool. As with any chain tool pay attention to your alignment of the pin and the tool. Good luck and how about a pic of your ride to our face book or #bikemanforu your pic for a chance to win

Ive got the same cranks, what do you think of them?

its probly caz 1 your drive train isent properly alined. 2 the chain is on too tight there for causeing it the grind/chew up the sprocket. and 3 if u cant seem to fix it from any of these tips.. take it to a bike shop.

hey bike man , I have a question could you please help me out? I had one piece cranks , I changed to three piece cranks and got my self a American bottom bracket (sealed) but I'm using the same sprocket from the one piece cranks and when I pedal my chain gets loose and tight, why does that happen?

I ride the Eclat Diesel Chain, it's really light and strong, better than the half link.

We used the Sunlite chain tool that we sell on our website.. Take your time and watch what you are doing and you will have no problem.

Sometimes you'll need a half link though if you're trying to convert a vertical dropout bike to fixed gear. It's a bitch to get that golden gear ratio for perfect chain tension with a normal chain. And presumably you can check your chain with a wear indicator to prevent it from destroying your sprockets.

i found this chain to break as fast as a regular 10 doller chain..i do keep my chain lubed up and taken care of but although it may look cooler for the price to me wasnt worth it..but i do have to say i like the design

NO!!! you should use a new pin.. Try not to break your chain to much it just makes it weaker.. How often do you replace your chain??

Like 25 tooth but it should work on any you could have been putting it on wrong

Sounds like a bent or frozen link… Check each link very carefully. Get the bike in a stand so it is steady and you can pedal it and not stand on your head to see it.. Some thing is wrong with the chain, Good Luck and let us know how you make out

I highly recommend not getting a half link chain they will destroy your sprockets and after awhile they do snap. They look cool and all but ive had 2 half links and they fuck everything up.

I know this is quite old, but if you don't need half link don't use half link. The bend in the metal plates that make up the surfaces of the half link will want to straighten under the pressure of peddling. Where as an already straight piece of metal won't have anything to straighten out. All chains stretch over time but full link lasts longer. The only time I've needed a half link was when I was using chain tensioners on my jump bike and needed a length of chain that I couldn't get with full link.
