@@alexv3372 We know that he was married three times, and that he sired one legitimate heir, Alexander IV of Macedonia, who was born after the death of his father. So, we know that he certainly had relations with women. Many of the claims regarding Alexander's sexuality come due to his relationship with his cavalry commander, Hephaestion. "Mask of Command" (1987), which examined Alexander's leadership style, shows the deep relationship between the two. They were childhood friends, and Hephaestion was an inner member of Alexander's war council. They were said to be companions in everything and often would regale together. On Hephaestion's death, Alexander weeped for days, and was said to have thrown himself upon his body. He gave Hephaestion an astoundingly lavish funeral, and requested for him to be remembered as a "Divine Hero". Doesn’t sound very straight to me ngl. A man can be bisexual and have mostly women…

It says it in the COMMANDMENTS. He is already sinning. God called us to help guide people, not shame, judge and hate them. He's miserable, therefore he strives to drag others down with him. He can't expect the world to change their beliefs and opinions, for his own comfort. Reality doesn't work like that, if anything HE'S the one who needs to get right with God. He's the angry one spewing absolute fuckin nonsense. This is coming from a Christian too, he's a judgemental little shit. I hope he gets help and isn't so damn miserable anymore. Thanks for that ❤ because you can’t force someone to accept your religion and trying to will just push them away from something they might’ve been open to if it were discussed with them in the right way/environment. I will never be offended by someone sharing their religion with me, I love to learn and I’m glad for anyone who’s found a means of peace and comfort going through life. What I HATE is when someone religious tells me I can’t have morals if I’m not part of their religion, that I can’t truly love without god, that coming to their religion will magically soothe all of my issues, or anything along those lines. I’m not Christian, but my mother in law is and I love to ask her questions about things I don’t understand regarding Christianity. I’ve even agreed to have my child baptized if/when her son and I have one, because it won’t hurt anything in my opinion, but will bring her a great amount of peace because she believes you need to be baptized to get into heaven. She does hope that her son and I do accept her god in our lifetime for the same reason, but she has never been forceful about it, it’s just what she hopes for because she loves us.

So u also shouldn't look up to ur native ancestors surely? The natives were super territorial (like most people who functioned in tribes), they also wanted to 'conquer' each other. I only say this cus I think its super wierd to preface ur statement with "as a native..." like that changes anything. The natives conquered each other and would've colonised other areas had they the ability to (just like how any other tribal society would've/did). So when u preface ur statement with that, its as if ur implying that the natives were actually NOT super territorial and violent against outsiders and eachother, which they definitely were.

We talk about these guys because their legacy is a testament to greatness and strength. It isnt so much about conquering and killing as much as it is about the ability to unify under one flag or creed and do great things as a team. The personal sacrifices, the great triumphs, overcoming adversity, etc. If someone took over the world, that means they won a fight against everyone else at the same time. As for your ancestors, they leave little room for you to talk. You cant be proud to be native and just sweep the crazy stuff they were up to under the rug. Scalping, burning villages, even documented cannibalism practices. The term savage is cruel to use on your people but for many tribes they were quick to show savage brutality on their enemies. Your people are hardly the pocahontas shown in the disney movies but love to be proud of your heritage as long as you can pretend to be like that

Enjoy this wall of text from someone whose loves to translate classical passages about ancient queers and trans people: Definitely some romance in there, but according to Quintus Curtius, Plutarch, etc., it was only really with Bagoüs/Bagoas. He only married his wives for political reasons and to have an heir, yes, but I believe he really was infatuated with Bagoas. About their first meeting, Curtius writes, "Inter quae Bagoas erat, specie singulari spado atque in ipso flore pueritiae, cui et Dareus adsuetus fuerat et mox Alexander adsuevit: eiusque maxime precibus motus Nabarzani ignovit." is something along the lines of "Between [Nabarzanes and Alexander] was Bagoas, a eunuch who was foremost in beauty and in the very flower of his youth, whom Darius had been accustomed to 'being with' [this language is just as loaded in Latin as it is in English lol] and Alexander would, too, soon: so exceptional was his dancing that Nabarzanes was pardoned." and "Nam cum omnes amicos regis donis super ipsorum vota coluisset, Bagoae spadoni, qui Alexandrum obsequio corporis devinxerat sibi, nullum honorem habuit: admonitusque a quibusdam, perquam Alexandro cordi esse, respondit, amicos regis, non scorta se colere nec moris esse Persis, mares ducere, qui stupro effeminarentur" roughly is "Upon being admonished for the fact that to all of the friends of the king, colossal gifts had been given, but to Bagoas the eunuch, who had made himself tightly bound to Alexander through [very much literally] the yielding/service/submission of the body, and to whose heart he was exceedingly close, there were none; Alexander responded that as Persian friends of the king, it should not be customary to look after that whore who tempts men to lust/debauchery by making himself a woman." And somewhere in Plutarch (I'm going from memory now, it's getting late here) is when Alexander hosted a festival celebrating their victory in India, and when Bagoas won the dancing competition, they strode up to Alexander and seated themself beside him. Then, after some encouraging from the Macedonians around them, he kissed Bagoas twice. I think that Alexander made a public show of *not* being romantically involved with Bagoas in order to appear as this singleminded statesman and conqueror of the world -- especially when it was in a setting with foreign leaders -- but really it was something of an open secret that the two of them were extremely close, both romantically and sexually, and during their long campaign, the Macedonian camp grew quite fond of the little Persian dancer who was always attached to Alexander at the hip. Quick note: I use "they" in reference to Bagoas because it's not as clear as it is in some cases (cough cough _Avitus_ cough cough) how they felt about themself. Though, in reading a lot of classical history, it becomes apparent that it is much more significant and is almost always mentioned when a eunuch is _not_ extremely effeminate in every way (e.g., the Achaemenid general and minister Bagoas; Ptolemy Philometor's childhood friend Aristonicus; Ptolemy Philometor's *_other_* childhood friend and insinuated lover Eulaeus; etc, etc.), so I guess we can make assumptions about how Bagoas carried themself based on what isn't mentioned. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (edited in because it looks like YT doesn't like this as a standalone for some reason?) You've waited for it! The official part two to my above comment that includes quotes from Plutarch and Athenaeus! I'll give the respective translations from Perrin and Bohn, then come back at some point and give some of my own commentary on some word choice and phrasing in the translations themselves. "Moreover, when he came to the royal palace of Gedrosia, he once more gave his army time for rest and held high festival. We are told, too, that he was once viewing some contests in singing and dancing, being well heated with wine, and that his favourite, Bagoas, won the prize for song and dance, and then, all in his festal array, passed through the theatre and took his seat by Alexander's side; at sight of which the Macedonians clapped their hands and loudly bade the king kiss the victor, until at last he threw his arms about him and kissed him tenderly." ὡς δ᾽ Ἀλέξανδρος παρὰ Κρατερῷ αὐτὸν ἐπῄνεσεν γενομένου πότου, ὁ Χάρων ἐκέλευσε τὸν παῖδα καταφιλῆσαι τὸν Ἀλέξανδρον καὶ ὃς ' μηδαμῶς, εἶπεν, οὐ γὰρ οὕτως ἐμὲ εὐφρανεῖ ὡς σὲ λυπήσει ὥσπερ γὰρ ἦν ἐρωτικὸς ὁ βασιλεὺς οὗτος, οὕτως καὶ πρὸς τὸ καθῆκον ἐγκρατὴς καὶ πρὸς τὸ πρεπωδέστατον" "Alexander the king was also very much in the habit of giving in to this fashion. Accordingly, Dicæarchus, in his treatise on the Sacrifice at Troy, says that he was so much under the influence of Bagoas the eunuch, that he embraced him in the sight of the whole theatre; and that when the whole theatre shouted in approval of the action, he repeated it. And Carystius, in his Historic Commentaries, says,-“Charon the Chalcidian had a boy of great beauty, who was a great favourite of his: but when Alexander, on one occasion, at a great entertainment given by Craterus, praised this boy very much, Charon bade the boy go and salute Alexander: and he said, 'Not so, for he will not please me so much as he will vex you.' For though the king was of a very amorous disposition, still he was at all times sufficiently master of himself to have a due regard to decorum, and to the preservation of appearances" I particularly enjoy the one from Plutarch because it just paints this picture of Bagoas in their "full festal array" striding up to and sitting with a quite drunk Alexander, and the whole crowd just starts chanting "kiss! kiss! kiss!" And it's all the more meaningful because Athenaeus paints this picture (which I went into a bit) that Alexander was very good at keeping this mask of coldness or whatnot, even in Athenaeus' anecdote about Alexander declining to accept this "boy of great beauty's" salute. So Athenaeus even states that he was "master of himself at all times" for "the preservation of appearances," but was of a "very amorous disposition" (presumably, with respect to Bagoas, whom he just mentioned). Bagoas must have been quite special to have had Alexander "so much under the influence." And I'll throw in a little bonus content from right before the previous Athenaeus quote, with regards to the Spartans and Myrmidons because both have been singled out by conservatives as targets of "nuh uhhh, they weren't gaaaay" circlejerking -- viz., 300 or any conservative video on Achilles and Patroclus (the former of which was a Myrmidon). "But among the Spartans, as Agnon the Academic philosopher tells us, girls and boys are all treated in the same way before marriage: for the great lawgiver Solon has said- Admiring pretty legs and rosy lips;- as Aeschylus and Sophocles have openly made similar statements; the one saying, in the Myrmidons- You paid not due respect to modesty, Led by your passion for too frequent kisses;- and the other, in his Colchian Women, speaking of Ganymede, says- Inflaming with his beauty mighty Jove."

I grew up in the Mormon church and they put such a heavy focus on no sex before marriage that it drives young men to get married like right at 18 because they want to have sex so badly but are afraid they'd go to hell. It's ridiculous and it's not a good foundation for a marriage. Just marrying someone because you desperately want to sleep with them? Like do you know how many different people you can be sexually compatible with? There are so many other way more important things in a lifelong partner than if they believe in God and you like sex with them. If that was all that mattered I've had four soulmates lol

My family believes that being gay is a sin and we’re Christian but they’re not like homophobic and mean to people who are lgbtq but they still believe it’s a sin. I don’t because my parents never talked about it and I never heard it in church. I remember like maybe once or twice my mom saying that it was a sin but we still love them but it was never cemented into me. So over time because of the internet and watching content with people who are lgbtq or people being accepting of lgbtq I just got to a point where I don’t believe it’s a sin and even if it was I’m not gonna treat them badly. I believe love is love and I love love. I also don’t believe masturbation is a sin. If you actually read the Bible and analyze the text you would see that it’s never actually said. There’s a good article about written by a pastor with evidence from the Bible

As a Christian, this is why we need to be taught that sex isn’t bad. Whenever I think I person looks objectively good, my mind races with thoughts of “you’re probably gay” or “is that ok?!” And so on and so on. This is from constant programming that a lot of fundamentalists push, which is the idea of being comfortable in your sexuality and orientation and having desires is unnatural and evil. It’s not! I believe that God created sex to be a beautiful and wonderful part of life that people share, and should be practiced the way he intended it to be: in marriage or in loving committed relationships. Being happy being chaste and “pure” really comes with the understanding that sex isn’t bad and recognizing that it’s your choice to stay that way, no strings attached and not allowing the fear of it control your life. If framed badly however, then you’ll spiral into overthinking and self-deprecation for having natural developmental feelings and desires (unless you’re asexual or not attracted to people like that), and even may turn into the people mentioned in the video.

This is what baffled me growing up evangelical. Normal people are sort of interested in sex. They are so interested in purity that it accidentally a 24/7 obsession with sexuality. It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than a normal human. It never clicked with me, because the spoken message was the opposite of the implied one. And it was just so crazy how abnormal it was compared to an ordinary individual. And not even an asexual one, neither. If regular folks think of it a few times a day, these folks never dont think of it. Its pineapples and bananas. Normal people are more sexual and less sex obsessed and it's crazy how big the difference is.
