The Seven Rila Lakes, Bulgaria: absolutely beautiful ( Bulgaria is underrated!!)
The Seven Rila Lakes are located only 100 Km away from Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, and easily accessible from the city. These lakes are absolutely beautiful! Bulgaria is very much underrated!

Bulgaria is really gorgeous! Sofia is a peaceful city. Just visited Koprivshtitsa which is amazing. What do you think about Bulgaria? Please comment.
Beautiful footage and I am shocked at the elevation of the lakes! I guess I will have to do some research on Bulgaria. I live in the mountains of Western Canada (Alberta), and our town sits at 4200’ with the mountain immediately west of town at 8200’ so I understand how high that is. Amazing there’s fish in it! Do you know what kind?

Thank you for your comment! Regarding the fish type in the lakes, hopefully some Bulgarian friends would tell us. We do know there are a lot of trout here. 😊Be honest with you, we didn’t know much about the country, just some superficial stuff. It is really an amazing country, very much underrated. We went to an archeological Museum yesterday and were amazed again. Still digesting the information. What I like here the most is that it’s not hard to get to the mountains and nature. There are different types of geographical areas. We will discover more.

@@roamingcat7927 one of the Seven Rila lakes has river trout. I am not sure about brook trout but it's definitely found in other glacier lakes in Bulgaria. Fishing is forbidden though as is getting in the lakes. The more popular they become, the more they suffer from humans intervention. Anyway, Bulgaria has some stunning, stunning nature, cities and villages. The nature is extremely varied and beautiful, from the southern most glacier in Europe (it's a tiny one but hey, it's at the level of Rome 😁) to a small desert (Europe has no real deserts) and everything in between as mountains and valleys, including a temperate rain forest. It's not a very well known place, thankfully, and this it's kept wild and as pristine as anything in such an overcrowded continent as Europe can be.
