Rolex, Rolex AD, Rolex authorized dealer, Rolex secrets, Rolex AD Secrets, Rolex Dealers Exposed
Everyone has secrets, even a Rolex Authorized Dealer. A Rolex authorized dealer has sales targets, as well as all of the other requirements that come with being an authorized dealer. They must meet specific sales targets, so they need to have that identity, that character, that certain Rolex charm.
Your authorized dealer needs to follow a precise order process when it comes to acquiring allocations and purchasing pieces from Rolex Direct. They put everything in order for Rolex as a manufacturer every year, and Rolex may decide what it offers your authorized dealer at its exclusive discretion.

I recently got the "pretty woman on rodeo drive boutique" treatment at a Rolex AD. The old lady basically said "we have nothing for you, please leave". Hahaha! Not in those words, but the message was the same. She was very dismissive and flat out told me "there is nothing for sale, for display only". Even if I can see a couple of OPs inside the display case....so heartbreaking. So I left and went to an Omega AD instead, and I found a nice Seamaster 300M blue dial, blue bezel....just like what Pierce Brosnan wore in all his James Bond movies and what Daniel Craig wore in Casino Royale...great! I even got a 10% discount because I paid in cash. Fuck Rolex.

Same. Walked into an AD and was looking at the Tissot watches and a sales guy came up to me. When I walked over to the Rolex display he gave me the old let me know if there is anything else I can help you with, and walked away from me. From across the room , and other sharp eyed sales person noticed that I was wearing a Tudor watch and came over and struck up a conversation with me, gave me a catalog, but that’s as far as I got. I do not know where all the comments on this video have come from, but this video makes no sense what so ever. They are selling to gray market dealers to meet their sales goal? Plenty of people walk in every day with money in hand every day wanting to purchase right then and there, and help them meet their sales goal. The owners of Rolex AD’s have lots of wealthy friends that have zero interests in watches. All they have to do is call one of them up and register the watch in their name, sell it to a gray market dealer for a huge profit, then slip the friend a few bones for doing so. It’s no secret, simply put, they are not selling to gray market dealers to meet sales goals, they are selling to them because they are paying more then the other customer that walks thru the door.

Embarrassed? Your lucky and it’s an honor to own a Rolex. The whole point of what’s going on doesn’t bring embarrassment. It brings exclusivity and high value for your product. If everything easy to get then there no value. That’s the whole point. It’s not just Rolex, many high end brands have the same thing going on in the grey market. All car dealerships have the same problem. The difference is the AD Car dealership is charging way over MSRP instead of a car Dealer grey market.

Rolex is to watches as De Beers is to diamonds. They artificially control supply, prices, and who gets certain models. There used to be a Rolex AD in Central New Jersey that tried to get around the rules. Although they were not allowed to sell at a discount, they got around it by allowing trade-ins. They paid more for the trade-ins than their value and used that as credit towards a new Rolex. People were taking a $200 Seiko and getting credit of $500 towards a new Rolex. Eventually Rolex found out and they are no longer an AD.

I’m still waiting but I quit calling every week. I just wanted to have it before I turned 50. It’s a nightmare and it should be a joy for that amount. Grey market is definenlty true. I went into a Rolex store for the first time. I had every intention of spending cash on my first Rolex. They had zero for sale and simply told me they would add me to a list when the watch I want comes in. The sales rep said some people wait years and some people wait a month. That was an odd thing to hear. Anyways, I ended up paying over retail to avoid wondering or not if I'd get a call a month or a year from now. I bought my watch on Chrono24. Other than just going with a different brand, you really have no choice to buy off Grey market unless you have a connection or are really really lucky.

The following is my experience with Rolex. I called my beautiful Rolex saleslady at my city's only authorized Rolex dealer, and told her that I want to buy the beautiful Bluesy, the Rolex Submariner model M126613LB-0002 She informed that she will place my order right away. No other Rolex dealer had this special watch in stock, and I checked dozens throughout the whole US. I was astonishingly very surprised when she called me the next day and told me to come and pick up my new Bluesy. She also gave me a 2% discount for paying by check. Currently the retail list price in the US is $15,600.00. I am super happy with my dealer and with my new Bluesy and it never leaves my wrist.

Whether this is something new or has always gone on and I was not aware of it, having just recently become interested in Rolex as a brand, I do not know. Structurally, Rolex broke their own market..... 1) They set sales quotas for ADs based on minimum purchase commits between the AD and the Manufacturer. 2) the product range is vast, and Rolex specifiy a diverse set of SKUs for sales targets, not just the most popular models. 3) ADs cannot (and never could ) make the unit target for less popular models 4) Grey market dealers can, and will, buy less popular models to secure stock of popular ones - ADs make their sales targets, and collect MSRP for the units 5) Grey market dealers use the premium pricing for 'hot' models to offset the losses on less popular ones (something the ADs absolutely cannot do) . The issue is not demand, it's short term over-supply of difficult-to-sell models - Rolex make too many variants of too many (largely unpopular) models, but insist that ADs shift them, so that Rolex can maintain stability in manufacturing for themselves, and their entire upstream supply chain. The oversupply of less popular models is the driving factor here, tied to Rolex dealer and distribution agreements. that said, Rolex may simply take the view that it's not worth re-tooling the product range and distribution channels just to respond to short-term market trends - if you look at your R&D/Manufacturing over a 30 year period (they do), then it (maybe) makes more sense. It's more important (from a production point of view) to have stable, long-term planning horizons, than it is to modify your product range to meet (relatively) short-term changes in taste. It's also safer to let the ADs take the risk 😀 You made the point very well at the start - Rolex's cusotmers are the ADs, not the consumer.

Around Christmas 2020 we, me and my wife, walked in the Bucherer Shop in Zürich. We don't look very rich. There we said we are interested in the Oyster Perpetual for my wife. We get offered a espresso and could check al the colours and sizes. We were put in the waiting list and 1 1/2 year later we got the e-mail that the watch is ready. I think this video it don't feel really researched. It just repeat the usual clichés. The sales goal is in the moment not problem. There are no less popular model with Rolex. Models like the Rainbow Daytona you only can buy when you already a costumer.

Rolex look good in comparison to most other brands. That’s why they can rev up prices and demand. No Breitling Omega etc quite makes it compared to Rolex. They aren’t as refined as Patek Philippe but that is an entirely different style of watch. Rolex is male and sporty oriented. Wide customer base.

Nothing personal against Rolex but especially here in London the ADs are egomaniacs with cheap ass colognes and wearing weird suits!

There’s no way gray market dealers are solely getting their inventory from people flipping there’s watches after they purchased from an actual AD. The ADs are selling the watches to them. There is no Rolex shortage because there was the gray market dealers would have low inventory too. There are thousands of gray market dealers and they all, have more inventory than Rolex ADs. Why simply beg someone to allow you to spend your money at retail at that.

  • @Cartel893

how is it hard to reach those sales targets when they at the same time prevent more people from buying from them? The point is, it is not hard at all. What they want is make it look more scarce than it is, so the brand gains value while everyone is chasing a rolex and rolex themselves make enough money with backdoor deals on the grey market. I would never go to any watch store and beg to be a customer, fuck that. Rolex is mass production, but people pay like their pieces are limited.

If Rolex dealers were adhering to their agreement with Rolex there wouldn't be a "grey" or shadow market. How does Rolex ADs justify not selling watches to retail customers who are the legitimate buyers but sell watches in bulk to grey market dealers who sell watches ABOVE MSRP? Legally the AD who sells their inventory to a grey market dealer who then resells the same merchandise to a retail customer at a price above MSRP is facilitating selling Rolex watches above MSRP..

  • @seanboogie10

As someone who works for an AD, this is not correct. I’m sorry. But you are wrong. It may be different from different places but we do not do business like this. We strive to NOT sell to anyone who is not a collector, and I personally try to get pieces for any people I work with. So, sadly, this just isn’t that true in my experience.
