This movie doesn't get as NEARLY as much attention as it should. Yea. Spirited Away was great. My Neighbor Totoro was banging and of course Howel's Moving Castle is a master piece. But this is a CLASSIC story which was made into beautiful piece of art through animation.

Yeah if they could live in harmony with other humans arrietty's family could have done everything they've only dreamed of before.. like arrietty's mom seeing the ocean for the first time, living in the doll house. The ending makes me sad but it wouldnt feel as nostalgic if it was a perfectly happy ending like any other children's movies. Thats why i love the ghibli

It's been 8 years since I've seen this, it beings back memories. My adopted big brother got the CD for this movie in his local library and brought it home for me since he thought I'd like it, (since I was a very energetic girl who couldn't sit still so watching something would settle me down lol) it was my first time ever seeing a Ghibli movie or even a Japanese animation. I watched it and fell in LOVE with it, every time I come back from school I'll change and go straight to the tv put in the cd and watch it till it ends, I watched it so many times that I lost count (this is where all my artistic nature began), when my brother had to return it I cried bc I thought I'd never see it again. Time passed and I watched my very first anime which was DB on tv, it came around 7pm so I'd stayed at that time to watch it, it had 4 ep each day so I loved it. As I grew I started watching naruto, bleach and other animes and at that time I had completely forgotten about Arrietty and it was in only 3 years. Now I found it again and I am so thankful this was created bc with out this film I would of never loved animation, art, anime, etc I never would of became an artist this movie is the reason for who I am today. Damn I feel like crying...

I personally liked the British dub from StudioCanal, with Tom Holland playing the boy Sho.

It's a Ghibli film, and Miyazaki helped with the adaptation of the book, but this was the first directing role for Ghibli animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi.

This is one of the best Studio ghibli films i have ever seen, the plot may be simple, but their connection together really touched me in my heart, if you haven't seen this, PLEASE, by all means, watch it, you WONT regret it!

I watched this beautiful movie 2 times, I just love Studio Ghibli so much. Those guys produce real masterpieces 😍

I was shown this movie as a young girl by my grandmother. Years later, I’m still fascinated by it

Among the male characters in Ghibli movies, I fell in love and get attached with Sho. He's so calm yet so sweet. An ideal man. His voice, the one I want to hear every morning.

I love this film so much, it's so beautiful. The ending is so touching and tender to the heart. Truly brought tears to my eyes. It spreads a wonderful message I would never forget.

I remember seeing this in the theatre being a Ghibli fan, and I was mesmerized at the amount of detail in this film. The animation is mind-blowing... It doesn't get nearly enough credit. This movie is beautiful and just...a masterpiece.

OMG! I saw this movie when I was a kid. The setting has been in so many of my dreams and I didn’t know if it was even real or not. I searched for a movie that had the setting I always see in dreams and I found the movie ‘when marnie was here’ it had a similar setting so it half satisfied my curiosity and I guessed that it was the one. But I saw this trailer and I know this is it! I’m so glad because I could never remember the film that I saw in my dreams so often after years off curiosity!

Disney and Ghibli studio are my favorite animation studios in the world. Love their creativity.

actually this anime is the result of a collaboration between Studio Ghibli, Toho Company, Walt Disney Company, and several other companies. The Toho Company handles distribution in Japan, while distribution in France, Canada and the United States is handled by the Walt Disney Company.

I love this movie! It's my favorite, the animation is amazing, the songs are beautiful and sometimes I wish I was that small, and the best part is I own it on DVD, and I watch it over and over again.

I remember when this first came out. It was one of the first movies I’d ever watched in theatres. Such a good memory

The woman who played the little mom is joy from inside out.

I remember seeing this movie back in 2012 and completely forgot about it. I finically found this movie and almost cried just by seeing this trailer. I need to watch it again.

This is a fantastic, heart-warming story presented in beautiful artworks centred round friendship and bravery. Enthralling and wonderful!

I used to watch this movie all the time. The scene where He was staring at her stealing always scared the crap out of me

I cried throughout the whole movie. It's so sad and inspirational.

This and Castle in the Sky are my favorite Studio Ghibli movies.

"You gave me the courage to live" -Sho

"Sometimes we have to fight for the things worth fighting for." That line is awesome in itself!

This is actually my favorite of all the Ghibli films so far. It was a beautiful blend of excitement, danger and beautiful surroundings (although the film itself actually played it all in a very relaxing way.) Maybe this trailer wasn't the best, but in my view, the film itself was great.

THIS WAS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE MOVIES AS A KID, AND I SUDDENLY GOT FLASHBACKS TO IT THE OTHER DAY AND I ASKED AROUND AND SOMEONE TOLD ME ITS ARIETTY AND WATCHING THIS MADE ME CRY WITH NOSTALGIA, ESPECIALLY THE SUGAR CUBES LIKE AHHHH

* Sho is so kind. Figuratively, he has a good heart. And for me, the saddest part of the film is the idea that Arriety's family is leaving that old house. Sho's grandfather is so kind, they want to leave in the doll house. Arriety's family is part of the house, and it's history. In short, when they leave, that house miss a piece of itself.

@@ghaveduproi7412 I think it's based on a book so the ending isn't really Studio Ghibli's fault. It isn't bad in my opinion, quite original actually but just doesn't give one closure. I was thinking........ do you know that story of the man from the 17th or 18th century who got lost at sea one night then woke up, to find little people, soldiers, binding him with ropes? Then they took him to their leader... it's an old one. I was thinking...... what if Ghibli animated that one, then made another story for Arrietty? Maybe she and her family would hear of the island kingdom of little people, they'd have an adventure to reach there and discover the place. Would be nice to see her again.

I've been looking for this movie for over the past 6 years and finally found it this brings me back to my child Hood

This movie has such a beautiful and delicate atmosfere. While it may not be the best studio ghibli movie, it's definitely one of the most memorable ones. Plus I love the soundtrack.

Watch the British Dub of Arriety. It has natural sounding VAs, and suits better since Arriety is based of the british novel 'The Borrowers'. Trust.

I read this somewhere: Sho's surgery didn't work, and his heart was going to fail early, and he was going to die young. Hearing of this, his estranged uncle (maybe "Jessica"'s estranged husband?) from a different dimension heard about it, and decided to bring his dying nephew to his dimension, and the house and the flowers, so he'd have a chance to see it before he died. While there, though, Sho found about the falling stars, and made a deal with Calcifer when he fell. Calcifer kept his heart (and him) alive, but Sho's personality changed due to a mix of his heart being gone, and actually having a chance to live But HMC is written by Diana Wynne Jones so it doesnt make sense right ? It is the mostly the stunning similarities that Howl and Sho have and the heart part

I’m cried after I watched this story, I feel like my mind became so empty, the storyline is very good and I like Arrietty and Sho, and I am sad because they have to separate, I hope they can meet again. I love that what make me felt touched is after the ending, they have an ‘aftertaste’ that stay in your heart.

We know the movie is a beast when it is made by Studio Ghibli

A sequel or prequel would be so cool. Your Name and The Secret World of Arrietty both deserve a sequel or prequel

This made me genuinely cry, laugh and wanting more!🥺 I love all of Studio Ghibli's movies💜

i think i like this english dub cast better then the japanese and british cast, but eh its just my opinion i really dont understand why people hate on this english dub cast, they worked really hard to do the voices, just some people dont get it i guess cause we arent them. this world sucks since we have haters. but thats just my opinion right?

watched the UK trailer and it didnt feel right. everyones voice sounded too childish or too high pitched. Japanese is good but the UK one felt weird

I really love the English version better in my opinion as well, the British version didn't fit everything the movie had. I haven't heard the Japanese version, I'm guessing it's good but I'm towards of liking the English version more. Everyone has an opinion, you don't force your hatred on others.

Bro I loved this movie when I was younger! I’ve watched this a lot of times

One of my earliest memories was watching this in the theatres when I was like 5 with my mom and sisters. There was only us and like 3 other people. I had no idea that it was a Studio Ghibli movie or that this was an anime. Now, even though I barely remember the plot when I first watched this, it brings tears to my eyes.

that movie will always be in my heart because its one of my favorite studio ghibli films
