The SECRET Training that’s making me FASTER for the OLYMPICS | My Journey to the Paris 2024 Olympics
We are entering the last couple of months before the Olympics, the biggest race of my life!!
Follow my journey here on KZread. I hope you’ll like it. Sit back, relax, and enjoy :)
This video is about a double workout day, inspired by the Norvegian training method. The double threshold day is said to be developed by Marius Bakken, and famously applied by Olympic Champion Jakob Ingebritsen.
However, I don’t exactly run double threshold. My paces are defined by my feeling, not by lactate measurements, and it is likely that I go over the lactate threshold.
Today’s workouts are the following:
1) MORNING
- 20min warm-up
- 5x2000m, rest 2min
- 3mk cool down
2) EVENING
- 4km warm-up
- 12x400m, rest 1min. Last 400m at 95% of maximum effort.
- 10min cool down

Will do!! 😊
Besides the running you mostly rest to recovery on these training camps, I assume. Would be nice to see what you do outside of training to kill time (besides editing videos). Do you take naps? Also your food pattern might be a nice thing to cover, especially how you plan you carb-rich meals for specific trainings. What do you take as protein rich meals? That kind of stuff...

Very good video, John! Classic video ideas could be what you eat in a day/ what you do in a recovery day/ injury prevention/ race week and race day recap! (Race week is my favorite)

Do you do any visualisation before races or any pre race rituals that help you long term? Great vlog
Nice video John, thanks for the info and overview of your training. I'm wondering how do you recover the day after a double threshold like this, do you run super easy? And how super easy would mean for you?
@Johnheymansrun
2 ай бұрын
I run very easy. 4’20-4’40/km for about 10km in the morning and 8km in the afternoon. Sometimes with strides in the afternoon as well. All by feel. If I happen to feel great, I try not to exceed 4’20/km pace.
On adore ce genre de contenu mon gars John 😍

I think the same when seeing myself run. My running mechanics weren’t the same a few years ago. The body has adapted to the most economical way of moving after so many miles over the years

Have you ever used a blood lactate meter to test your lactate levels during workouts like these or have you always gone based on feel.
