The SECRET to Strumming Southern Cross | 3 Chord Song!
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Southern Cross Guitar Lesson - 3 CHORD SONG! ✅ Check out Lauren’s UNIQUE Beg. Guitar Method: www.laurenbatemanguitar.com/c... - In this Southern Cross guitar lesson by Crosby, Stills and Nash, I will be going over a few different strumming patterns you can use on this relatively easy song. This song I more beginner level because of the chords. There’s only three of them! I would consider this more late beginner because you will have to understand a little more about Rhythm and Timing. I will show you how to keep the Southern Cross strumming pattern simple as well as show you how to spice it up a little bit if you’re up for the challenge. Overall, great song here by Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Lauren, relatively new to your KZread channel (and I did subscribe) but I really enjoy your teaching style and the choice of songs that are available. I am a 63 year old beginner + and there are many songs from your channel that I can attempt to learn without being too difficult after some practice time. Thanks for catering to all of us on the guitar learning spectrum. You are bringing me and others so much joy to finally learn how to play the guitar and have fun along the way. Well done!

Woo hoo!! Glad to help.
I noticed that you strum down at a upward angle on your pick,I always strum down straight, my pick is aimed straight at my guitar, never down never up,plus I play with the butt end side,I'm real insecure when it comes to hitting my chords,I don't hold the pick on the butt end,but in reverse because it gives me a thicker tone,I just wanted to share that with you, plus I mute certain chords to set a certain mood while I'm singing..🥰 Thanks for the Eye opening lesson Mrs.Bateman, I always leave with something good...

Lauren this was a song I learned on my own very early on in my guitar lessons and I loved it. It's SO simple a pattern. I wanted my instructor to work with me but he wanted me to understand the chord theory of suspended chords first so he had me hold off. So for those who care about such techno babble. A major chord is Root, 3rd note and 5th note of a major scale. In our case, a D major chord is D, F#, A A suspended (or sus chord) drops the third and adds either the 2nd or 4th note in the scale giving it that distinctive sound. It doesn't have to be a major chord to do this with but in this song. D sus 2 is D, ->E, A (no F#) (E is the 2nd note of the D major scale (D, E) D sus 4 is D, ->G, A (no F#) (G is the 4th note in the D major scale (D, E, F, G) Another great song that adds that is Woman by John Lennon and my favorite example of a suspended chord. It's literally the first chord in the song. Thanks!

Thanks Dave. Yes, I go over this music theory stuff in my Music Theory 101 course. Good stuff to know eventually. This sus stuff pops up all over the place.
What a great lesson from a wonderful teacher. The entire lesson was well laid out and very concise. Clearly explained and easy to follow. I especially appreciated the tabs throughout and your playthroughs, both often missing in others lessons yet extremely helpful for us 'late beginners'. This was the first video of yours that I have seen and easily earned a thumbs up and subscribe (neither of which I give out lightly.) Thank you and keep 'em coming!

Thanks Lauren, I enjoyed your lesson. My guitar teacher I’ve loved playing with 2.5 years has retired. After watching this vid I asked her for the chords and lyrics which she gave to me. There is a Bm in her version on a few lines. I think I’ll try it with the open Bm chord as it’s a tough chord for me to land. Once again I’m enjoying your webpage 🎸
