    Thanks for this, what a great video! Short, clear, and to the point, with excellent explanations of the pros and cons of each method, and clear photos, front and back. What a welcome relief from the youtube videos that have more meaningless chat than actual teaching. You are a gem!

    Love the way you demonstrate and also how you cover it verbally. You info in stated very clearly and you actually repeat it. Slowly and clearly. Thank you so much. It is to difficult when one goes too fast/does not repeat it. We beginners need your concise instructions.

    This was exactly what I was looking for! Thank you for showing both sides of the fabric. That was really insightful. Just one small suggestion for these types of tutorials it really helps to have a contrasting yarn. I really liked seeing them in the same colorway so I could see how the finished pieces would look, but the contrasting yarn would be a great addition!

    Suzanne, this is such a timely tutorial for me. I’m currently working on a baby blanket with open work stars. It has a stockinette ground, with a 5 stitch garter border all the way around. It has a mitered lace border, and the pattern instructs to sew it on. No way! I’m going to knit it on as I work it. I’ve knitted this blanket once, over 20 years ago. Thanks to you, I’m confident that this one will be much neater. Thank you! ❤️

    I really find your videos so useful (and the "reverse yarn wrap" on the second stitch has been a revelation!). Can you tell me the best way to pick up along a vertical garter stitch edge with a slipped stitch chain if the pattern does not require me to use every stitch?

  • @SuzanneBryan

    @SuzanneBryan

    3 жыл бұрын

    What you can do with that slipped stitch edge, if you need to pick up two stitches for the one slipped stitch, use each leg of the slipped stitch separately. It is not as tidy looking as a non slipped stitch edge, but it will do. In the future, if you are going to be seaming or picking up stitches along an edge, it will look nicer in the long run if the edge stitches are worked rather than slipped. Happy New Year.

    I need to pick up stitches for a button band on a cardigan. The top section is in garter stitch; the middle section is in stockinette stitch; and the bottom section is in garter stitch. Should I pick up the stitches "one stitch in" on the garter as well as the stockinette, so that I have a straight vertical line?

    I found the comparison of 3 ways very helpful BUT the most useful was the actual picking up and I would have liked not to have to wait 5 minutes to see that. As well I noticed that the closeup got fuzzy which made it a little harder to see where the needle was being placed.
