No wonder my picked up stitches don't look right--I've only picked up the bottom of the loop!!! Thank you for solving this puzzlement for me!

I have always dreaded finding a mistake on an edge stitch! I’ve never fixed one successfully. Thank you for the great video and explanation. Now, I know I should be able to figure out how to deal with an edge stitch mistake when I’ve slipped the first stitch, using the explanation you just gave, BUT if you wanted to do a video on that, it would save me from having to think too hard :-)

Thanks so much, Suzanne! This video was incredibly helpful and educational for me. I’ve picked up knitting after a few decades of not having the time. I can’t tell you how many times recently, that I’ve had to unpick several rows to correct this error. I am so grateful for your kind generosity in teaching us all. Greetings from Australia!

When I’m undoing stitches, I have trouble undoing an edge stitch that was a purl st with one leg and a knit st with the other. It always ends up a huge loop. I’m not sure I’ve fixed this correctly, but it looks like the other edge stitches and all the slack is gone. I think I will go with it. Many thanks!!
Is there any way that I can attach a pic of my mistake? I am doing a seed stitch border where the first stitch is slipped. Suzanne, I LOVE your videos!
Thank you so much. I, too, was only picking up one leg of the stitch, not both. You cleared that up for me. I'm still having a bit of trouble. My pattern for now is 2 x 2 ribbing. It so happens that the end stitch I dropped was a Purl stitch. If I turn the work around, to be working from the knit side, the loops pull out to the left. Is this done differently if your end stitches are purls? Thanks. :)
@SuzanneBryan

If the purl side is facing you, then pick them up purl-wise, and the opposite for the knits. Good luck, Neenee! 😊

I have never ever Ever never no time ev-ver ..... before, considered the fact that there were two stitches at the end. I’ve always treated them as singles. It is 2:27 AM for me, and so it’s WAY-TOO-EARLY for me to quite ‘learn som’n different every day!’, so, I won’t. Hmph!!

Bless you!! I've undone stitches so many times in the middle section of whatever I'm knitting, but I just tried doing it on the edge for the first time ever (apparently) and had a slight panic moment when I wasn't sure how to retrace it all back up, haha. Thank you for saving me!
