Who else is off to watch EVERY other video this woman has done?! ❤
Thank you for such a helpful video! I made a note of all your points and was able to really give my hairdresser a clear explanation of what I hoped to achieve and I LOVE the outcome! Thankful that you choose to share your knowledge and skills! X
I've JUST had my last cut with the blending/grey transitioning color in it (decided to do it during the pandemic). It's ALL out now and I LOVE it.
I just love your hair here, it looks so healthy, shinny, voluminous, and compliments perfectly your complexion
You are amazing! The video I've been looking for for almost 10 years! I'm a brunette who covers gray, and I've been struggling forEVER with that dreaded copper fading, even after salon visits. All I want is dark brown and some nice ash highlights, but now I know why it's just not that simple. I learned SO much from this video- thank you thank you!!!!
Nobody has explained this better than you! THANK YOU 🙏 😅
I love your hair! Thank-you for this video, this is something I've been trying to figure out for years!

For instance, if you are going to the same level at the base/roots and want some highlights ,or even lowlights, in the base/roots also what's the best method to achieve this. Do you do all the processes at the same time or can you do the base color first and then go back and add highlights? Thanks so much.

I use Wella and I added about 1/3 Ash in the same number to my mix and finally don't have warm at the root. I use a 4N and added 1/3 4A.

HI! I am so happy that you talk about brassy roots today. I am educating myself the whole day on KZread, how i colour my mousebraun roots and which mixture of demi coulors i should choose ? I am starting with a 7 VA + 8 P and than over my whole hair a 10 P + 10 V. I am afraid that it will come out to ashy.My Hairundertones are brown -red with grey hair ! You helped me a lot. And it is beautifuly to watch how you changed from a young girl in 2012 to a mature beautiful Mother and Business woman in 2022 ! I am living in Germany close to the danish border. So i follow your KZread Channel and your Marriage with Anton since 5 Years ! Congratulations to your Motherhood and eyerything you both have built together in San Francisco! Love Elsa

Me too! So many salons keep giving me red warm tones , when i keep saying cool, cool tones ..
I've been doing my own hair color for the last 20 years. When I get a cut the stylist always asks me how I did it and as you mentioned the trick is never use the same color twice in a row. I use a medium brown N base and 20 volume developer, and alternate with chestnut, violets and dark blonde tones. Natural hair is not all one colors so your color choices should mimic this as well. I have this beautiful dark brown, maroon with blonde highlights naturally from alternating colors. When I was getting it done professionally, I'm not kidding. The hairdresser always messed it up either by using semi-permanent color or by getting brassy tones. Not something I want to pay for! Needless to say, coloring is not that hard, I learned to do with myself much better results and less cost. And since I get roots every 10 days I have to color often.

@@elibell19I always purchase professional color and the developer that goes with it. I prefer igora Royal. You can add a second color and stripe it in kind of like making your own thin highlights/ lowlights. That gives you a lot more dimension. If I was using dark brown like a level 3, I would use a mahogany to add some depth with low lights. It looks really pretty too when the Sun shines on it. Same for blonde tones. You could use medium blonde and add a little bit of chocolate lowlights. That gives more dimension

@@SingleSuccessfulMomMBA1422 Thanks. I've heard good things about Igora Royal. I was using Koleston Perfect, but I find it goes really dark on me, even if using a level 5/0 (mixed with 6/07) in my greys.

I love your color I wish my hair was that color
I like red hair and red roots!
Thanks for that. I am spending a lot of money going to hairdressers every month to try to remove the red tones in my hair, and NO ONE can do it…. I will try this. If I knew it would be so complicated I would just continue going blonde :( I am very sad with my hair
I am not a hairdresser. I started doing my own hair 16 years ago. I have a lot of grays. I only touch up my roots. I highlight as needed, every 2nd or 3rd time. I use nn and add a little of ash to my formula, with 20 vol developer. it seems to be working well for me this way. Love your videos.

Exactly. They really have no idea, just blah blah blah.
My friend is naturally a medium fairly neutral brown, but is grey now so always colours her hair. She's gone progressively lighter over the years, as she says lighter hair is easier to blend / hide the roots when they grow back every 2-3 weeks. The grey is still very obvious when it comes back though! Should she just go a bit darker? Her roots are too warm too. Like a honey beige. And the all over blonde washes her skin tone out. She's a natural level 4-5 and her colour now is a level 8. Thank you!
Thank you beautiful Genius!🤍👏

Hi, thank you for this. Do you still use the Redken Shades EQ colours?
You remind mecof shakira! Love this channel 🎉 thank you for your videos
Also i think it is a great way to let your gray hair grow out without looking "all gray" at once, when you go in with the AG tones
Thank you💗
I'm still confused. So you go in with an NN to cover Gray roots. In how many weeks do you put on the AG color? And then doesn't that get kind of stripey looking? NN-AG-NN-AG-NN-AG-NN-AG, etc. Or do you put the AG on right after you put on the NN?
Your hair is beautiful here 👌
Please do a video on covering gray roots on heavily highlighted blonde (level 8, 9, 10). Can you just use a toner on the whole head? I'm trying to avoid using a 20 vol color on the roots bc it stains the pretty bright 10 highlights;/
Can you do a video on how to transition from salon color (incompetent stylist problems!!) to doing color at home yourself. I'm so fed up with very expensive stylists $$$ and very poor results 🤕!!
Very good info. Thank you. Generally how long to leave on the roots with 20vol?
Wella double base /02 series is the best to avoid orangey roots
This is excellent, thank you! The main problem I'm having is what do I use to tone both the brown and reddish, and the blonde highlights, it's super frustrating and if I can avoid so much red maybe I can just purple tone instead, hooray 😊.
Very very helpful, solved mystery. I was also thinking of using a weaker hydrogen peroxide like a 30.
Soooo sooo Soooo soooo helpful!!! Thank you very much!

Yay! Glad I could help.
Can I mix 6nn and 7ag , or I should color my hair with 6nn, and then after a few days, I should use 7ag ? Please let me know what's the best way to avoid redness without damaging the hair.
Can you do a video on diy neutral BRONDE hair?😌
I use 4% (15 volume) developer on my grey roots. That prevents brassy tones. It is sufficient to color my roots, although I have strong hair.
Do you tone on a seperate dat AFTER doing your roots to catch any potential bleed to your blonde ? I just commented on a recent video you posted where you "tone up" your blonde with the T18 and T27. Then came here to what you were doing for Grey's. I recently have tried doing some things at home bc my grey is just getting absurd. Looks great with all blonde but im trying to save $ this year by embracing my natural and the blonde I have left as my hair grows out. When I did my roots I tried to keep it cold water wash but I'm sure it made the highlights I have dingy ... which is why I was watching your other video mentioned. If only it still felt fun and not a chore!
Wish I watched this yesterday
Thank you,.
I have a problem with it being gold at the roots and it looks like it wasn't fully processed. Should I leave the color on my roots for 45min vs 30?
Thank you for all your videos! 💝 I have been following your videos for almost a decade! I’m a level 3/4 darkest brown mid hair… and a lever 4/5 at my roots with very little gray I’d like to be a level 5 brown Ash but I always get hot roots with level 5 unfortunately. is it because I’m going to light ? should I go for the 4 level Ash and mix the 10 and 20 to avoid hot roots?
Is is best to dye grey roots on ultra clean hair or “dirty” hair? Which will last longer?
I actually stopped dying my hair since the pandemic, and my grays are in full display. Is there any way to strip the dye color that is at the tips at home?
My wrists always give out when im doing my hair, would you recommend the dyson airwrap set? Or do you think the blow dry method works best? They’re pricey so I would only be able to save for one or the other. Could you please make a video on it?
100 likes I get highlights every ~8 months, pretty much at the point my roots are grown out a few inches. I often felt like I was getting too much lift, but realize the colorist is attempting to help with coverage. So, mentioning I am looking for something blended cool and neutral is definitely the way I want to go.

HI, Is it ok to mix the redken 6n color gel lacquer with the redken gloss developer? Thanks in advance for the help
Are you using 20 dev for both the nn and the ag? Also about how long does each sit on your hair before you shampoo? Thank you - i love your videos!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
Salt pepper( black white), over 50+ , is that 20+ 4NN? Or is it possible to go lighter no brass whit 5NN?
I just bought the 7n to cover my grays. My hair is similar to yours. so what I get from this video is cover with N and go back with an AG to calm the red warm tones right ???
Hello, How can you have level 6 hair if you have blonde hair please? Just interested thanks.
Hello dear! I’ve struggled with this for so long and want to give the AG tones a try - where can I purchase these without a license?
Can you do a video about the new redken colour gels 10 minutes formula. For instance can you mixx 6NN with 6ABN?
I know it’s not exactly the topic off the video but maybe you can help me with my problem, I’ve dyed my hair a few times to level 7 with 20 volume and it started to get brassy, would dying it over again with 10 volume help?
Good evening, I have tried several Salons , the color will not cover my gray it gone In a couple of day's. I am looking for a solution to this problem. Thank you! Blessings to you!!
My problem is the dark roots combined with fast growing hair I have visible grey in 5 days - and my hair dresser never wants to highlight to get more of a blended look because it damages my ends.
What brand of hair dye is shown in this video? I haven’t seen dye with AG.
Wish this video was uploaded last Friday, I literally had not had my hair coloured since first lockdown, so have alot grey. Just had box colour blonde 8 applied with foils on roots. I'm level 4 natural. So now hair is warm red & light brown. How do u correct to cooler blonde?
Hi Silvia, thanks so much for doing this video. I’m such a big fan of your channel and truly value your expert advice and opinion when it comes to hair. I’m currently mixing 5NA and 6NA for gray root coverage. Should I change my color to NN to achieve what you explained in the video to get less warmth? What exactly is the the difference between NA and NN? Thanks
@silvanaansaldof7846
Жыл бұрын
Hi Ellie, NA in the Redken shades means natural ash, and the NN series means double natural or extra coverage. You will get a cooler tone by using a the NA shades than the NN. Hope this helps, maybe 🤔 you need to change your developer and don’t apply heat if you are. Make sure that if you are doing your color, it is not when it’s too hot ‘cause it increases the lift and as a result make your color warmer
