The secret to changing negative self-talk by renewing your mindset | Bruce Pulver | TEDxFlowerMound

How is your self-talk? Bruce is obsessed with words. After he was downsized in his career, Bruce had to change his mindset to navigate a new path. Bruce shares why the words you use matter and how changing your words can change your mindset. Bruce teaches how to alter your self-talk and be intentional with your words.TEDx is about ideas worth spreading. TEDx is a program of local events designed to bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Just like a TED event, the TEDx event is focused on bringing in live speakers to spark deep conversations and connections in a smaller group. Author/Speaker This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    Excellent video content! Apologies for butting in, I would love your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Proutklarton Defeat problems Plan (do a google search)? It is a great one of a kind product for discovering how release your stress and free your mind without the headache. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my close friend Aubrey after a lifetime of fighting got cool success with it.

    I'm the opposite Bruce. I became very negative and my attitude. Catastrophes started happening in my life,.. and more my negative attitude grew. I only had my great career job left... then my attitude created a foolish mistake and I lost my dream job of 20yrs. .... I tried SO hard to return.! I was given wrong information that prevented my ability to return and in lost it. I had blame, hate, regret, grief etc.... which made my situation worse. My mental and physical health declined. I have Chronic Stress, Anxiety, insomnia, and depression. My words were extremely bitter, and daily cursed myself and everyone who gave me wrong information. My situation is very serious now.... I've had many S.I. days and talked with professional counseling. Yet, still unable to accept and let it go. I started listening to podcasts like this...Im realizing, how my own negative thoughts and words, prophesied my demise. I'm totally devastated and alone. I'm just starting to think... it maybe possible, if I can somehow discipline my mind to think of positivity, aimist the tsunami of negativity that resides in my mind. It really is is a sliver of possibility. If I can just find a way, a daily formula. It might save my life. ⛓️🙏

Your carefully selected words have helped to recharged me. Your message has inspired me. I’m writing these words and will read them until I commit them to memory. I will use this as a compass to get back to enjoying my life. Thank you for sharing this message with the world. Words make a difference!

    Bemnet:, Thank you for your kind comment. When awarded this opportunity to share my Idea of how a renewed mindset to focus on our self-talk four years ago. my goal was to simply talk about my experience openly and how a life challenge forced me to pay attention to my words. The talk was as much for me to seek clarity as it was to impart any special wisdom. I am still learning and I continue to seek the deeper meaning of the power of my words each day. Thank you

    The greatest inspirational book in history is the bible. Basic Information Before Leaving Earth. A great phrase from it is 'renewing your mind'. Thousands of phrases from it are in daily language. Learning from history, wisdom in proverbs, realized predictions, immoral consequences, inspired messages from creator, and science facts; its all there between the pages. Forget climate change; the catastrophe is Moral Change. Its time for mom & dad to inspire their kids.

    This talk is why books like Toxic Positivity exist.

  • @brucepulver

    @brucepulver

    Жыл бұрын

    Kam. My intention with the idea shared is to express a starting point around the impact of the words we use on our outlook about life. The only life I can use as a point of reference is my own. Behind the message have been years of my own doubt, "lack of" and "am I enough" thinking. All of this came to my realization on the day of that personal "BAM" moment. I was likely in some ways living in a setting of Toxic Positivity. My upbringing was positive. Not perfect but positive. My work environment was full of "overcomers". Sales professionals who were successful in highly competitive sales battles. It seemed like they were just "positiving" themselves to success. I didn't understand how could they be so positive all the time when my work cycle had years of great success as well as setbacks and losses. I also realized that, conversations with myself added to the doubt. The "BAM" moment, didn't change everything for me in an instant. What I realized was that, if I wanted better outcomes, I had to begin looking at myself and my mindset separate from the circumstances which had created a habit response of negative thinking. Thank you for your comment as I can now see where, including some of the background into my talk, might have provided a wider perspective for the audience. Thank you for helping me see a blind spot, I was missing.
