  • @Saltfix

    So far fisheries have not put a firm decision on what the new measures will be. Probably won’t bother us much as we very rarely take our bag limit anyway. Usually one decent fish is enough for both Jack and I to get a feed. If solid science says we need changes then so be it. You only need to look at the amount of boats,the technology on board and photos of bag outs online day after day to figure we can’t keep going the way we are.

    Do u guys find much of a difference in hook up rates when using 30lb in comparison to 20lb leader? Is the sacrifice of strength worth it do u reckon?

  • @Saltfix

    @Saltfix

    It’s a compromise.sometimes they just aren’t there but if I’ve marked fish and they are being fussy downsizing usually works. Snapper fight pretty clean so just go light and let them burn em self out a bit .I’ve landed em on 10pd leader no prob

    Hey Saltfix 🤙👣 Just curious what is the bottom current is like? does it affect the bait in the water column that much at that depth?? Also what rod, reel and line class is jack using? TIA 🐟

    Hey mate I’ll leave Scotty to answer question on the on current. But the set up I got that snapper on is my “heavy” setup for inshore stuff. It’s an Abrolos tackle retro rod, 6000 size Saragossa 30lb inferno braid 30lb leader with CPOINT Hooks in the 6/0 size all from black magic tackle :-) good solid set up that gets the job done ✅

    Current is not usually too big a problem for us, if it’s a bit strong I’ll just use a small ball sinker above the hook. Mostly unweighted is fine

    If you are getting small ones it’s the right place👍 use light leaders say 30-40pd max and a bit of stealth don’t clunk around in the boat or drop things. Cast right out the back bigger ones can be spooky and won’t sit under the boat It’s mostly time mate just keep at it, eventually it will happen

    Great vid, showing us what and how... a bit more on the what and how will make your vids perfect.... There are 50k vids of blokes hooking and fighting a reef fish and then showing off said fish., without showing what and how... I am sick of watching 1 person fight 1 fish for 10min, then having the next clip showing him fight the next fish for 10 mins and then they dont show what how or why.. like its a big secret.. Your Vids are getting much better.. remember Teach a man to fish and he will feed his family
