Sorry Finn your wrong juggalos aren't mostly white people I'm black and I'm a juggalo I know alot of native American juggalos and Latino juggalos Asian juggalos and black juggalos I'd say white people are only half of the juggalos community

I’ve taken my wife to see tons of bands including ICP, and she always says their fans are by far the nicest and most polite. ICP was the only show we’ve ever been to where a guy turned and saw her behind him and moved so she could see. It’s truly a misunderstood subculture.

When I was in a band the juggalos were my favorite group to play in front of, they have a ton of energy and if they like you they will show it. We opened up for Tech n9ne a bunch and they love him.

The Juggalos that I've been friends with are some of the weirdest, most accepting, nicest people I've ever met.

Same here, they also happen to be very deep human beings with múltiple interests in life... I remember having a scottish juggalo friend who we bonded with over all different Sort of stuff from Nu Metal, WWE, fighting games and cartoons to food, life experiences and loving our pets... Im not a juggalo (tho I love me some ICP) But I think the guys deserve More respect than they get...

Same. When I first moved to Michigan as a young teen, I had 0 friends. The school was super cliquy and I was considered on the lower income side of things. A poor family lived on my bus route and the kids were all juggalos/juggalettes and were the only kids who let me sit with them on the bus and were kind to me. The 8th grader with a poorly done hatchet man tattoo who looked like his family could barely feed him was basically my first friend.

Yo, The Amazing Jeckel Brothers album was, in my opinion, their best overall album.. every song on the album was great, even the post intro intro songs Jack and Jake Jeckel.. the content, beats, raps, message.. for me this album eas the pinnacle of ICP albums, true classic legendary album.. the albums before and after we’re great but not in the same fashion, for instance they may have had a handful of songs that hit all around and the rest were average or below average.. this was record was amazing

Great Milenko got me through some tough times! It makes me feel so many different emotions listening to it. It's therapeutic because it makes me laugh, cry, & even feel anger. I can tap into & release all the anger towards my alcoholic father when I hear Halls Of Illusions. Especially when I hear it live.

I saw them on the great milenko tour a couple years ago and they did the album top to bottom, no extras no encores, killer fucking show.

Juggalos are the last of the punks, the only remaining true subculture. I have huge respect for everything they have done, even though I don't listen to their music or anything like that. It's true, genuine outsider art.

As someone who grew up angry, poor, and white, you hit the nail right on the head. It was a family that invited me in when my other alternative was an angry, abusive dad, and a scared, complicit mom. Thank you for the video. Always happy to hear when people see ICP and Juggalos for what they truly are.

These guys are THE de facto story about the American Dream! Pretty much started out in a basement and ended up a massive, multi-million dollar empire with pretty much zero radio play, zero help from the music industry, etc. Absolute business geniuses! The thing too is that they are absolutely nice as can be and they work HARD as hell. Their work ethic is second to none. Been a listener of them since Carnival of Carnage (Yeah, I know...OLD) and you have to take them for what they are. Jokers and comedians with a message underneath it all and musical beats that are experimental. They're Detroit staples and still have a massive following in the city. Also, not to be a stickler..but it's E-SHA-MM...another crazy weirdo that could only be from a place like Detroit. The Godfather of acid rap and a living legend in the underground music industry....I can tell you for sure, "Pass Me By", is a hard hitter of theirs for not fearing death and the afterlife. One last thing (those who know will know!), I want to give a shout out to Cactus Sack!

I grew up listening to this music, juggalos were always the most accepting, but also some of the weirdest most psychotic but honestly solid good-hearted people I've met

from a Juggalo, thanks for not using our subculture as clickbait like most tend to. mad respect homie. So many people have a preconceived notion about who and what we are.. almost ends up being our best defense. The only people who come to the carnival are those invited from the inside or they found their way somehow because they needed it. balance your Karma and The carnival will provide. whoop whoop

I'm one of those people ICP saved. I've been through just about every music scene one can think of and there have been times where I just didn't get along with anyone from the hardcore, punk, emo, or goth communities and just had a really hard time, especially in high school when I was getting bullied. I never admitted to people that I listened to ICP, that would have lead to more bullying, but there have been multiple times in my life since then where I'll turn on ICP and when I'm really depressed they actually help me out a ton. I've never been to any of their live shows, and I only like probably 20% of their material, but thats enough. Even having just a few songs that you can relate to can be a small light in the darkest of times. I'm 35 now and when I have really bad days I still turn them on and they help me get by which is all I could ever ask from any musician to be honest.

i know all that too. i became a juggalo because it felt ok to not necessarily belong, and thats ok cause shit, at the carnival we got the 3 rings and we can fuckin boogie woogie woo no matter your shape size, or taste in puddings.when life gets you down- let icps cartoon nightmares do all your killing for you. thats how i feel. they got a song about basically anything worth making a rhyme about too. the association through the non association socially is neat. ever met a juggalo you didnt at least get along with? not likely-your a juggalo. the meaning of that has changed and muddied now that icp is more visible, and the era of the first six cards has played out , the mystery and intrigue of the storyline and mythos of the carnival and the crumbling of time itself happened at some point lol i remember whenever it was near impossible to get any info on them or their music unless you were super dedicated. i just so happened to catch the great milenko in 97 cause i heard boogie woogie wu, and was intrigued, and listened to the rest of it, and have not liked any other bands music as much otherwise since. im 33. did you catch any interviews that were being had, or freshly aired, or see their cameo on mad tv or any of that stuff and freak out like i did back then cause it was so rare?

Juggalos are some of the nicest people. My Deaf brother was obsessed with ICP growing up so I ended up taking him to see them and everyone there was so nice to him. They painted his face, propped him up on peoples shoulders to get a better view etc

Jekyl bros was kinda their black album. Thats when they were trying to mainstream, bringing snoop dog and odb to shit all over their music. Its a good album but im glad that time was short.

As a Juggalo, obviously--I just want to say thanks for taking the time to give us an honest look and sincere review. Conceptually ICP is one of the rarest groups you will come across, there are so many layers that I've been a Juggalo for 20 years and still find crumbs of something new, or a new point of view that I've only been able to realize as I've gotten older. Its a shame that they're written off so quickly but its being a hidden gem that has made them so special. Thanks for giving Juggalos a chance, we're tolerant to a fault--and thats often taken advantage of.

Through a weird chain of connections, particularly in Detroit where my family is from, I hung out with ICP in the 90’s a couple times when I was a teenager. They’re extremely nice guys from my experience. I also concur with all of the other commenters who speak of how wonderful overall the Juggalo community is. Even if you can’t stand their music, I don’t know how someone could have a bad time at one of their shows.

One doesn’t have to like their music, but ICP’s always had God tier production. Their beats are incredible.

Man, I wasn’t expecting to shed a few tears with a video about how wholesome ICP can be, thank you so much for this info Finn

This is by far the most beautifully thorough and honest take on ICP. Thank you for being respectful and digging deeper. Juggalos as a whole are the most amazing group of people I’ve ever had the honor of meeting.

I was introduced to icp when I was 17 in 1997. Immediately hooked. Wacky lyrics, catchy beats and a community all its own. The music and genre grew to the point of several artist on the label all representing those of us without a voice. I'm still a hardcore fan to this day, even with the split of twiztid and icp kinda just going back to their own thing. I'll be down till I'm dead in the ground! Whoop whoop

As someone who grew up to this because their parents were Juggalos…This video passed the vibe check..and the comments passed the vibe check. I eventually grew out of the music..but I come back to it every now then because they are a loving community, you feel safe. I have three types of mental illness and suffer with a great deal of unwanted thoughts. Finn offers a very positive outlook on life for me. He offers escapism. He makes me laugh. He looks past a person’s vices and finds the good. I get so negative towards humanity, and Finn offers me a ray of hope that there are nice people in the world snd things aren’t all bad. These are just some immediate reasons I can think of as to why Finn helps me, but there are more. I don’t know how much of Finn’s content you have seen, but if you suffer with problems and want an enjoyable distraction then watch his shows 💎

This was honestly the best outsider's perspective I have ever heard in my freaking life. You are fantastic my dude

As a long time (non Juggalo) ICP fan I'd say their longevity comes from starting independent and riding the wave until the rest of the industry was forced to become independent. Now every artist is in a world where they are most comfortable. Their secret is cryptic merchandising. They made buying ICP products fun and valuable. Sometimes it's a 12 part comic book with a new CD single inside. Other times it's a specific color album that contains a bonus song or secret message inside. They made collecting their merch fun for their fans.

This was a really well done piece. I’m 36, I started listening to ICP when I was 13-14, and have ever since. - It’s a good feeling inside to see the boys get the recognition and respect they deserve. Good job.

I did the same exact thing started listening at age 13 and i listened to them here and there over the years still went to their concerts when they came to cleveland ohio. A couple years ago they were in cleveland a band called mushroomhead a metal/rap band from cleveland and my buddy knew their one drummer and we went without any tickets and while we were hanging with mushroomhead ICP stage manager came up to my buddy and I then asked us if we wanted to go on stage at the end of ICP show and spray faygo on the crowd. I honestly felt my life was complete to get to stand next to violet j while he is singing and pour faygo on his head . My buddy wasn"t a jugglo but he like a couple song he was a metal guy and was there for mushroomhead but he said to me that out of all the different concerts we had went to I ve never seen you enjoy a concert that much. After that night he got to spray faygo from the stage at his first ICP concert he was a jugglo for sure. Im 36 now and started listening to them alot again in 2020 and still listen to the and kottonmouth king almost everyday. God bless to all out there and hope you can find what you need thru music because it saved me not when I was that kid 23 years ago but 2 years ago when I started listening again and im feeling and doing the best i have in a long time and this video just gave me hope that maybe there is hope for open people.

I helped a friend run a small venue for local music acts. We had a group of local juggalo artists play. People told us over and over not to have the show for a variety of reasons mostly reduced down to the white trash thing (even though most of the acts were black.) We had the show anyway and they were amazing people. They were the only group of fans that showed up to a Local show in iowa and STAYED for every single act. We didnt have a liquor license so if anyone wanted to drink it had to be on the down low and they did. They did an amazing job at keeping each other in check with it. There was no problem at all with the fans or act. The only arrest that night was our own security guard. The fans even stayed afterwards and helped us clean up. It was an amazing night! RESPECT TO THE JUGGALOS!

To Juggalos it's no secret that they are being judged day in and day out. When a venue gives them the chance they go out of their way to self-police. They marched on Washington DC in protest of being labeled a gang and after they left the locals were amazed out how clean the area was afterwards, they picked up after themselves and left the place better than it was when they got there unlike most protest groups who leave garbage behind. The venue I worked for booked Juggalo shows on a whim and we wound up not even putting security on staff for those nights because they would do it themselves. They have class, it just doesn't fit in the same spectrum as everyone else.

The lore idea of a Dark Carnival with each album being a concept of a joker card is actually incredibly clever and creative.

Wow, I never knew or understood much about ICP or the Juggalo scene, but it makes so much sense after watching this. I'm really glad those dudes found success and that so many people found artists to connect with on such a level

Not a fan of the music at all but loads of respect to them being themselves, loving their fans, and just being roudy

My best friend growing up was WAAAY into ICP, by proxy I heard all their albums many many times. haha. Once I started absorbing some of their lyrics, and starting to be able to "sing" along with them, I started noticing very quickly that hidden among the graphic imagery of their music was a very positive message of anti bigotry, acceptance of not only other people, but also accepting your own faults and learning you don't have to be defined by them, you can improve and make changes within yourself to be a better person. A better person, not by typical definition bring a straight laced person and defining success by wealth, but simple things you can change on a daily basis like the way you treat others. I remember thinking just how clever these guys actually are. To this day, they've got a few albums I still listen to because they are unlike anything else out there. Well made. Well produced. Better story telling than a lot of other groups regardless of genre.

I never get sick of ICP. I’ve loved them for about 18 years. Nobody gets it because they aren’t listening. They’re the most entertaining, nice, badass band in existence. They’re geniuses.

Dude ICP are legends and every gathering proves it! This years gathering of the juggalos was a prime example, every person I’ve talked to says it was one of the best this year and every year gets better. These guys never miss

I will absolutely admit... before watching this I was one of those people that thought they were lame and their fans were weirdos, addicts, and dorks. This really changed my outlook. I cant say Ill become a huge fan of the music or anything but my respect level has drastically increased and shame in myself for not doing more research before repeating judgements I hear on the internet. For someone that struggles to feel like I "fit in" in most situations it is honestly heartwarming to know that people find that in that community. I even found myself kind of interested in one of these gatherings.

The Juggalos are fascinating as a subculture. Some how, ICP turned into pop-cultures collective punching bag. They were the one "safe target" for everyone to make fun of. When you see that, it's usually a sign that the rest of the world is missing something. Really interesting take, Finn.

I got huge goosebumps when you played that clip from the unveiling. I don't really like their music, but I had some juggalo friends as a teenager and they were really accepting. they were from broken homes and just wanted people to accept them. I was blown away when I heard the unveiling for the first time as a teenager. I have a hell of a lot of respect for them. Fuckin' magnets, how do they work?

I was a Juggalo back in the day and ICP defo helped me through some shit I went through..They have a tune about everything..it's magic.

I’ve always known there’s more to ICP than people give them credit for. I read Violent J’s book and it made me really emotional. That dude has been through some shit. I love ICP’s music too. I think it doesn’t get enough credit for being as good as it really is

@@willrunriot eh also most musician/entertainer autobiographies are written with ghost writers anyway. Basically an actual writer does a huge long series of interviews and uses those recordings to create a narrative for the artist's life and then writes from the artist's perspective. I'm a huge fan of that genre of books and easily over 95% of them are written that way. So can't really knock J for doing it too.

Behind the paint is one of the best books I've ever read. J has a great story telling style. You hear his voice reading it like he is just telling you the story in person.

In high school, 2003ish, they were at their prime, and my best friend was absolutely obsessed with them. She kinda read into their music way too much and found some crazy deep meaning and it did bring her out of a very dark place. I don't get it, but I didn't need it, really. But I still have respect for their community and getting where they were despite all their obstacles. After watching into their video more... I guess she wasn't reading into it at all. Lol! She just got the message

I was watching this on my tv and I had to go and find my phone. This vid was amazing. As a teen I was a die hard juggalo, I’m positive I’ve seen them live more than any other group or band. I changed and fell out of the scene. At 39 this video reminded me how important the message of ICP was to me growing up and to so many others. Excellent work!

I have always thought of ICP as the media portrayed them. It’s really amazing to hear the back story. Thank you for sharing and being you.

A story I've heard a million times. I was a juggalo for probably 7 or 8 years, I still go back and have a listen from time to time but back in the day it was all Psychopathic. Wouldn't say it saved my life but definitely helped me get through the tough times as a teen in the mid 90's, especially moving from a small rural town in SW Michigan to a big city school in SE Portland. I think, you can apply the "There's people that listen to Jimmy and then there's the people that actually hear what Jimmy is saying" to it. I was a angry, lost and pissed off at the world... they allowed me to put things into context, and know I wasn't alone. M🤡❤️ fam.

This is so deep. Much love for doing this dive into the life of essential Juggalo info. Been down for 21 years myself. I miss my copy of Behind the Paint. They spelled it all out in that book. How they were raised and so much of their adventures through becoming what they are. I hope they ever do a part 2. They use real things in their music though. That’s why, and what, in my opinion, makes them so successful. P. S. I kind of knew what they’re point/message was from the get go. First album I heard was Milenko. But the song Under the Moon is why I saw it. Anyone interested in Wicca will understand exactly what that song says. But then, more importantly was Hallelujah.

Every once in a while, I’ll watch the feud they had on the Howard Stern show! They roasted Sharon so hard and i love it!!

As I've gotten older, I've kind of fell away from ICP. Just not a huge fan of the music anymore. But, strangely, even as my love for the music dropped, my respect for them still kept growing. They're a couple of "weirdos," but they're such genuine dudes with hearts of pure gold. Juggalos, like any fandom, has some pretty terrible people, but it sucks seeing so many people write them off as a whole because of that. Most of the Juggalo fandom are amazing people who also share ICP's heart of gold. I know this is already long, but one story sticks with me. I was at this gas station a few years back and I seen a couple people walk in, full clown makeup, tats all over, chains. The kind of people who just look like gang members. There was an older woman at the counter and she'd dropped her money somewhere and as it turned out she was homeless and that money she dropped was the only $20 she'd seen that week. Those two dudes noticed her in tears and walking out of the store and immediately walked up to the counter to ask the cashier if they could buy her stuff. I watched them take it to her and then handed her a $100 bill. Really made her day. I'll never forget that day.

That's the best thing about this channel. It doesn't matter what kind of music it is you will talk about it. I went a few years where ICP was the only thing I would listen to. Thank you for doing this video.

Riddle Box was the first album I'd ever owned, I was seven years old and my neighbor had given me a bootleg cassette tape. I listened to that cassette about four times before my parents took it away from me. That day was the day my life started down the path its currently on. I'm not a juggalo or anything but I do have me some love for the Wicked Clowns.

For both class and regional reasons ICP never appealed to me but I remember hearing "Homies" for the first time and really admiring their message. I came from a pretty dysfunctional family and struggled with self-esteem and I've always been drawn to the people who had something in their lives that made them stare into the abyss. The kids from exceptionally stable families came off as oblivious and non-introspective.

Love your channel man... These are things that are so interesting and otherwise one wouldn't know about them. Thanks and keep it up!

ICP and the Juggalos are dope and I am glad they exist. Been to a Show of theirs in the early 2000s in San Diego, was a really good time. It also seems that the public is coming around on them and they are not the butt of jokes as much as they used to be. I would love to go to a gathering some day. I think they are Legends. Great video!

loved "Great Milenko" & "Jackel Brothers" when i was a kid. In the 90s i was into b-movie horror, sci fi and video games so without all the juggalo lore i was super entertained by them on my own terms.

I was super into them in the height of their popularity, studied their lyrics, listened to all of their associated acts and loved it all. They get a ton of unwarranted hate and despite the dark tones of their act, they had some of the most positive messages I’ve ever heard in music. I’ll forever love these guys for what they’ve done

This is one of my favorite content pieces on KZread. Finn has a trademark fairness to his reviews and I think my favorite overall point he brings out is that in this society it's cool and encouraged to hate particular groups of poor people. Aside from that I really appreciated the unrecognized messages behind ICP's material.

As a Juggalo for the last 23 years, these guys are amazing and genius. There has been so many instances that I've needed to feel like I belong. These people have saved me in so many things.... my love for ICP will NEVER die. I legit thank God I found them. And i thank God they exist. Keep it real. 🤘🤘🤘

This is probably the greatest video you've made so far, the way you explained the religious connection of shang-ri-la and the dark carnival was likely the best explanation of that i've heard and FUCK YEAH on your comment about the classist nature of a lot of ICP/Juggalo hate. I know you don't like ICP but you can come to the gathering anytime, you're an honorary lo for this video lol.

Fun fact: These guys are self trained wrestlers who have also wrestled for both WCW and WWE. JCW was also the first wrestling company that AEW star Ruby Soho signed with and she's VERY popular

JCW has Vampiro as their champion. Sabu, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Jeff Hardy, and Mankind have all wrestled in JCW and are juggalos.

Milenko was definitely their set off record, 99-2005 ICP was probably their best years. I was expecting you to mention their side projects. Their 1st Dark Lotus CD with Marz is one of the most unique albums i ever heard and it is really good.

Been waiting for this one! No matter what anyone thinks of ICP on a musical level, on a business level they are up there with Kiss, Ozzy, Alice Cooper etc. in regards to business and marketing in the music industry, they have a generational following that will be there for decades, even beyond them. That's legendary shit.

Being from the rural Midwest, there was a lot of overlap in nu metal and ICP fans back in the early 00s. The Juggalo kids were usually also Slipknot fans too so we hung out in the same circles and they were always super cool. Never got into them but I loved their branding and DIY ethos. Also digging all the anti-gatekeeping on both channels.

I can vouch for this. Around 2003-2004 I was a regular user of a Slipknot web forum and eventually became a moderator. There were quite a few ICP fans. I wouldn't say they had a huge presence, they were still a minority amongst people who were just getting into extreme metal with Slipknot acting as their gateway band but they were noticeable. Most of them were pretty cool guys.

As long time Juggalo (down since late 94') I've seen icp 17 times, in 5 different states. They have over 30 albums, 3 movies, games and yearly concerts. I can testify that juggalos are mostly polite, and kind, just misunderstood. I've seen the kindness of icp and their peeps first hand and I have nothing but love and respect for them. I'll always be down 4 life, Whoop Whoop! MCL!

I just came across this video. Thanks for making it! I've enjoyed some of there stuff but didn't know all of this. I was sorta curious about the hole Jugalo thing and didn't really understand it but now I do.I will be listening to more in the future and now have a new apriciation for ICP and there music! i decided to deep dive into ICP about 5 years ago and figured out the same thing. not my sound or style, but they're marketing geniuses and it really says something about someone who can drop out in 9th grade then go on to market themselves so successfully for multiple decades. p inspiring honestly. and that's why for the past 5 years i've been an honorary juggalo.

I was a big fan in middle school and while I moved on to different music as I got older, my cousin was still very much a juggalo. In the days after he passed away, I listened to the 6 jokers cards albums to commemorate him and remember when we were kids listening to ICP. A lot of their music is silly, sure, but a lot of it is also very deeply conceived. I've read Violent Js autobiography and it was clear that he is a very poetic thinker, both of those guys are truly very genuinely nice people and care about their fans and humanity in general. Despite having a hard upbringing they found some way to have an impact on the world and stay original. Honestly, the clown thing may seem goofy to many. But I don't see it as any more goofy as the fake characters that many popular artists present themselves as. The top 40 acts in the country, they are all clowns in a way. They just wear their facepaint on the inside.

Music aside, I've had so much respect for ICP over the years just for their business stuff. Absolute geniuses when it comes to branding and merchandising.

Great video Finn!! ICP and being a Juggalo through my formative years from 96-07 really helped me with all of the bull shit that life threw at me. The friends I made along the way are invaluable to me. After getting married and having my children, I grew out of the hardcore Juggalo way but I'll always look back on those years with great fondness.

ICP in the 90s was incredible. Sadly when they stopped using Mike E Clark as their main producer and changed musically after Jay started smoking weed they really became a different band, but that 90s era is legendary. Legit still sounds amazing today, especially Milenko and Riddlebox. I was a huge juggalo back in the day lol

I have never been a ICP fan, except for that lyric “Dunk my nuts in your soup…bloop”. Thanks for opening my eyes to their purpose beyond enhancing broths.

My supervisor at my previous job was a hardcore juggalo when he was young. He is one of the nicest and most genuine guy I’ve ever met.

I've been to 2 gatherings as a non Juggalo and it was a fuckin blast. Juggalos for the most part are good people and I even as an outsider I genuinely think ICP loves their fans. There isn't another music act out there that puts themselves out there as much as they do. I wish some of the groups I liked would do some of the cool shit they do for their fans. I'm glad finn put this out there because I always felt the punk and metal communities try and act like they're not the same freaks and weirdos that juggalos are. We are the same, it's just that our music is better.

all i've ever seen or heard about ICP was about the crazy parties, drugs and violent lyrics. This video did a great job of showing an entirely different side of everything. Thank you.

Any group with a positive message gets my vote. Even if I don't like the music, I respect the hustle. It isn't easy getting up on stage and going ham with your passion. Especially with all the haters.

I've worked with these guys on a show before and I can confirm ICP are the sweetest, kindest most humble down to earth people I've ever met in the music business.

Fantastic video and review. I was really into their music in the late 90s into the 2000s. Every time I listen to them it takes me back. It's true what you said, their music really makes you feel positive and that you belong to a family. It's definitely an acquired taste if you've never listened to them before. When I was in high school i casually listened to them, so my criminology teacher made me write an essay on ICP because juggalos had just been declared a gang, and another kid in my class wrote his essay about how much juggalos sucked. My essay was much more persuasive.
