Thank you SO much for confirming what I have long suspected, that he does incorrectly tell us the D goes all the way up to F. Great video.

I can't remember when I figured the tuning out, but the fingering I basically got from the video you mentioned. It's a great riff. It takes a hell of a lot of talent to produce music like this. But James has it in his locker, that is without doubt, just I think these days he doesn't seem to let it loose as much.

I saw jdb video recently that you're referring to. Good to see him play that riff - my 1st thought was _how on earth did he come up with such a weird tuning ?_ (you're right btw; even he says it wrongly, lol!) In the end I concluded he must've dropped a Jazzmaster out of a 4th floor hotel window, gone down, collected it, necked half a dozen vodkas & then composed that riff. But fuck it man, it is very damn cool - thx jdb, frusciante, jimi😂

Always nice to receive a guitar lesson from Lee Ingleby, Of course it is great lesson to achieve the way JDB originally meant it, but I found he made things overly complex with that peculiar tuning, and how he decided to pick some of the notes from moderately difficult positions even if he could have pick'd them much easier closer to the nut for example. I still think I prefer to play it with standard tuning, and I noticed I've taught myself it little different you showed you would play it. Just my opinion but you'll still be able to spice it up a little and make it sound great in standard tuning. Great lesson anyway, Chees!

Hey Man glad you liked the video. He plays the same way at 2:28 on the video. Although a slightly different fingering. With the video i was making a point, if you use altered tunings you can make notes rub against each other that would be difficult before hand!
