The Secret Behind the Face of the Buraq

www.spiritualexcellence.com/i...
In the blessed night of Laylatul Isra wal-Miraj, the Holy Prophet ﷺ was granted an invitation to the Divine Presence and ascended unto the Heavens upon a mystical creature named the Buraq.
The Buraq was a winged mount with the face of a human being, and in addition to being a profoundly mystical creature, represents a deep spiritual secret.
The essential goal of the spiritual path is the transcendence of nafs and ego-based consciousness, and the shift from lower level consciousness to what is known as nafs al-mutma'ina, the peaceful, contented and certain self (Level 3 State Consciousness).
Once the self is surrendered and brought into submission in the Presence of God, and the human heart and soul re-established as the seat of consciousness, the human being begins to realize their true potential as an honored and noble servant and deputy of the Divine, a Khalifa of Allah Almighty.
Towards this goal, the progressive attainment of the capacity to attain inner stillness and peace is essential, and so we reclaim freedom by ultimately transcending the ego and the mind with the power of the heart and soul.

    Dear friends, peace and blessings. Just to clarify, this topic was based on the popular images of the buraq that have often been depicted in the miniatures commemorating the holy night journey of the Prophet ﷺ. I did not do extensive research prior to publishing this as to whether these descriptions were the exact representations of the buraq based upon the extensive body of canonical sources (I should have been a bit more thorough). Nonetheless, let us not lose the lesson. The point is seldom a literal one, but rather a moral one. Thank you for understanding. Best and most blessed regards.

    @Urvogel , Hi...., glad to hear that u interested to one of a creatures that our religion mention on our Holy Qur'an. From what i learned about Buraq, based on Qur'an and Hadith tells, Prophet Muhammad SAW, just described it the size, the looks, and the capabilities of the buraq it self, but not so specifically,,, Why?? bcz during that time, ''most of'' ancient arab peoples are little unintelligent, barbaric, unpatient, and very very interested in superticious things, thats why we called it 'Jahiliyah Age' (dark age in arabic). So, He (Muhammad SAW) always used wise and simplify words to tell to everyone about anything, including Buraq and the journeys it self,,, He said that Buraq size are bigger than donkey and smaller than a mule. (never heard/read about looks like horse, but maybe i missed). He also described, that buraq has a beautiful looks(beauty are relative, not only human face), and it can travel so fast. He also said, one step jump (loop) of buraq same as distance of the farthest eyes can see (naked eyes could see orion belt stars if the night so clear). It means, Buraq could travel way way faster than light. So i think, Prophet Muhammad SAW used a simplify metaphor words to described about buraq, so everyone in that time could understand and have more faith than logical physics description! (at that time, faith it's more important than logic for most of peoples, bcz of 'pagan' and 'supernatural' things have higher goals, unlike present). So, what He did, it's just like, we try to explained what is space shuttle rocket looks like to the tribal peoples (without picture of course), so they could imagine and maybe understand. But, our image will so so different than tribal peoples image in their minds about space shuttle. Right?? In this Buraq case, we are the tribal peoples :) I hope u satisfied of my answer, feel free to ask :)

    I was reading some ancient Hindu scripts talking about the Special Spacecrafts like Vessels in which their gods can travel spiritually. Like some type of spacecraft for the travel of the soul and such vessels are not material but spiritual in nature which allows for the traveller to get into any spot in universe in less than second powered by the strength of one's mind.

    I am confused how the self/mind/purified nafs can be symbolised as the winged steed the Buraq that carried prophet Muhammad (saw). From authentic sources the evidence points that the Buraq was a real creature. Dr Yasir Qadhi states from (Al Bukhari) "It is smaller than a mule but larger than a donkey. Pure white and it was called al Biraaq (lightening). And it puts its hoof where the eye can see". Here is where some legends begin - the image of Biraaq with wings is not narrated. This hadith says the Biraaq is a physical creature which can run much faster as a normal horse. So fast that it jumps as far as the eye can see. Every second 20/30 miles. But this is a physical creature. According to Tirmidhi, the prophet PBUH said "it had a saddle and a harness". So Jibraeel AS was holding on the harness and the prophet PBUH mounted al Biraaq. Then its narrated al Biraaq jumped up, but Jibraeel AS said "woe to you, how dare you do this, for walahi no one has ridden you that is more blessed in the eyes of Allah than your current rider". Note this shows al Biraaq has been ridden by other riders. This again shows the Biraaq is a physical creature because it reacted like a normal animal. It also shows Allah has created things beyond our knowledge. arqadhi.blogspot.com/2015/11/021-night-journey-ascension-to-heavens-1_25.html

    It is absolutely important. One wouldn't undertake any journey, path or process without a guide or teacher, one who has traversed the way. Spirituality and religion are no different. There are many pitfalls upon the path, a good guide in invaluable and necessary. Seek one who leads to truth, speaks with truth, is not seeking to be worshipped, but rather inspires you to worship God and inspires your heart with love for the beloved Messenger ﷺ.

    Monsieur, I have some questions. Is Sufism another sect like Sunni and Shia? Or is it just the spiritual and esoteric part of Islam that encompasses all sects of Islam. I can so relate with the undogmatic spirituality you present in your videos. However, I've seen videos in KZread of Sufis worshipping graves and tombs which is shirk and against Islam. Is that practice really a part of Sufism or is it a cultural malpractice?

  • @spiritualexcellence

    @spiritualexcellence

    6 жыл бұрын

    Sister Manar, "Sufism" is simply a word that has been ascribed to the vital and absolutely essential inner dimension of Islam that is specifically the cultivation of sincerity and humility. It is not a sect, and without absolute dedication to this dimension of Islam, the religion is but empty form devoid of light and life. Regarding anyone worshipping graves or tombs, I have no idea why any would do such a thing. However, seeking blessings (tabarruk) at holy sites, which includes the presence of holy people (it is irrelevant if they are physically alive or have transcended) can be of great benefit and is an undisputed element of Islamic faith and practice.

  • @manalkhanofficial

    Ihsan Alexander yes that's what I'm talking about. Seeking blessings - don't we just seek it from Allah? Why from specific people and that too dead ones?

  • @spiritualexcellence

    @spiritualexcellence

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes, Allah Almighty is the Absolute Source of all blessings, energy, light, etc., yet we must use means (wasila) in this world. For example, the nourishment your body gets from the food you consume or medicine you take is from the light and power of God (to believe the food sustains you or the medicine heals you is actually shirk), yet you must still use the means. This is known as Sunnat Allah. There is no greater means to the blessings of Allah Almighty than the heart of one who is empty of all else, all dunya, and has only love and presence of God in his/her heart. These, first and foremost are the prophets and messengers, peace be upon them, are the bridges for human beings to the Presence of the Divine. This is why Allah Almighty has sent human beings as His representatives. The principle of tabarruk is well established in religion and there are many examples within the Qur'an. It's a vast subject, and an important one, that is dealt with extensively in all its facets in many places. But to simplify and summarize, it is not only permissible, but encouraged to seek blessings *through* means, whether that is a holy site or a holy person (alive or "dead" is irrelevant, souls are transcendent and timeless) or even a holy relic. As believers, we must be humble, for it was nothing other than arrogance and pride that was the downfall of Iblis. This is why "Sufism" is concerned primarily with the cultivation of excellence in character and conduct, the development of *adab*. In Allah Almighty's love and light.
