The Second Amendment Is Not Complicated

Ойын-сауық

Militia, Tyranny, Well Regulated, The 2A is not complicated,
bit.ly/2CHLudt
The concept of the Second Amendment has been overly complicated, with discussions centered around the meaning of individual words, punctuation, and historical context.
However, the essence of the amendment is rather straightforward - it was established to ensure that the people of the United States have the means to protect themselves against a potentially tyrannical government.
The amendment was put in place after the American Revolution, where the people fought against a government that they deemed to be tyrannical.
The victory was secured in part due to the people's ability to use firearms to fight back against their oppressors.
After establishing a new government, the people recognized the need for a federal government to protect them, but also acknowledged that governments have a tendency to become tyrannical over time.
The people realized that the best way to protect themselves against a potentially tyrannical government was to ensure that they had the means to do so.
The Second Amendment was written to guarantee the people's right to bear arms, as this would give them the ability to resist and fight back against a government that became tyrannical.
The amendment was designed to ensure that the people would have a fighting chance, just as they did during the American Revolution.
Furthermore, the amendment was put in place to prevent the government from preemptively disarming the people.
The founders recognized that if the government were to take away the people's firearms, it would be much easier for a potentially tyrannical government to take control.
Therefore, the Second Amendment was established to ensure that the people's right to bear arms was protected, and that the government would not have the power to disarm them.
The core purpose of the amendment is simple and straightforward.

Marine rifle qualification IS a two week affair. Week one is called "Grass Week" and you are instructed by rifle coaches (death by powerpoint) and spend time around a barrel with silhouettes painted on them and you "snap in" (you view the target through your ACOG, and practice your firing positions and your holds.) Week two is firing week. First two days are practice, wednesday is pre-qual, and thursday is qual. This was my yearly routine for five years, and you don't spend two weeks training, you sit through a powerpoint going through the same stuff you learned in boot camp and half the time you are released early to go to your barracks (if you don't tell anybody you've been released.) I'm really sick of veterans, especially marksmanship coaches exaggerating the rifle training that Marines go through, and think that should be the standard for everyone. You are expected to fulfill a rifleman role in a rifle squad in any event that requires a cook or admin clerk to pick up a rifle and face combat, that is why Marines undergo this training, not for the safety of others, but to literally kill people. If you're an anti-2A Marine, you are no kin of mine, I disown you as a fellow Marine, and will remember who you are.

The ole Deckplate Chief came out in me and I dressed him down in addition to called him out for the way he mistreated my friends and I growing up in NYC. That's not true, though. The British government made no moves to disarm the populace, and the common Brit was still able to own just about any firearm on the market until the 1950s. What happened at Lexington was that the British had been informed that a 6 pounder cannon which had been stolen from a British armory was being held there. The Lexington militia simply came out to make sure that the British only targeted the Lexington armory, where the gun was allegedly kept, and didn't enter private homes. Then someone fired a shot and all hell broke loose

The Second Amendment broke down using the terms and definitions of the time: *"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."* *_A well regulated Militia_* Richard Henry Lee: “A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves…and include all men capable of bearing arms.” (Additional letters from the Federal Farmer, at 169, 1788) James Madison: “A WELL REGULATED militia, composed of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country.” (1st Annals of Congress, at 434, June 8th 1789 "The militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves, ... all men capable of bearing arms;" - Richard Henry Lee 1788 A Regulated Militia was anyone 18-40 that was capable with firearms. Im Well Armed, Well Versed in Firearms, and I am one of the People (US Citizen)...therefore I am part of a Well Regulated Militia. There are a dozen or so examples that are found showing that "Well Regulated" does not mean that Government has control of it. The following examples of "Well Regulated" are taken from the Oxford English Dictionary, and bracket in time the writing of the 2nd amendment: 1709: “If a liberal Education has formed in us well-regulated Appetites and worthy Inclinations.” 1714: “The practice of all well-regulated courts of justice in the world.” 1812: “The equation of time … is the adjustment of the difference of time as shown by a well-regulated clock and a true sun dial.” 1848: “A remissness for which I am sure every well-regulated person will blame the Mayor.” 1862: “It appeared to her well-regulated mind, like a clandestine proceeding.” 1894: “The newspaper, a never wanting adjunct to every well-regulated American embryo city.” The phrase “well-regulated” was in common use long before 1789, and remained so for a century thereafter. It referred to the property of something being in proper working order. Something that was well-regulated was calibrated correctly, functioning as expected. Establishing government oversight of the people’s arms was not only not the intent in using the phrase in the 2nd amendment, it was precisely to render the government powerless to do so that the founders wrote it. *_being necessary to the security of a free State_* It says exactly what it was intended for, not for the defense of your home but the security of freedom within the "state" meaning Country. This encompasses the entire Country, not just a home or individual.... *_the right of the people to keep and bear Arms_* The Right of the People, meaning every man, woman, and child has an Individual Right. Meaning that even if the majority of people demand to have their Rights taken by the Government I still have my Right, I never forfeited or gave consent for them to be taken and no one speaks for me. Even if Government wrote laws to diminish the Constitution those Rights are still mine as the Government does not have a higher claim of Authority over me than I do. Keep and Bear means on person or in hand, any and all arms* that exist. Arms meaning any weapon used for offense or defense. *_shall not be infringed._* I shouldn't have to break this down but meaning zero restriction. No regulations, no restrictions, no taxes, that all bearable firearms/accessories/parts/ammunitions/destructive devices and all other weapons are to be free to own by the citizenry. No Government or Union/Group shall interfere on this Amendment in any form or manner, for the citizens will carry arms to keep the security of the free state, against all threats foreign or domestic. Nunn v. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243 (1846) is a Georgia Supreme Court ruling that a state law ban on handguns was an unconstitutional violation of the Second Amendment. This was the first gun control measure to be overturned on Second Amendment grounds.[1] "Nor is the right involved in this discussion less comprehensive or valuable: "The right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed." The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is, that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right, originally belonging to our forefathers, trampled under foot by Charles I. and his two wicked sons and successors, reestablished by the revolution of 1688, conveyed to this land of liberty by the colonists, and finally incorporated conspicuously in our own Magna Charta!" When you become a Public Servant, you are supposed to REPRESENT THE PEOPLE WHO ELECT YOU, to uphold and protect the Constitution, all officials should be Constitutionalists through and through - it should be a mandatory requirement to run for office. If the Supreme Courts "interpretations" will lead to change in how the Constitution is interpreted, while the interpretation is ever evolving, then the Constitution means nothing as the interpretations could say one thing and they can "interpret" whats written as something else and go from there. This is how the ATF has been criminalizing law abiding citizens since their conception and we've seen how dangerous that becomes (See: WACO and Ruby Ridge) What the Founding Fathers practiced and what they wrote should be weighed and valued, not how people "interpret" it today as the new age views seem to be radically different than what the Founding Fathers practiced themselves. The Constitution and our Founding Fathers wanted us to be AS armed as the State, that we should have any bearable arms we could want, as a deterrent to tyranny. Civilians owned Warships fitted with explosives and multiple cannons, the Founders contracted to build the first automatic rifle but could not afford it, it was something they were doing for the people. There were a slew of "advanced" firearms during the time: Dupe & Company's 14-Barrel Flintlock, Chambers Flintlock, Puckle gun, Belton Flintlock, Ferguson Rifle, Kalthoff Repeater, Nock gun, Chinese rocket arrows, Hwacha, Hand cannons, Chinese lever crossbow, Duckfoot pistol, German wheel-lock rifles, Rampart guns, Volley guns, Death battery, German axe pistols. They had rifles that carried a handful of rounds also like the Girandoni Rifle that held 22-25 shots. (Mag limit argument). To suggest that civilians couldn't own any and all arms today and that the Constitution didn't cover them is preposterous. Do you believe that they couldn't envision that technology would advance? If you don't agree with these claims then Free Speech is also limited to goose-quill pen and an iron gall or carbon-based ink if that argument is consistent. *Sources and other Important Links* : *The Constitution* : www.firearmsandliberty.com/constitution.html *Bill of Rights* : www.let.rug.nl/usa/documents/1786-1800/bill-of-rights-and-the-amendments-to-the-constitution.php *Federalist Papers* : www.firearmsandliberty.com/federalist.html *Anti Federalist Papers* : www.firearmsandliberty.com/AntiFederalist/TheAntiFederalistPapers.pdf *Drafting the Declaration of Independence* : www.constitutionfacts.com/us-declaration-of-independence/drafting-the-declaration/ *Declaration of Independence* : www.constitutionfacts.com/us-declaration-of-independence/read-the-declaration/ *The Case for the American Revolution* : www.constitutionfacts.com/us-declaration-of-independence/case-for-revolution/ *The American Revolutionary Era Origin of the Second Amendment's Clauses* : www.secondamendmentinfo.com/Journal/index.html

That former Marine needs to do an integrity check... He totally misunderstood the Constitution! His argument is completely destroyed by his own words! As he said, the Constitution allows for Congress to call forth, organize, arm, and discipline the militia; but the part he missed was that these measures are for the defense of the country from an outside, hostile force! He would do better to actually read all the writings from the founding fathers on the subject! The militia is NOT a Government force, it is a group of citizens who can be called upon for the defense of the community, state, or country. He further does NOT understand that in the clauses he is reading, that the militia is already in existence, not the Government establishing it! Furthermore, his argument is completely moot in being that the 2nd Amendment is saying that in order to have a free state (nation), there lies an inherent necessity to have a militia, and that militia cannot exist if the people are not armed! The 2nd Amendment clearly states that it is the right of the people to be armed, it does NOT say the right of the militia!

Great video, thanks. Actually the people should NEVER be RULED by the Federal OR State Government. The Government exists to help us all coordinate the country as WE, at least some of us 'people' have NO TIME to figure out what we need to function as a prosperous society. Some of us are doctors, engineers, fire fighters, EMT, scientists, nurses, teachers, farmers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, machinists, mechanics, manufacturers, pilots, soldiers, etc.. So Who are the Government? They are us. We are the government. Some of us have aspirations of SERVING the country by working in the government. However like we have seen in Canada, there seems to be people or a group of people, that thinks it knows better than the rest of the country. They think they are the elite, and since they were elected by others that were too busy run themselves, they somehow think they can abandon their elected job and try to micro manage the people through executive orders, restrictions, stealing our earned money and censorship. By the way all politicians and most of us are garbage compared to a pediatric surgeon that can remove tumors from infants and save their lives. Our politicians wouldn't know where to start. So if you are a politician, do you job! Your job is SERVING the people. Don't give in to criminals, be really hard on them. Don't take self-security away from people, if you do your job they are on your side and may make the difference if there is an invasion. Don't fear the people, don't restrict the people, because after all YOU came from the same pool. If in fact you fear the people, you have to hide your agenda, you need special midnight meetings to get things done, then you are a failure and most likely you are corrupt and are trying to take advantage of the office you were elected to manage.

@@sampeeps3371 yes the Constitution has been amended, but the Bill of Rights has never been amended since they were ratified in 1791. The United States would not exist as we know it if those Bill of Rights were not adopted in the Constitution. Those amendments were necessary to prevent the government from making laws or infringing on inalienable rights. The Bill of Rights didn’t grant us these rights it basically told the Federal Government that these were God given rights that could not be granted or taken away. Even so the founding fathers made it extremely difficult to amend the constitution. That is why it is not done all the time.

I like how he goes through the wording of the Constitution talking about arming and commanding the militia but completely glosses over the fact that the states wouldn't ratify it until they added an amendment securing the right to bear arms for the people, with the thought that that will also enhance the security of the state through the militia. Funny, it's almost like those state delegates read the original Constitution and said "Wait a second, this is all great but what's keeping the government from legally disarming people? Amend it and make that explicitly clear along with these other rights and we'll sign it."

So I pose this question to encourage open response and also to educate myself as a person with no military or political background. How would the Government in modern time impose tyrannical legislation or action that would become the trigger point for the "militia" to take up arms and proceed to take violent acts against said Government? What would the militia's response look like? What would the current government use to combat said militia, the military? If so, how would someone who believes in the "militia" feel about acting out against our brothers and sisters who were at the time, enlisted in the military, or sworne police force, or other first responder, who are simply doing their job? Would that pose a bigger divide? Lastly, considering all of the above, is it even worth considering ones self as part of the "militia" if it means going against other patriots? I only ask this because, I don't know how I would feel if I took a stance against a loved one, that may result in the possibility of us having to face the other in battle (physically or metaphorically). Respectfully, -B. @colionnoir

The anti federalist papers are important too, but this is the point these sworn public servants need to be made aware of. THEY work for US. Americans control this country through the sworn public servants we grant authority to, authority that is derived from and granted by We The People. Every shred of authority every sworn public servants have, is not only temporary and contingent on them honoring their oath, but is subject to being removed when they prefer to perpetrate an abdication or dereliction of duty. And if they need clarification on that aspect of their sworn legal oath and duty, or the second amendment, or any other fundamental American values and principles, we must remind them of how America works.

The Right of The PEOPLE (citizens) to keep and bear arms Shall NOT be Infringed. Two separate Statements there which Anyone who understands simple English Grammar, can clearly see. One for each States Government (and Yes, individuals Can Volunteer for as the "Minutemen" did in the Revolutionary War), but Also One for each Individual to Also Hold that RIGHT!
