Scotland History Tours is here for people who want to learn about Scottish history and get ideas for Scottish history tours. I try to make videos which tell you tales from Scotland's past and give you information about key dates in Scottish history and historical places to visit in Scotland. Not all videos are tales from Scotland's history, some of them are about men from Scotland's past or women from Scotland's past. Basically the people who made Scotland. From April 2020 onward I've tried to give ideas for historic days out in Scotland. Essentially these are days out in Scotland for adults who are interested in historical places to visit in Scotland.
As a Scottish history tour guide people ask: Help me plan a Scottish holiday, or help me plan a Scottish vacation if your from the US. So I've tried to give a bit of history, but some places of interest in Scotland as well.

The royals aren’t boring today. It’s just that a wall of secrecy surrounds them unlike in the past. If you knew the truth you’d find they are just as treacherous, mean & greedy as their ancestors. After Charles I they just got better at news management.

I agree he is an amazing presenter, such a genial smile and twinkle in the eye - shame about the massive chip on his shoulder just because he is 1/16384th black.(see below). I find that the churlish, resentful, petty-minded grudge these people hold and which drives them to needle the issue without any good ideas of their own I find a bit pathetic, I used to get irritated - nowadays I merely feel sorry for them and can merely watch an interesting tale of history for the facts - rather than for their narrator's guileless use and smug manipulation of them. No one is being fooled by this bloke's beaming charm and hammed up cheap provincial ghost-tour lugubrious delivery and that's fine. Let him beg shamelessly for Likes and Subscribes - you never know some hapless viewers may even be sucked in! I myself don't ascribe to thinly veiled, mewling propaganda - which only just hides the snarl.... 16384 is 2 to the power of 14 which latter number I use assuming he is the same number of generations away from his slave Ancestor as the 14th viscount is from the 1st

I will have to visit Scone Palace. Think I’ll go this summer. One of my earliest memories is sitting at a table in the road celebrating the Queen’s silver jubilee, not that I understood why we were partying in the street. Spoke with my dad the night before the coronation about how he remembered taking part in a street party for Elizebeth II coronation, as a 6 year old. We both got rather melancholy, remembering family no longer with us. Their history is our history.

I was wondering about the Stone of Scone watching the ceremony, being vaguely aware of its heritage. I should have known to trust this channel to expand my knowledge. :-) ETA: For example, I had no idea Charles II had been crowned at Scone first and had a second unnecessary coronation later!
@hannahk1306
Жыл бұрын
Personally, I think the 2nd coronation was symbolic: the monarchy is back in charge of England and the republic is over. Whilst he was technically already King of England, the official coronation at Westminster would have sent a clear message to the people as well as providing a chance to celebrate for his fans.
@beth12svist

@@hannahk1306 "Unnecessary" is, of course, a bit of a tongue-in-cheek shorthand lifted from the way the video presents it. :-) I can understand it being deeply symbolic as well as a bit of a power move after everything.

They know they’d be on shaky ground holding a coronation in Scotland. It would only emphasise how weird and alien the Windsors are. And no, the Queen Mum wasn’t “Scottish” just because she was the one individual from many generations of Home Counties families who was born in the holiday home her Londoner dad had recently inherited from his Hertfordshire dad. She was raised like her ancestors of many generations, as she raised her own children, in the society and culture and locations of London and the home Counties.
Bruce, this was among the most thoughtful and eloquent of your "stories". I wait in anticipation for the next.

How slowly turns the world……….. and how quickly we forget our history…….. Great episode as ever Thank you
