Julie Crandall there was a full length documentary about this debacle a few years back maybe 2012? We saw it at the traverse city film festival. Growing up in the NYC area I pretty much viewed trump as a mildly annoying entertainer, like a gnat or a herpes blister that flares up on occasion. I found his treatment and opinions of these people utterly repulsive and I was basically enraged. Hated him passionately ever since. He’s an embarrassment beyond words.

I saw this documentary purely by chance while Obama was still President. When DT said he was going to run the first time for 2012, I started trying to tell people about it. I spent 2015 screaming about it, trying to tell people what kind of guy he is and by then I knew even more about his underhanded dealings and how much New Yorkers and Atlantic City hated him and why. I may as well have been screaming into a black hole. He turned out to be exactly the disaster that I had no doubt he'd be..... and we still can't get rid of him. As a small acreage property owner of some rural Texas Hill Country land, I have grown more concerned about a trend in the USA toward using Eminent Domain in a way unintended by The Founders. ie: for a public purpose like a road, a dam or Fort.Instead, big developers want to go to local authorities like a couple of cases in Rock Port, Texas, Ohio or Mass. & ask officials to condemn a person's business or residence, so the business tycoon can turn it into a shopping mall, high rise condos or a resort & generate much more tax revenue for local govt than a handful of private property owners. Some state legislatures like Texas & others have passed laws to prevent this kind of abuse of Eminent Domain. God Bless you Mr. Forbes & your neighbors.

"You've Been Trumped" by Anthony Baxter is an excellent full length documentary on the same. Trosh's here is also well done, - and he's got many more. Just for arguments sake, being (generously) fair, this ruthless bullying may well be 'par for the course' in all real estate development. It's been happening for decades where I come from and I imagine it happens everywhere else, and there's nothing fair or human about it, especially when times are tough and our city planning councils and commissions are easily 'charmed'. Trump's a first class phony, for sure. Not to be trite, but for the sake of a different sort of criticism, isn't Scotland the birthplace of 'gof', where the great courses have been carved out by time, weather, landscape, and humility, - NOT the other way round? Trump promising to build "one of the greatest courses of the world" in Scotland with this result seems awful irony, a terrible idea, and yet further proof of his vainglory, (not to mention lack of taste, pathological lying, and constant need for projects -probably to pay off his debts). Watching the documentary of this monumental meglomaniac's most recent land grab was like watching the last gasp of the natural world, the rape of one of the world's last truly pristine regions on earth. Worse still was his personal attack on one of the holdouts to his paving over of these pristine sand dunes near Aberdeen, Scotland with his most recent Vegas-like resort. He called the old farmer's property, "a pig's sty." "Who would want to look at this man's farm?" he squealed. I could only think, "Who would want to see this beautiful land paved over with the concrete and steel abomination of one Donald Trump? Watching the Son of Satan's loud-mouthed offspring mirror his greedy father's lies and deceptions was even more sickening. Fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. I could only recall the movie that chillingly foretold this exact scenario, a 1983 independent film called, "Local Hero," that pictured a remarkably similar, greedy land developer trying to take over the same land, only to be stopped by one local resident who refused to give in to corporate money. In the movie, the little guy won. But in the harsh light of modern day reality, unfortunately the message of this film was lost in the morass of greedy Scottish politicians and American corporate interests. I only wonder how long it will take the local folks who work at his latest "wonder of the Western world" to tire of cleaning hotel rooms and pouring cocktails for it's wealthy American tourists, only so spend their paltry salaries on casinos, alcohol, strip clubs, and illicit drugs as what happened in the Hawaiian Islands, also a pristine tropical paradise, only to be buried in American cement. The golf course is done, completed and built, there is an entire documentary on it, called You've Been Trumped, and a sequel which I can't remember The name of. But, the course was a total failure. It is not open anymore, I believe it shut down a year after it opened. Brought no jobs to the area as Trump used Irish labour. So, not a good outcome for anyone.

I think a repeat of what happened to Nigel Farage in Edinburgh should happen to trump, constantly, 24/7 while he's in our country. Its very simple, once the golf course is up and running, we need to exercise our right to roam, yes, all over the golf course. Nothing upsets a golfer more than having the public wandering across fairways and getting in the way. How do I know, I am a golfer, and I would not support this development. The locals need to make the SNP govt and local council pay at the ballot box for this incredible mistake. I hope they were well paid for this bad decision.

I remember either watching this or a similar documentary about this in secondary school about a decade ago now. It’s the first time in my life I felt truly furious about social/political issues, to the point my teacher had to pull me aside after class and checked to see if I was okay. I’ve started reading a Scottish horror novel called The Haar and the setting is a direct parallel to this incident. The book has since resparked that hatred I felt for Trump all those years ago. I still can’t believe he was able to do this and that it seams like everyone forgot about it. A well and truly evil man.

He built the golf course, used large sand berms to ensure people didn't see the homes, I don't think anyone was evicted. But the golf course was a huge failure, nobody went there and Trump became angry and decided he wanted to build a golf course in Ireland. Troshy, this is a fantastic little documentary. Just gearing up to watch 'You've Been Trumped', but this gave a great insight into a community and their horrific battle. Your interview technique is fantastic, allowing the subject to talk without bombarding them with questions. The only comment on Trump being a liar is that he states he gave many jobs to local people, yet the security guard seems to be Irish. Yet another lie, unless of course that man lived there, but it is doubtful.
