Michael Hamblin PhD has done podcasts, so he should be willing to come on MH and provide latest scientific insights on photo biomodulation as relates to health. One question I have is whether sun exposure in very light clothing and when it low in sky and UV is minimized is a good way to get enough red/NIR light to benefit skin/brain. Sun puts out a huge amount of red and infrared.

Absolutely! There are two incredible YT videos you should watch on the topic of sunlight and how healing it is. Light as Medicine by Roger Seheult, MD on MedCram channel is one, and Using Light to Optimize Health by Dr. Andrew Huberman on Huberman Lab is another one. Fascinating stuff that has changed my life. I try and get out for sunrise and the magic of sunset as much as possible.

Hi Peter, thanks for the suggestion, it would be interesting to talk with Dr Hamblin. It is a good question about the sun as a source of red light. Maybe something to ask Dr Hamblin.

@@pkstiever Thanks for suggestions. I'll certainly watch them. I get a dose of light during my walk and some through the day getting in my 5 to 6 miles. Trying to avoid gadgets and too many supplements. And don't generally consider sellers of products to be good sources of information.

Richard: This is very interesing I am convinced that Red Light and IR light therapy can be very useful. And they are available, safe, and readily available at very reasonable prices. If there is another interview, can you please ask the following questions, if time allows? a) Regarding Dosage: How can it be defined, and what would be the appropriate level? (units of light, and time of exposure) b) How often should the treatment be done? c) For IR treatment: There are some blankets that are supposed to produce IR radiation. Are they effective? / What is the advised time of exposure, and how often should we do the treatment? d) Some heating devices are using IR radiation. Since they are extensively used: Would that be a substitute for IR treatment? Or would they be unhealthy due to extensive dosaging?

Richard, a very interesting video. As to some naysayers on your blog be aware that useful information can come from anywhere. Stop prejudgement. As long as there is transparency, listen to everybody and do your own research. Stop being lazy.

I dunno, some of the stuff this guy is claiming is a bit farfetched. Like "instant" pain relief, or wounds healing overnight. I'm a believer in NIR therapy, and I use it daily, but I use it more on faith that the science is onto something. I sure can't say I've ever noticed any immediate effects when it comes to pain relief, healing, or appearance.

  • @pkstiever

It’s not really far fetched. I have the same type instant relief when I use dry sauna. My skin for the first time in my life of rashes and eczema is soft and clear. I recently bought a small red light and I can tell that it works very well too. Red light will not be as obvious if you are under 40, so he is so right about how much more it helps the older ones of us to see a big amazing difference and feel the skin get energized. I cam also do so much more exercise without getting fatigued as quickly when I use y panel. Mine was less than sixty dollars on Amazon. It has all the energy requirements that the expensive name brands have.

Richard, I love your videos; they’re always excellent. But please keep the focus on scientists who have relevant knowledge and demonstrated experience and stay away from salespeople who seemingly have only a mercenary interest. This guy is not credible and should probably stick to carpentry. He has nothing noteworthy to offer.
