Amen! Some of the many benefits of fasting on the immune system, blood pressure, blood sugar and anti-aging, all backed up by clinical data: Thymus stem cells are regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system. Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria and viruses by the immune system. Blood pressure is quickly and dramatically lowered, which is very important for a good outcome with the current pandemic. Fasting increases nitric oxide, which has manifold postive effects like reducing arterial plaque. Weight loss from fasting only loses10% lean tissue and 90% fat compared to the typical 25% lean tissue and 75% fat lost when calorically restricting for long periods. Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Vitamin D plasma levels are increased, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy! Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus. It's absolutely fine for cortisol to be high while fasting, because it produces sugar from fat instead of lean tissue kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZ15psOdqtKrotY.html The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again! When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state. It stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses. Does fasting burn muscle? In most cases no! kzread.info/dash/bejne/ppmFq8OOZtrWYtI.html Fasting can make you gain muscle faster: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z4aBmqmLqtaveco.html Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more. It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention! Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate! kzread.info/dash/bejne/dJl3wcmCgpXAYZc.html Your body releases interferon which is also triggered by the body during viral attacks to shut down the replication ability of the surrounding cells and stop infections. After 72 hours or more fasted, your body actually recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire system. When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging. Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers. In fact, the biochemical precursor to BDNF is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting. Autophagy induced by fasting even helps hair regrow. What breaks a fast? kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZWGrtV8oNvfY9I.html Dieters losing weight through intermittent fasting show greater reduction in waist size and increase in insulin sensitivity for the same weight lost and alternate day fasters were shown to lose fat while gaining muscle at the same time over a six month period. Fasting has been shown to increase bone marrow volume by 10% and levels of carnosine in the body in as little as a few weeks. Fasts of several days will not affect short term female fertility and may increase long term fertility especially in women with PCOS. Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level. Eating one meal a day can bring most of these benefits to a lesser degree, and adding a few entire days off from eating per week will have even more effect especially when starting to feel poorly. Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia. Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice. My blood sugar too high, joints paint, sleep apnea got too bad . First, I found Dr Robert Lustig on youtube talking about sugar. I started keto diet, intermittent fasting when I saw Dr. Jason Fung talking about type 2 diabetes and metabolic symptoms. It is all about SUGAR that is killing us. BUT sometime I eat too much carb, too much sugar intake diet and It made me feeling sick very badly. You got to remove SUGAR out of your life. there was enough time you got it in your body and it has been destroyed your body parts. Just remove SUGAR/ CARB as much as you can, your life WILL GET BETTER. Every thing you eat now got some degree of sugar/carb in there. NO SUGAR food, no processed food any more. whole food, fresh home cook is good. If not you will take MED and SUFFER all problem that SUGAR cause in the video.

I only really started seeing Doctors on a regular basis in my early 40's,... I was, by their charts, Obese & I had 4 of the 5 signs of Metabolic Syndrome & the 5th, Insulin Resistance, was only really discovered a decade later when I pushed for a Fasting INSULIN test. At 50 I ended up in The ER with Congestive Heart Failure & an Ejection Fraction rate of just 20% & was close to death. I really wish the Doctors in my early 40's actually talked to me about more than Calories & wanting to feed me blood pressure pills but I really doubt that they had any more knowledge than that standard protocol. If they did an Insulin test & really informed me of the dangers T2 Diabetes & the carbs that cause it then I would have listened & taken action,... If someone like Jason Fung sat me down at age 40 & told me where I was headed, my life would be very different.

I got the same thing, people dont believe me when i tell them i actually doont eat that much when counting calories, but still im fat, however my meals consisted mainly of snacking just a little bit every two hours or so, so any real meal i will pretty much eat only a little because im snacking so often, and if i dont snack my mood and energy levels goes like a roller coaster up and down, Keto i have never been able to hold for more than a month, althouh i always lose 10kg in a month when i've done them, but my savior is time restricting eating, i do 2 hours eating timeframe, i could probably extend it and still benefit, but i have 25k more to lose, so once i reach that i will extend it to 4 hours, anyway, i can tell you this is the only way except for keto that i lose weight, nothing else has worked, and the weight is just one thing, the other is the energy, the lowered bloodpressure, the lowered sugar levels, the best thing is, it's not hard to do, i can do time restricting eating forever, its not like Keto where you feel like you are missing out on cake on birthdays and whatnot, i just wish i knew about this 10 years earlier.

They're unaware of the scientific knowledge available by Drs like Dr. Jason Fung who share scientific content so expertly broken down for people like us, who are interested in the science and are able to absorb it. Most you tubers suffering from obesity related diabetes, will not even begin to understand this. I have bought The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung. It is an awesome book to read and possess.

Instead of treating the root cause, your primary care doc will tell you eat more small meals (wrong) and take some pills (wrong). The older I get, the more I understand that while traditional medicine can be beneficial, it largely doesn't have any idea what it is doing. It generally treats symptoms rather than causes, and doesn't even treat symptoms very well.

From your channel, I learned that as human beings what we should and what to avoid, how much and when to eat. I never had a good health in the past 25 years as I have it now. I cured my pre diabetes with the help of this channel and don’t call myself as a diabetic patient anymore. Life is very easy and enjoyable now.

Thank you for the very detailed information on this, i have this metabolic syndrome, what works for me is one meal a day. I can literally feel how my metabolic syndrome just goes away, i have much much more energy, the energy doesnt go up and down it stays up all day, bloodpressure is down from being high, bloodsugar is down from prediabetic levels to normal, i guess some people are blessed with metabolism that can handle eating several times a day and lots of carbs without issues, i was not lucky enough to get that. And no matter how long you do OMAD, if you quit it, metabolic syndrome will come back.

From what I’ve encountered, too much dietary fat is what blocks the sugar from entering the cell as quickly as it should, which is why you end up with too much insulin. And from my experience, I’d say it’s most likely accurate. I can feel the energy dips when I change over to a low fat high carb mostly fruit diet, but over time the fat seems to clear out and energy dips don’t happen. Energy dips are caused by sugar spikes and overproduction of insulin causing a blood sugar crash.

Excellent mechanistic explanation of Metab. Synd. You made a small mistake in listing IR as a symptom of Metab Synd, when the text book definition have high fasting glucose. IR is a different name for Meta Synd (according to Benjamin Bikman).

So Doc, what if HDL 43 and Tri's are low 56 and LDL is just over 112? I don't consume sugar and keep carbs about 20 or under. Been keto and IF since September. Down 60+ no more meds! But BG still in 120-180 depending on time of day. Why? Blood pressure 128 78. Is it because a lot of stored fat still? Currently 218 and goal is 180. Diet: 900 to 1200 calories, meat 4 to 8 oz a day along with green veggies and berries once in awhile. Been doing 4 hour eating window lately, and been putting weight on, but going to one meal a day. I have been exercising regularly and lifting 2 to 3 times a week. Thanks sir!
