The Science of Genetic Modification

From fluorescent mice, malaria-proof mosquitoes, gene drives, and CRISPR, GMOs are changing the world around us in amazing ways. In this video, I explain how scientists transfer traits between organisms, highlighting how CRISPR is making it easier than ever to modify genes.

Note: At 2:56, I incorrectly stated that Cas9 was responsible for storing foreign DNA, but that is the job of the Cas1 and Cas2 proteins: goo.gl/TlFQfN. However, Cas9 is indeed responsible for cutting the foreign DNA.

This is going to win because of all the visual effects.

Well, thanks for the optimism, but last year there were many finalist videos, and only a few of them had visual effects. I think content eclipses sparkle in this challenge. Still, I'm hoping for the best! Cool video you have, by the way.
