I feel like this adaptation would have been much better as a series rather than a film. I enjoyed the cinematography and actors, but the script felt rushed and important character development didn’t happen… I didn’t feel too excited or invested at any point which is sad as I love the books. That being said I did enjoy it overall and I’d definitely love another one ❤

Omg i thought I was the only one- As a reader of the books, from a young age and i have reread them, there were a lot of details that weren't in it that I was SO DISAPPOINTED about. I was also like why do the moods change so quickly, its so rushed, I feel like they could've done this anime style 20 mins an ep or maybe even kdrama style an hour each🤧🤧🤧 I forgot to add their ACTUAL MAGIC LESSONS where they studied spells and such, I was SO looking forward to that😭😭

And they only briefly mentioned seers in general...and I thought it was Sader...did the audiobooks accidentally make me hear it incorrectly?! Anyway, that will be interesting to see what the director chooses. And how Sofia Ann plays "Filip". I HOPE ALL OF THE BOOKS ARE MADE INTO MOVIES!!! Or at least the first 3 so the first major story arc is complete. They also couldn't get Pollux and Castor in the cast. It would have been utterly ridiculous to have to figure out how to fake a dog head on a goat/whatever carcass' body.

It just seems like a lot to squeeze into the second movie along with everything else. It’s not “too complicated” of a concept no need to be rude.

At The End of S.G.E Movie, we see Tedros calling back Agatha and Tedros' Arrow hitting the tree but not many people notice that the dagger that flew after was actually Rafal's.

I watched the movie before I read the book and wow I knew as an adaptation they'd have to change things and cut a lot out but I was really surprised by how much they left out, and yet still managed to follow the key points of the story (most anyway. I think Sophie killing the Beast def should have been included). One thing they changed that I thought was significantly improved is that Rafal doesn't show up in the book AT ALL until the very last 30 minutes (audiobook was over 14 hours so that says a lot). The Schoolmaster is met one time, and talked about many times, but you barely get any info about him whatsoever in the book, and so him coming out as evil and Sophie's 'true love' at the second to last chapter was way out of left field. I liked that the movie brought him into things as Rafal (whose name they never even tell you in book 1) much sooner so he can be seducing Sophie from much earlier on.

Give us more time with Lady Lesso, please…… 🙏🏻🥺

I’m curious whether they will keep the schools the same, they will change a few of the things in the schools or they will completely change the schools totally. Same with the uniforms, and also look forward to how they will change the movie since the first movie is almost completely different from the book, the movie basically cuts most of the scenes in the book and added a few different scenes. Looking forward to the second one.

The movie is a bare skeleton of the full and rich first book. They altered the whole base of the first book, removed huge scenes and even removed whole characters.

AGREED. I felt pretty disappointed with the movie which made me feel bad because I knew how much Chainani loved it, but the only scene I thought was even close to the book was the evil vs good fight scene near the end. There were so many important things they left out that could have been used to get the lesson across easier than how they did it.

I wish this was a series instead. I love the imagery and how the characters' looks and settings

Fun fact, the woman who plays Sophie played Lydia Deets in Beetlejuice Musical when it first came to Broadway.

Am I the only one that feel sad when Sophie reveals Lady Lesso's real name in the first movie? Cus for me Her real name is something special. SPOILER!!!! In the book Lesso tells Sophie her real name when she's dying. Cus she believes in Sophie. Like the scene is full of trust 😭 n if im not mistaken only Clarissa know lesso real name too. And she really close with Clarissa. Lesso is a close person. Telling her story to someone mean she trust tht person soo much. But the movie ruined those scene😭😭

As an AVID fan of the books, there are obviously things I wish weren’t changed, but overall, if you think of The School for Good and Evil solely as a movie on it’s own, it’s not bad.

If ever all of the books will have movie version, those will probably be my future child's "Harry Potter" lol. I know Harry Potter series is on complete different league, I just hope they won't make SGE seem rushed again.

You see when I first saw this as an option on my Netflix recommended I had originally thought it was a TV show and not a movie. I honestly think that they could’ve dived into so much more of the storyline if it was a TV show because as cool as the movie was, I feel like it was a bit rushed.

i've read the books and the movie is VERY different from them indeed! however as a stand alone piece without thinking of the novels i really think they did a great job artistically in terms of direction, building the plot and the movie was aesthetically pleasing with some really good performances and potential. i really want to see a sequel to see them build into the world more and add more stuff from the books definitely. really hoping they pick up a second movie because it would really be nice to see more of this world on the big screen. fingers crossed they pick it up again. 🥺🤞🏻

This... whatever you call it was so painful to watch in all the wrong ways, but it's so in brand on what to expect to get a second chance in Netflix because a dumpster is never full of garbage.

In my personal opinion as someone who has read the books, they butchered the first movie. Truthfully I’m not very excited for a second one but I do want to see how they take the second book. If there is a second movie I will most probably watch but in the end I’ll probably just end up making fun of it 😂

Hahaha...no. It doesn't. Which was infuriating because they literally kiss on the lips in the book and yet "oh my gosh we're such best friends!!" like bro. Most people don't share mouth kisses with their friends. (this is from the perspective of me reading only books 1 and 2 so far)

none of that will happen! This post comments on all the facts of the second book, but the first movie erased all the mystery plot and significant moments from book #1. If there was the crazy idea of ​​making the second movie, it would be anything but similar to book #2. I love the movie soo much I Bought the books... But now that I'm on the third book of the series i feel a little disappointed in the movie. soo much that happened didn't even happen before the second or third book. So my feelings for the movie is mixed now. I do hope there will be a second movie because It was very beautiful but i hope they do make it right. It could be a hit or miss. I really hope they do all six movies and continue through the Camelot years. The only bad thing I didn't like in the second book is how tedros fell for Sophie even as a boy...so I'm secretly hoping they'll change that 😣 but I also know it's important to stay similar to the books. The only complaint I would have about this movie is how tedros and Agatha only had like four or five interactions and they were suddenly in love, but I also understand that you can only fit so much into a two and a half hour movie. I would have also liked to see more of tedros falling for Agatha because we definitely saw her fall for him, but didn't see much of his side. Either way, this was a fantastic movie and I cannot wait for the second one.

Ngl you know a movie is gonna be bad or boring when they put all the most interesting scenes in the trailer.. Cuz the movie creators themselves know that none of the other scenes will draw people in so they use the only good scenes to draw us in and in the end we feel disappointed at the end result, it's happened with a lot of previous movies so let's just hope if a second good and evil comes out it's not as bad as the first.

I absolutely adored the movie especially the cinematography, the actor’s, costumes, sets, special effects ect. Though it also would have been great as a series! Honestly didn’t know if we’d hear anything about a 2nd movie so I’m siked!🙌💖🎥

This movie is in no way similar to the source material!! The school master plotline is completely different and agatha wasn't done right. I love Sofia but she is not agatha at all. Agatha was scrawny pale and was viewed as ugly, while Sofia has always been attractive. They didn't include so many meaningful plot lines and even Sophie had the little charater growth taken away from her. I could get behind this movie if their was no book behind it but the fact that their is a book and they still made the story that messy and unmeaningful is unacceptable. I don't even want to begin on the blood magic plot line, it is not in the books and was a terrible addition to the movie.

It always annoyed me that we never found out Rafal wasn't his real name,reading the prequel books,The Rise of the School for Good and Evil and The Fall of the School for Good and Evil we find out that Rhian the "good" brother kills Rafal the "evil" brother with the Storian when it appears Rafal was the 1 true school master. This isn't revealed at all in the 6 books and isn't really important but Rafal is 1 of my favourite characters so him being remembered as a really evil person who wants to destroy Good and brkng cack past villians by the other characters makes me slightly disappointed Edit: even if it isn't his real name the reveal in The Last Ever After (book 3/end of original trilogy) always felt like a big reveal and meant something,this takes away from it that we find out in the very 1st movie

If u read the book - this film is kinda sad and confusing. Many good characters and plot lines are just gone
