Lewis Miley would be another good young English player to do a video on. He's a year younger than Mainoo and already has a goal and 4 (I think) assists for Newcastle United. He initially got more play time due to injuries but now starts every match and is often one of the best players on the pitch.

This afternoon against Luton Mainoo was the most composed and committed player on the pitch. There were 2 or 3 occasions when I just shook my head on awe at what he did. He will, I believe become World Class, but he's not the next Paul Scholes, he's the first Kobbie Mainoo. They are, apart from both being midfielders and for the moment at least, 2 quite different types of player.

My brother this is such a good video essay that you've made. We don't want to put too much pressure on him but lets be honest. We haven't seen a talent like him in midfield for a very long time. I can actually say with confidence that I believe we have the best teenage centre midfielder in the world. If he was at Dortmund or a team where they focus on developing young talent to move on, he would be playing for Real Madrid in the future alongside Bellingham, Camavinga and Touchenmeni. We just have to get the right manager and players around him that can enable him to reach his potential. We don't want to exhaust him. I am confident that he will be one of the best midfileders we have seen in the premiership if he reaches his full potential. He will be alongside the Viera's, Yaya Toure's, Gerrard's and De Bryune's. He has everything and has demonstrated everything you need in terms of qualities at this young age consistently. He will need winners around him and the right manager and players. We didn't play well against Luton and won however, for our manager to say we did play well tells me one thing. He is not the right man to lead the club and we need to get the right person in so that we can ensure the development of young Gems like Mainoo and Gnancho.

Kobbie Mainoo could become one of the best players that we have ever seen in the Premier League in a few years if he could keep up what he is doing. No offence to Manchester United but a squad who can pass the ball around the park like a tiki taka would be perfect for him and would benefit him. If I was Ten Hag I would be trying to build a squad around the midfield area as this would definitely improve the results on match days and would also benefit the whole squad. It is amazing how such a talent could be this young. This kid could be running rings around class teams like Barca effortlessly in 2-3 years if Ten Hag continues to play him. Well done Kobbie 👏

Damn right everything you said about koobi mainoo is bang on,, imagine the pressure on his shoulders coming on that pitch at old Trafford in front of all them fans, it didn’t faze him at all, my guys got ice running through his veins, he’s left a lot of people speechless and he’s made a few of these so called pundits eat their words, this is what Manchester United need, these young players that have come up through the ranks are unbelievable, they play for the club their honoured to be playing for man united, they’ve got a lot to prove, look at the difference with the young lads running rampant, nobody can keep up, I’ve been watching the under 21’s and the under 18’s and we’ve definitely got some absolute class coming up like Danial Gore, him and koobi in midfield could be very tight, yo and these young players know each other inside out, they wouldn’t even need to look up to see where there passing the ball cos they’d know who’d be running to get on the end of it and with shaw being injured so much we’ve got Marc Jurado,, very fast and strong also with the like of Shea Lacey and Charlie McNeil things could very well be on the up, we don’t need these players that are on stupid amounts of money a week that think they are bigger than the club cos there not bothered in the slightest cos win lose or draw or ever ringing up pulling a sickie their still getting that humongous pay at the end of the week, start playing these that care about that badge on the shirt they wear, Manchester United till I die…

He first mastered close quarter combat playing futsal/indoor area footy, then Man United threw him in a champion fitness routine so he can play in the EPL. I am noticing this as a new trend or style of play, so to speak.

I think the fact at his current level he is easily out most composed, consistent player says alot. His decision making and football iq is years ahead of where it should be for a young player. And I've noticed he isn't trying to do it all at once it's like he is adding bits to his game piece by piece ensuring he is doing each part properly before adding another piece. I think providing he doesn't get a career defining injury he is world class potential for sure

Good video. I agree with your assessment at the end, you mentioned all his attributes except one…. The one ability that will make him world class and without it, a player wouldn’t get there……..Awareness, his ability to scan the positional play of his own teammates and opposition is scary. What’s even more frightening is he is more athletic than Scholes yet I believe his awareness is/will be just as high. They called Scholes “SatNav” I’m calling Mainoo “GoogleEarth”. He sees absolutely everything, mix that with hard work and he will be Elite

There's one trait that great midfielders have over merely good ones. They know what their options are before they receive the ball. A good player will get the ball, look up and then make a decision on a pass/run etc. This split second "gather/look up/assess" reaction allows opponents to close space and reduce the options. The great players know the field of play and their options before and as they are receiving the ball. This appears to give them more "time on the ball". Scholes, Xavi, Messi and being joined by Bellingham. Just watch Mainoo before he gets the ball. He is in this group with this skill. Temperament, injuries and outside distractions are the only things stopping him from joining the great names.

Why do people have to keep comparing our talents to previous, or even current players? Not only does it put massive pressure on them, but it takes away from their uniqueness. Garnacho isn’t the new Ronaldo, he’s Garnacho. Mainoo isn’t the new Scholes/Pogba, he’s Mainoo. Hojlund isn’t our Haaland, he’s Hojlund. They’re all extremely talented players in their own rights, and they should only be compared to themselves, no one else. Let them make their own names for themselves.

5:14 "on the pitch it looks like he's got infinite stanima." I'm not a pedantic person, in fact I'm usually quite the opposite, but for some reason, when he said that it really made me laugh, so I thought I'd share it with the class.
