Balde was my favorite player in 22/23 he was so exciting to watch, but this season he was straight up bad ngl, i hope he gets his form back under Flick.

He wasn`t as bad as Cancelo, Balde was critised for being unable to cross but to be fair the whole team was straight up garbage. If you saw the last few games, especially the Girona, El Clasico and the PSG match you`d understand why I singled out Cancelo and the fact that he was the Balde replacement. I think Felix and Balde were unfairly critised this season. But then again that`s just one man`s opinion.

@@thatGuyFean When u are playing cancelo, it's based on the assumption that he is not gonna offer much help defensive duty as a fullback or even wingback. So that means u play with three cb(arajuo, kounde, cubarsi). So question is not, if cancelo is good or bad. question is does this team need cancelo or not. Coming to balde he was downright bad this particular season. I hope balde get back his form. Also kounde was really good and very underrated as Rb + cb

He will. Flick will use him to underlap instead of overlap by getting a proper touchline winger like Nico. This will allow Balde to attack the inside space in transition and then have the option to dish it wide in the final 3rd to lamine or Nico.

Balde wasn't playing as well because joao cancelo was playing too far up/in the midfield leaving him to have to defend so there aren't just 2 defenders

Exactly what I was thinking, Balde was playing badly not just because his formed had dropped but also because of the new system. In the previous system with B.A.C.K, Balde could push forward freely without worrying too much about defending because Kounde Araujo and Christensen were going to form a back three and cover for him. But with Cancelo, we lost that defensive solidity at the back, making Balde lose confidence when going forward.

Nah he was actually bad. Let’s not forget that even when he got the chance to get forward and create, his crosses/delivery were horrendous this year.

Exactly go back and watch him in preseason and at the beginning of the year before cancelo arrived. He was so good.

Balde was surely missed last season I honestly forgot he even played cause it felt like he was injured whole season and as much as I sure we're going to enjoy euros and copa I can't wait for the new season to start New coach Hopefully new players Can't wait to play in our stadium again Then you have the young players again and to see whose next if any new la masia players emerge next season

we also need to STOP looking at balde as an attacking fullback we have hector fort who can invert and do all that balde is one of the best defensive fullbacks like when was the last time you saw this guy get pocketed? let him play to his strengths black and fast fullback ≠ davies

Balde is a good attacking fullback who underlaps the wingers in transiton. This is counter to what Xavi wanted him to do which is overlap. Think his best runs last year wgere he drop through the middle of the field and then dished it wide to the attackers in the final 3rd to score. This is what Flick will have him do becauss unlick Xavi flick likes touchline wingers. I also see flick wanting Balde to underlap a Nico W on the left and trying to get a Frimpong to overlap Lamine on the right. Since lamine cuts in having an overlaping attacking fullback on the right is smart. Alos Balde and Frimpong have the super speed to win the ball back in defensive transition without getting caught in 1v1 duels. This allows flick to play his high line.

It ain't that scary, my guy. A great player who hopefully progresses to prime Davies level. But how Davies annihilated Barca that season was 50% him/hansi and 50% how bad barca was. Scary is a superlative.

The reason balde didn't play much under koeman was because he was injured for like half of the whole season.

Every Barcelona player is overrated lol.

Balde is never going to reach the levels of Davies, he isn't as naturally talented on the ball, he doesn't have the same vision Davies has, He is way slower than Davies, He isn't as strong, he isn't as good 1 on 1 and he isn't as strong nor does he have the same gas tank or the same defending iq and these are things that Balde will never learn Davies is one of a kind no manager can replicate him even if Balde is a similar profile

Comparing them is what's bad. U can't teach certain things you either have it or u don't and davies has it whilst balde doesn't

Balde is a great defensive fullback but, not attacking fullback like Davies (still can be improve). You just hating on the kid. He just had his first season in the first team. Barca is NOT madrid, we develop players NOT just buying finished product.

Davies is so good he got benched by guerreiro 🤦‍♂️ balde is similar though, all offense and no defense. His unwillingness to play it will see him gone unless he fixes it
