"Bones heal, pain is temporary, and chicks dig scars". I've got a scar on my knee, not a huge one probably smaller than yours but it still upset me for a while, now I like to look at it as a reminder that I was stronger than what tried to hurt me. Good to see your wrists recovering well :)

Glad the healing is coming along nicely. The scar is a bit large but will most likely heal to almost nothing but hey, if not, you can tell people it's a battle wound! Thank you for the update and wishing you all the best!

Hi Brinn, I'm sorry to hear your disappointment about your scar. I hope that, as it heals, it will get smaller and become less noticeable! Once you're back on the training grand, your hands will covered in calluses and chalk all day anyways! Blessings for a quick recovery, hope all is well and that you are still happy and healthy :) Finished my first week of grad school classes and sent my brother off to his new military posting this week. Cheers to you, I hope this week is a good one for you!

Have had a similar thing done 8 months ago. Surgeons often need to go zig-zag with their incisions in this part of the hand to be able to avoid all the highly sensitive nerves, fine blood vessels and ligaments before having to do their surgery. The hand is the most complicated orthopedic part of a human body!!! So don't worry about your scar too much, be happy you can move your hand without ANY trouble. The scar will heal easily. If you wanna know what it will look like in about 2 weeks, 4 weeks and after months - I have made pictures of my scar and could send them to you. Just don't have your e-mail-address (am not on FB). All the best and take your time, Andrea

Brinn, I have a friend who was broadsided by an 18 wheel truck and broke both his legs. He had substantial orthopedic surgery on both legs where they inserted rods into both femurs . Like you he had a perfect athletic body. The scars, post surgery looked very much like the one on your hand. He was very upset, so I went out on a limb and told him they would heal to white lines. That is exactly what happened and they are hardly visible. Just pay close attention to what the doctors say and don't push yourself when you start back. It is all going to be good. Take care!

Happy to see you are healing quickly! First Off: Scars are badass. Wear them proudly! Secondly, don't compare your scar to others. Your anatomy is different, than say Ashley's. Also, different surgeons have different techniques. They may have needed to expose a larger area to view nerves, control bleeding or remove surrounding scar tissue created internally by the deformity. Third, as a medical professional here in the states, I can tell you that, with time, the scar will fade. It will go from a deep red to a rosey pink, then finally a pale, slightly lighter color than your natural skin tone. Take pictures every few months and watch the change for yourself. It will take a few years to match your skintone, but since you use your hands so often in your line of work, it may take less time due to the vascularity in your hands. Keep anticeptic ointment (bacitracin) on it and keep the skin moisturized until the scar has completely solidified. If the scar tissue becomes dry it can become brittle, itchy and crack. Your doc will tell you the same thing, but often times people don't tell their doctors they are unhappy with the size of the scar so this topic is never addressed. Keep healing up strong! All the best. -Josh (CRNA)

Your scar looks pretty good. Edges are lined up well. I had a wound on my finger that was stitched up by a med student who obviously didn't get top marks in school but it turned out alright. The edges were SO ragged, but mine wasn't a scalpel incision. Yours looks good though.

I've had a huge scar my whole life you eventually become a lot less self conscious of it as it fades, it won't look half as bad in a few months!

The scar is a bit large but if you keep with the massage it would be smaller with the time. It's a story to tell! I just hope there's no pain😄

The tattoo on your back is symbolic to the wound on your hand. God/Jesus redeemed us, and He had the scar in His hand to show that sacrifice.✝🙏
