Zuma: Jacob Zuma has survived allegations of serious criminality. In the lead up to 2009, when this report was produced, allegations - spanning rape, bribery, corruption - threatened to spell the end of Zuma. Only today have the charges come to a head.

The charges against Zuma have repeatedly been dropped, and many of his supporters are sceptical of the allegations: 'we know all these things are happening as a conspiracy so that Zuma can never be the president'. Yet others have campaigned for the allegations to be taken seriously. 'Leaders are behaving is as if they are above the law', remarks campaigner Patricia de Lille.
