Magical toy, I still play with mine. My mate Mark had an old catalogue from the late 60's that showed an unimaginable (in 1978) range of track and accessories that didnt exist at that time. My 400 set was probably my favourite ever Christmas present! Thanks mum and Dad.
Loved my Scalextric 200 set when I was a child! I remember getting it exchanged when I wrote a letter to the company highlighting some of the problems I was having with it. Developed an interest in Formula 1 after that, and playing with one at a mall in 2013 at Christmas brought back some great memories!
Yet another great video. Makes me miss the set I had in the 80's.
The Micro Scalextric series reminds me of the Aurora slot-car racing set we had. It looks like a similar scale. Ours was 'endorsed' by James Hunt, so it must have been around 1976-77. Love your vids - bringing back so many memories!
I I got my first set at 8 which was second hand with rubber track and plastic cars. I bought a digital set and extended it with cars and "feature track" but all of the Scalextric I have ever used has suffered from connection failures between track pieces and getting a temporary track to work for its full length has been a problem. I joined a slot car club and raced on a permanent clubhouse wood track and kit made cars from the US when I was 11.
Thank you for making these interesting videos! I enjoy them very much
I've lived in the Portsmouth/Havant area all my life, and currently work at New Lane in Havant where the original Mini Models factory was!
Excellent video, I still have my 200 set that I got for Christmas in 1978. Fantastic fun, even today! 👍🏻
i've still got the track including the shiny track. My first set was motorcycle combos in figure 8
You clearly put a lot of work into these and it really shows. They are really informative , thanks a lot , I've watched all of your vids
Great video. Both me and my brother still have a load of scalextric cars including one of the original 1960's front wheel drive Mini Cooper's
That was brilliant - so great to update on 'new' scalextric
My brother and I had a huge set setup in our loft. The neighbors hated us because it would interfere with TV signals causing snow on the reception.
Great work! A must if someone love The history of scalectrix! Grettings
I had a Scalextric set sometime in the mid '60s. The cars were 1/32 scale D-Type Jaguars with pins to keep them in the slots. The rubber track was crap that didn't last very long. It was too soft to keep the rails from coming loose and cars would bang to a stop when they hit an uneven join between sections of track. I remember being envious of other kids who had Strombecker sets with problem-free plastic tracks.
My brother had a Scalextric set-up in the late '70s. I always liked Scalextric best because:
Loved my Scalextric as a kid . Still got it 👌
Great work and keep on going.
I had one of the original rubber track sets with tinplate cars. 😁
Great vid 👍liked👍Greetings from Germany, Martin
