The Sartorial Style of Tenet. How to dress like a spy.

Фильм және анимация

The mind bending James Bond - esque spy-fy epic from Christopher Nolan starring Robert Pattinson, John David Washington and Michael Caine.
Thanks to Esquire magazine and other sources for their interviews with the fabulous costume designer Jeffrey Kurland, which was big help in discovering some of the details of the suits and other clothing.

This is incredibly professional and entertaining. Nolan and his wardrobe department often rival the quality and style of the threads seen in 007 films. Thank you.

Thanks. And yes I think Nolan puts a lot of work into his wardrobe. Definitely rivals Bond for quality.

I am HUGE James Bond fan. Particularly, Daniel Craig. I finally saw this film last week while it was 1 month back in theaters. Loved it! And I love that the lead is a spy, who’s a black man… without THAT being its focus. He just, is. Chefs kiss 👌🏾. Thanks for the great style analysis 😎

Thanks for your comment. Yes it is a great character and David is great as the lead. I wish they could do a Tenet 2 but that would probably be absurd.

Key advice: don't make expensive mistakes. Get the timeless basics first: either a plain navy or charcoal. Get at least two pairs of trousers with your suit to extend longevity (I normally get three). Do your best to go high-end bespoke or at least high-end made to measure (3000-8000 range). Select a "performance" high twist material for longevity from a renowned fabric producer like drapers. Don't go for an over-tailored look - just classic. In fact keep everything about the suit "middle of the road" (so it doesn't go out of style, as fashion does) - i.e. notch medium-size lapel, simple flap pockets (no ticket pocket). Do all this and you'll have a suit that you'll feel great and look great in for at least a decade.

I love the way you assume a certain intelligence in your audience. Thank you for showing me a film I ought to see. The clothes are very nice for modern. I must say I cannot abide polo shirts anywhere other than when on a horse.

The main character of the movie ''Wrath of Man'' portrayed by Jason Statham would also be nice for this type of videos, if I may suggest. Most of the time he is wearing a police outfit. But, when wearing casuals, you can see that he is very neat, clearly understands the basics of man's fashion, and wears it comfortably. Great video, i really got inspired.

Director of Dr. No, FRWL and Thunderball was Terence Young, not Stamp.

Please discuss the magnificent Mark Strong's Hani Salaam's suits in Body of Lies (starring also: DiCaprio, Crowe, by Ridley Scott, 2008). To me, the best suits ever look in a man!

It's an odd one, Bond as a film character is already pretty incredibly stretchy/stretched. In all fairness, I think the sad fact is that our culture is not quite at the point where racism wouldn't have been an issue for a black Bond in his youth. And as such the question of whether or not to address that point has to be discussed. I can certainly understand people in charge considering it a minefield... That said, I think the evidence shows Bond fans can be very forgiving of the occasional misstep! We're still watching after all these years. But you wouldn't want to offend anyone ofc- that's just bad form. I would love to hear your thoughts (or anyone else's)
