For background lore the Empire Tanya reincarnated in is an alternate universe's Germany WWI era, only with advanced weaponry and magic. The Empire became totalitarian with military advancement causing the entente alliance (France and Norway) to attack out of fear. The Republic (Britain) and Russy (Russia) joined in the invasion afterwards. Basically the Empire was playing defense but with Tanya's involvement, the Empire begins invading the invaders. The world villainizes the Empire when it was the entente alliance that struck first. It's basically how in wwi the world villainized Germany when it was an assassin that killed Germany's allies diplomat that sparked the war. No one ever blamed the assassin nor the nation he worked for. Stupid human ego.

and in WW2 those alliance did again to villainized Germany and Japan when after Poland refuse to give back some former Germany land. Then FDR pro-Stalin is embargo oil on Japan and sending US navy fleet to Pearl Harbor to provocating Japanese Navy(in order to making Japan shooting bullet first on Pearl harbor, with this FDR have excuse to join in war for supporting Stalin war and FDR war profits) well from beginning the reason why WW is happened is all because those democracy cunts and communist scums is frantically hate on monarchy stuff, both of them really just jealous and want crushing any monarchy for getting own power over former-monarchy country
