Huge mistake giving Barnes the money they did, now they have cap troubles. Barnes and Huerter have to go, but who can they get?

They had a chance to improve last off season. They created huge cap space just to extend Sabonis early and resign Barnes. They could have went after some free agents and went over the cap to resign Sabonis this off season. One of the only options to improve this off season is to offer the Hawks this years pick in exchange for freeing up the rest of their first round picks. Then mortgage the future and go all in on a trade with those picks. It’s either that or run it back with the same players and this year’s late lottery pick. Minus Monk of course. Vivek is probably one of the “poorest” owners in the league and hasn’t shown a willingness to spend.

I think we need to take a swing at the draft instead of trying to trade away picks. I feel Zach Edey or Kyle Filipowski would be a great addition along with some Keegan Murray/ Keon Ellis defensive type development.

Mike Brown is the one who said he believed they can contend for the title this year.. Sounds like he's the one who wanted to run it back. I don't think Monte wanted to because Monte said it's a "long process" to become contenders - he wasn't delusional. Also, talks between HB and Monte went silent for a couple weeks in the offseason so we know Monte was looking to upgrade. By all evidence Mike Brown seems to love this roster and overvalue the #1 offense last season, not wanting to make any changes and instead rely on internal growth

You are spot on with everything brother!!! Took the words right out of my head on this team. There is literally a grey area with this team with Fox and Sabonis only being the answers to the future while everyone is the west is getting better. And the Kings Front office thinking that Keegan is that next 3rd all star on this team when we see inconsistency from him all year. They either need to get bigger and add another all star or somehow trade for something to allow them to grow more potential on this team. The West will be even better next year. Monte can’t sit around this offseason and not make major moves like he did last offseason

Kings need to move on from Barnes and Huerter. Trade one of those guys + picks to the Magic for Jonathan Isaac. His length wil improve the defense so much. Was honestly hoping we'd get Porzingis last summer but Isaac will function just the same 🟣🔦

Add pieces with what? Can't trade future first round picks after missing the playoffs, probably get #13 in this year's weak draft Class, Barnes at 18 million a year... Maybe some teams would want Huerter but they're probably not giving up any great players for him. We'd have to trade Keegan Murray to get a great player and no one really wants to do that. Missing the playoffs might have buried this iteration of the Kings, and Mike Brown is imo most to blame for falling far short of maximizing the talent on this roster and running a predictable, redundant and ineffective offense till the very last game

Malik Monk is as good as gone. Some team will at least offer him a Bruce Brown type contract which the Kings can’t match under the CBA. I see him getting a huge contact from the pistons.

  • @bv32ification

There’s a lot of overreaction to the kings not making the playoffs. The west is extremely competitive-there was less of a gap between 1-10 in the west than there is between 1-2 in the east. The only teams the kings are never competitive with is the Celtics and pelicans. They’re still a young team learning to play both sides of the ball for all 48 minutes. Their growth defensively will pay dividends in the future. They are certainly built with players fitting traditional roles and will need to adapt and get a few tall, positionless wing players but they aren’t necessarily capped out as a sixth seed or below. Just need to resign monk, draft a forward, and look for trade opportunities to unload huerter, Barnes, and Mitchell

As a Kings fan since the 80s, fans saying, "Fire Mike Brown" holds no water unless they're going to say WHO can realistically replace them. Anyone can get upset and say fire XYZ. Who the fuck is going to replace him? Thats the part of the answer that requires intelligence. I watched the Kings beat the Nuggets 3-1 this year. I hopped on the Denver Nuggets sub to get a different perspective than that of Kings fans. Several Nugget fans commented, "Fire Malone." I disagree with that perspective. Malone is top notch and so is Denver. It goes to show that many fans (NBA fans) speak on emotions and not logic. That's not directed at Denver fans. I'm using Denver as an example because they're so good. And I 100% agree... Malik Monk is a HUGE fan favorite and will get a standing ovation if he leaves but returns. I personally believe Monk is a huge part of this team.

Jordi Fernandez if it's not too late. I know firing Brown is adding to the instability but he plays HB too many minutes, he punished Keon, Len and Sasha after they played well early in the season, and our offense is just Fox iso and Sabonis DHOs and iso, and chucking 3's. It hasn't worked for a while and it still didn't work in the very last game. Very frustrating watching this team

6th man of year - sure, he will be starter somewhere for sure and make many times more. Just to sum up, all the non-sense in the media about the offseason - if Kings cannot secure Monks services then don't expect to get anyone significant. I would suggest to make sure Sasha get integrated in the team because he is proven player and that one can be a huge if Brown want to do change in the offence which would be necessary, unless we are happy with next year 10-12 spot at the end of the season.
