@@jb26 Tech here, be aware it's like going outside after being inside a swanky apartment for your entire life. There is SO MUCH customization and freedom it can easily overwhelm anyone that is used to apple environment. There is also the IT meta (like troubleshooting), assumption of critical thinking, and at least some android-environment quirkiness that might take more than a few years to explore. On top of the insane amount of 3rd party accessory support. You can shop for wild things for android these days. At the end of the day, it CAN BE just as easy as using an apple device. The difference is the iceberg, Apple doesn't have anything below the water line, while Android seemingly does not have a bottom. You can spend years on your device and not come across all the insane customization that your stock phone is capable of. Of course there is also the connectivity. Android is literally like having a windows laptop, more so when you use Samsung Dex, which is when you plug your phone or stream your device to a display, it turns into a windows-like environment. This is the part where Apple falls apart, since Apple devices do limited things and assume you only do those things with that device, and if you wanted to do other computer things, you have to buy a different device. Not with Android. It's no different than a full size desktop computer for a lot of applications and uses. You can run emulation, load APKs and apps not from the store easily, use the on-board sensors for more than just what Google has designed them for, and you have hardware that will last A LOT longer and faster than what Apple silicon will be capable of in 10 years (apple optimization runs lite). On top of a better battery that will last longer per charge and over it's lifetime. What you will lose moving android is the hand that guides you through things like navigating settings, using the camera, the safety net of approved apps, and the limitation of clutter on your screens. As well as any support with all apple products and ecosystems, and the senselessness between them all. There are very good reasons to not switch to Android from Apple, but you have everything to gain when you make that change. Just be prepared to "play" with the device for years before you get used to it. Though that's not saying that is the experience everyone has. Some people get overwhelmed and need to change back, and some people understand it immediately and spend very little time navigating through Android. My advice is to try it out, keep an open mind with a lot of patience and curiosity, explore the device more than what you are used to. If you can't get the hang of it in a month or two, it's ok to go back. Don't listen to the tribalism, just do what you think is best for you. Everyone has different needs. Watch a lot of youtube videos that explore day-to-day use, and try to find what about your routine could change for the better by moving to a different smartphone ecosystem. Good luck!

You are right, at the same time I got 900$ as a trade in. For 7 years of updates sounds good enough to me to upgrade
first s24 ultra vid ive looked at, only s24 ultra video I require, THANK YOU lol...as youd say, you really hammered it home. I have the S22 Ultra about to be paid off finally. Im just recently getting a bit better with the expert raw cam and pro video, trying to build myself up into photography and stuff....so for me storage and camera is important. I didnt see a 1tb version of the s24 available when i was looking at upgrades, thats when i started googling to see why not, and found this video. The flat screen is a big plus for me im not a fan of the curved edges, and this s22u is kind of heavy with a case on for just laying back and browsing. I see they didnt do anything about the lenses sticking out, i really dislike that about these. I guess i will be waiting for 1tb availability for my upgrade or hold out to see what the s25u will be like. So many people upgrade to the "bets" phones and only need it to jaw-jack, text, youtube and social media, wasting their dam moneys lol....so keep pushing the practical mentality, people ned to hear this stuff.
I really enjoy your insights. I just got the S24 Ultra but i came from a regular Galaxy S10 which i got in 2019. So for me it was a big leap and i could'nt be happier. But you are absolutely right that there is no point in upgrading everytime a new phone comes out. I feel that the longevity of phones has become much greater in just a few years so there is not really a need to upgrade every year. But in the early days of Android it was more or less needed to upgrade each year since applications got more hungry for power and camera improvements made big leaps ecah and every year. So i conclude that it is a mature platform now since you can comfortably use a phone for 5 years or even more without feeling that you are constricted in any way because of limitations in the hardware and software. Cheers from Sweden!

Have you had any issues related to late notifications? I purchased an S24 Ultra and I returned it as Gmail notifications (and any other email app linked to my Gmail account) was 5-15 mins late compared with the iPhone. I don't know if this happens in all apps or just a handful of them but after 10+ years using an iPhone, late notifications is something I can't not cope with

Curious what the owners think I currently have a basic s10 so I'm thinking about upgrading primarily for a jump in display quality to help my eyes but hear many people complaining about the colours being washed out or the on board speakers being terrible any first hand experience you could offer?

Very on point review. I went from S22 Ultra to S24 Ultra
I was strongly tempted to upgrade my Pixel 7 Pro to the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra or the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus. But your video echoed a lot of my sentiments. The promise of 7 years of OS updates is really compelling. The improved cameras the performance the flat high quality oled screen wowed me. And lastly they were offering me $350 trade in credit. The reality hit me. I am still tempted but the Pixel 7 Pro is really doing a good job. The Ai features they are touting, some already came in the pixel feature drop last month. The pixel curved edges make it more comfortable to hold, the cameras still do a good job and the screen is still vibrant and high definition. Same arguments applied to reasoning not to upgrade to the pixel 8 . And lastly I don’t feel like shelling out another 1000 bucks to purchase the factually better latest and greatest. The same thinking is why I am also keeping my main phone: the IPhone 13 Pro Max. I instead bought more screen protectors and cases for the pixel 7 Pro.
Still have my S21 Ultra and just got my S24 Ultra. I rock with both of them. The battery life is excellent in both phones. The cosmetics of the S24 Ultra is untouchable. A.I., real time translator, 7 yr updates, snap pictures with the S-Pen, circle search, voice focus, etc.... Definitely an upgrade!
Excellent video as always! I appreciate your honest assessments, and that you're not trying to push a particular phone/eco system, but giving insightful things to consider/evaluate when considering a purchase or upgrade.

@@valismind Yawl need to grow it up the technology if they want to change it not up to you me are anybody. If you do not want to upgrade your phone there is always Samsung is the only one, I will use it till they give me a reason. What Tech degree did you get it from? if you're not happy I have not had not trouble there are always things and there are changes in app to make the Phone feel better. I have dropped my phone 4 times and on concrete guess what still in good condition.
Just discovered a deal on the Samsung app yesterday for the blue unlocked 512G model that has an additional $150 discount that makes it cheaper than the 256G model. Guess the blue isn't selling as well as the others. I was going to hold out and see what the Zfold6 was going to bring to the table but with all the leaks and rumors it doesn't look like that was going to have the things I wanted so I pulled the trigger on the S24 Ultra. I have been using the Zfold5 as a result of a great deal Samsung offered me when I contacted them about repairs to my S23 Ultra. It's not something I was originally interested in but it was fun using something new for a change of pace. I now have a Tab S9 to use with the S24 Ultra which I think will be better in the long run.
I just switched from the s22 ultra in the orange bc that was not red! 😂 I feel like the colors were more vivid in the 22 than the 24. However, I feel the performance and a change of color to the violet was worth the switch to get the most out of my trade-in.
I'm actually in the group that loves my Samsung, but I don't thing in coughing up a thousand plus bucks for the latest one, my S22 takes incredible photos and I'm sticking to it, maybe later on I'll change, but not as of now

I am kind of sad I upgraded from my s22 ultra. I personally think the camera on the s24 ultra is not as good as the s22 ultra. Wish I would have just kept what I had.
The question is, is it still not worth it even if you would trade in an s23 ultra making the cost around the 350-400 mark with samsung trade in/discounts?
why not get the Samsung screen protector to keep same display capability's?
I would only upgrade if you already have an older samsung, there's less of a chance that the newer one's battery will bust open. Or you could just switch to a different and better brand 🍎
Watching on my violet S24 Ultra. Really love the flat design as it looks more premium than the curved edge. I also like the anti-glare feature which is so nice to have. This is Samsung's best flagship phone so far. I am gonna keep this for the next 5 years.

Thanks again for the nice videos, am just happy i made the switch.
The S24 Ultra is a phenomenal premium device, I really dig my review unit... but one of its launch differentiators, Galaxy AI, is now hitting the past two generations of Samsung's biggest devices. That makes this device LESS necessary in order to get some of the coolest features. But yeah, I'm loving the device.
Couldn't disagree more. I've used every Note and S/Ultra model along with every top end iPhone model (just dumped my 15 Pro Max for this), and foldable phones. This is by far the best phone I've ever used. If someone has the 23 Ultra (which isnt a good assumption), then sure, maybe not worth upgrading this year. But anything before, or if you own ANY iPhone, it is worth it IMO. I can't state enough how much better the screen (flat and anit-glare) makes to the overall value and usability of the phone. I also like the 24 Plus (great phone that is very similar to the Ultra in many ways but only lighter and no s-pen), BUT it doesnt have the anit-glare screen and that makes all the difference for me.
Just use the Samsung screen protector, and you keep the anti glare perfectly in pkace. The negative reviews for this screen protector are just not correct, and mostly, user errors during installation.

In my professional opinion, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, while a capable device, may not be considered the best in its class. However, the subsequent release of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra marked a significant improvement, solidifying its position as a top-tier smartphone. Furthermore, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is anticipated to surpass its predecessor, offering even more advanced features and capabilities.
Those saying "it's just a phone" must be Apple users. I've used LG mostly, HTC, Umidigi, Motorola, Huawei, Samsung, Redmi and know each brand has its strong and weak points. My favorite UI is LG and my least favorite is Umidigi. I like using my Motorola at lot more than my Samsung and I also like using my Redmi Note 12 more than my Samsung.
What's your, or anyone's opinion on this scenario...I just ordered the S24 Ultra (512gb) direct from Samsung. They provide a trade in value for my S23 Ultra of $750. With the educational discount my cost to move to the S24 Ultra, with tax, is $456. Does this seem reasonable to jump to the S24 Ultra?
The speakers on the s24 ultra are not as good as those on the iphone 15 pro max. As for the previous Samsung devices - the night video recording on the s24 ultra is actually better than on the s23 ultra.

Then I stared at all of the Android apps such as messages. I walked over to the iPhone 15PM (which I have) and thought, wow, this is really nice too. :) I left with my "brand new" iPhone 15PM.

Now you have a bathtub in the screen to look at
I know what you mean about not having a screen protector is scary but I had to take my screen protector off as it was mucking up the fingerprint reader badly. Might get another one if I know it won't cause problems
@valismind

Have you registered your fingerprint with the screen protector? I've done mine about 2-3 times and have no issues with it at all! I use Spigen screen protectors

Yes i have registered fingerprints after applying the screen protector. Mine was an unknown brand from amazon. Maybe that's the problem
Miss the curved displays
I love my s 24 ultra
The worst part also Samsung and Pixel ohones do NOT hold their values. Hold on to your money!!
I have a difficult choice. S24 or fold 5 What do you recommend?

S24 if you live in th U.S If not the Fold 5

S24 Ultra. Had a few foldables before, still some odd choices in the UI/UX, contrary to what many people says durability is not an issue.
@WesleyWenhold

The fold 6 will come out in about 3-4 months so if you want the fold I’d wait.

I'd say s24. I feel like foldables are still not technologically mature enough when it comes to its durability. I like the foldables though and would likely switch to that formfactor for a phone few more years from now.

Regular S24? I'd go with the Fold 5, but I have a love for foldables that cannot be explained. Realistically though, anything BUT a foldable will be more practical on an everyday basis
Screen is more better S24 U but not major other wonderful things.. i own both S24 U is better but S23 U is good 2-3 years yet..
The S23 Ultra did get all the AI features that the S24 Ultra has. 🙂
Umm, GSM Arena also stated that they could not really test the full brightness capability due to inclement weather.. please be totally clear on facts..
So I am rocking the S22 Ultra, do you think an upgrade is okay now or should I wait for the 25 Ultra?
No mention of display grain?

What grain?
@derekdrummond7544

Unless somebody experiences the grain issue, they're not gonna talk about it. I don't have it on my 24U .
Got mine for under 700 and they gave me 750 credit for an S22 5g trade in No complaints
Correct on the s20 ULTRA 🎉❤
I'm upgrading from the S9+
I'm keeping my s24ultra for several years as long as it's working

I love drawing. And it's not much different.. I hate the curb edge.. New phone doesn't have curb edge..
If I'm spend a 1000+ on a phone i wouldn't upgrade for 5 years my last phone was a note 10 plus 5g just got the s24 ultra
I have an S9+ and want to upgrade, and considering a 24 ultra

@ValisMind I have an s21 ultra. After 3 years, I'm thinking of upgrading 1 last time for quite some time. Do you think the s24 ultra can last like, let's say, 5 years ? As I feel s21 ultra is quite outdated

i'll be sticking with the s22 ultra, it just doesnt seem revolutionary enoough, apart from battery life and performance. Cameras are similar so yeah not worth 1500 for upgrading
I’ve got an iPhone 11 should I go for the 23 or 24

Well.. I have the S23 Ultra and the Pixel 8 pro.. But it’s something about apple I can’t let go… so I’ll go for the 15 pro max and keep that phone for the upcoming 4 years.

So your saying is good to get dirt cheap just like new refurbished 512 GB S23 Ultra 📱 $900 including Socal tax for 24 months $38.13 . Or should I hold my S10 for 2025 May so I could grab S24 Ultra for $36 for 24 months? I still use my S10 without any problems and also battery last full useage from 7AM~6PM still got 20% battery life. Oh yeah thanks to Spigen armored case which saved my S10 2024 now and probably until I get S23 or S24 Ultra refurbished.
The battery is amazing on the s24 ultra and I think that is worth it
