Hey, Rutle Dave ! Finally !! A true video on the Rutles musical and visual output !!! I have the 40th anniversary remastered lp and it sounds tremendous ! Only had the American vhs of the movie but I’ll get the 30th anniversary dvd now 👍 And guess what ? Your video lasted….a lunch time ✌🏻 See you next time, my friend !

Fantastic!!!!!!! I am blown about the Gang Goolie single. I don't know how I missed that,. You still need the vinyl of Archaeology and make sure it has the inner sleeve with it as some did not come with it. Excellent as always and keep it going!!!!!!!

Hi Robert, Yes it’s surprising what’s out there Rutles wise and the Ging Gang 45 was missed by a lot, easy obtainable thou! That vinyl sadly slipped through my Rutles net , but I’m looking and thanks for the info! Stay well!

....YES mate - I began selling up after George died , then my Dad ....but just vinyl first as I thought my hobby since 1978 had become my ....'active compensatory factor' ! All those sunshine holidays I could have had rather than blowing ££££ at the two record fairs I'd go to every month , in Blackburn for vinyl , then Manchester for cd's. I had a stall at the Adelphi in 2005 / 6 and 7 selling everything else , however I still buy decorative items ....like those great 3d posters from PYRAMID POSTERS ....and sent to LA recently to get the big Rubber Soul one !

Great presentation! What has always amused me most about the Rutles is all the time, care, thought, and energy they have put into being the pseudo-Beatles. The Rutles have done some clever and also some quite horrible tracks but usually anyway, guaranteed to raise a smile.

Nice summery of their output , your missing the CD only release of The Wheat Album , no vinyl release of this and also a “live” Rutles CD both available only via Neil’s website. I was lucky enough to get my vinyl copy of Archeology signed by Neil and John. John went spare when I presented the reissue of the DVD for him to sign and initially refused to sign this “bootleg” until Neil stepped in and told him that it was a legit recent re-release , then he was pissed off that he hadn’t been told about it! Living in the Cambridge area I also attended a very early unadvertised Rutles gig at the Corn Exchange where I think they were testing out the market for any Rutles reunion gigs , it went down well and a few years later he/they started to advertise a “proper” tour which they continued to then do every few years or so. One more quick story , John was the landlord for a local Cambridge pub and so was I and one day at a local cash n’ carry and after filling up my trolley I was faced with a huge queue to cash out and pay , cheesed off with the length of the queue I glanced behind me to see John equally as grumpy with the size of the queue that faced us. I politely inquired if he was “Barry Wom” and then spent the best part of half hour chatting to him , he was delighted to find that I knew of his career beyond being “Barry Wom” which I think was a bit of a bug bare to him.

Hi David, Yes missing those and the vinyl of Archeology too. They were both very kind and courteous when I met them both , I’ve got a recording of the show too from that night. I’ve seen a few videos from Johns you tube channel and he mentions about being on Lou Reeds album Transformer. I think he’s a great drummer and is very down to earth. Nice to read about your Rutles experiences ! Thanks for watching! Stay well!

I remember first hearing about the Rutles on the Internet when I was a kid (and no joke, i actually used to think it was pronounced "Rootles"), and I always thought about them as evil clones of the Beatles. I never listened to the Rutles' music because I'm usually not a huge fan of Beatles parodies.

I'd definitely prefer a Beatles tribute band over a really bad parody band any day, and I mean that as in the tribute bands actually grew on me. I actually went to see this one tribute band called the Cast of BeatleMania when they came to Elmwood Park, NJ, and they were amazing!! Makes me feel more happy to be a Gen Z Beatles fan. 😁
