The Running Man takes place in the dark dystopian future of 2019. The gang watches this movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and talks about the crazy premise, over the top characters, and if any of its predictions of the future came true? They also pick apart some of the most ridiculous one liners Arnold has ever delivered. How would you rank this movie and who is your favorite stalker in the movie?
NOTE: We forgot to mention it in the review but this movie was Written by Steven E. de Souza who's movies we have talked about before and directed by Paul Michael Glaser who played Starsky in Starsky and Hutch.

  • @SB-Out51d3R-

    @SB-Out51d3R-

    4 жыл бұрын

    It's likely because behind the year 2000,2020 was the next most-likely candidate for "end times". If you look-back at these kinds of movies,they were getting too close to "2000" for it to seem plausible that the world would break-down so soon. So,they picked another 20 yrs. furthr ahead(there's probably some algorithm or something that they considered,but w/e). That way,it would seem more believable... Also,there's something I remember from back around the 80's that said the world would likely be collapsing around 2020,if we made it even THAT far... However,from what I also remember,religious people claimed the Bible said the world would end in 2000-2001(I heard that A LOT,as my older relatives are quite religious)... So,maybe the less-religious hedged their bets closer to 2020 since it couldn't be around 2000. That,or people in general began to have doubts about it being 2000/2001,anymore...

While,the "Running Man" Movie would've been in production /at least/ before that(even if the movie came-out in Dec.,it would've taken too long to make for that 2 sync-up)... Apparently,it's actually possible it's the REVERSE(altho,unlikely,I think)... It seems that the "Running Man" characters are just based-on stereotypical "element" designs/concepts...

Robert Patrick as the T-1000 is a far more sinister antagonist, Sarah Connor becomes a psychotic badass, and it even has depth from start to finish, like Sarah commenting on John's relationship to the Terminator and learning the value of human life. The only bad part is the sappy line from Arnie about why people cry. Great movie from start to finish.
