Hey everybody, just a well-being fallout fan here who just wants to repair the walls in sanctuary Hills on PS4. I have carefully watched this video and I have successfully connected a series of rugs multiple times. However, even when a piece of fence hops on top of the rug, just as this video shows, it does not connect as the video says that it should. When I move the rugs, the fence does not move with it. I would love to get actual worthwhile suggestions and guidance on how to correct this problem, as opposed to the plethora of smug one liners I’m seeing in the comments here telling me I have a “skills issue” or some other variation of “git good.” if I have the patience to write a comment this long then I probably have more patience to learn this skill than you’re giving me credit for. Spare me the stereotypical gamer culture gatekeeping pissing contest. I don’t care how much better than me your wounded ego needs you to be. Save it for the therapist so many of y’all pretend you don’t need. I just want to learn how glitch rugs properly. 😅 Thanks.

Question(s): Are you referring to the junk fences? Because the regular fences do not work. Only junk fences (as far as I know). If it doesn't work by just placing it on the rug, try the "hold a" option that allows you to "select all". Any structure items like walls, floors, foundations, etc. do not work by just placing on the rug, you have to hold A (Xbox), hold E (PC), or hold X (PlayStation). I hope this helps. Came here to make sure I remembered how to rug, I did but I guess either Xbox patched it or the universe doesn't like me. Just wanted to fix the NPVC wall in far harbor

Beside rugs try using pillars, stairs that can be lowered in the ground (not all, look for those that does) Group select then, it gives more options.... Also where no ground put down a campfire first, then use pillar in the now present ground.

I've learned that if you crouch you have a chance of reclaiming the rug. It's a pain, but stow it instead of picking it up and you can get it back without moving the whole wall.

Wish this worked in the entrance to Vault 88, where the floor is next to the outer gate controls. Wanted to place a door in the mouth of the tunnel, but nothing can clip into the rock, even with the rug glitch.

the wooden shack foundations work like huge rugs which you can sink into the ground without group select, really weird item, the only item in the game that works that way to my knowledge

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'll place an object where I need it to be, then when I go to store or scrap the rug, it deleted everything, like they are fused together. How do I delete just the rug? (Ps the object im placing is the black leather flooring inside Home Plate)

I can put rugs on top of each other and manipulate them but as soon as i put anything on the second rug it doesnt stick.

The glitch does not work with structure items (like walls, floors, etc). It only work with them by using the "select all" feature by holding the select button. If it's not structure items you're having trouble with, make sure you are having the second rug kind of levitating above ground and when placing the item, make sure you look up while holding the item and it should kind of snap on the rug. (It's weird to explain, I showed it in the video). Other than that, what objects are you trying to place with the glitch? Maybe I can help out better knowing exactly what it is. Hope this helps!

I thought we had lost this years ago on consoles (I’m on PS-5 w the 60fps newest patch now), cause we used to do it to scrap / store the ‘bugged’ beds that you normally can’t highlight or remove from places like Abernathy or The Slog ! We also used to use it to clear the original Heavymachinegun turrets from Covenant (because you normally can’t select them and they contribute Zero to actual Defense, AND if they get destroyed, then they remain forever as Smoking / burned wrecks on the platforms, unable to ever be interacted with for the rest of your playthrough 😢..) Please, tell me I beg you, does this work on Those, too !! 🙏

Yo! I'm needing some help. It was working wonderfully a couple days ago, and now with walls and junk fences, it's not working. It goes red when I even walk in a house in sanctuary. I can't put it anywhere I want. Is there a fix?

Not that I'm aware of. Power armor tends to be pretty strict on its placement.

So can you use this glitch to build outside of the build boundaries? Like rebuilding the bridge in sanctuary

@@toddchubb3464 Yeah, I'm sure you're aware of the mods that expand settlement sizing. But I believe Bethesda put some pretty strict limits on the borders. I could be wrong though. I haven't seen many builds beyond the borders as well.

This doesn't work on PS5. Edit: Got it to work. The space between rugs and the object being placed is essential.

Ensure that the rug is extremely close or even touching the object you want to move when using the "select-all" feature. How close? Pretty much an inch away at most.

I'm on ps4 The rug glitch doesnt work with walls who fix each others But work with a unique object. Where is my error ? Edit : i have the answer : i deactivate all my mods and its work. Butvi dont know yet what mod cancel the trick

No longer works on pc either. Tested.

I m on series s, I can still lift big structures with the rug but I can t reroof sanctuary as shown in so many videos.

The roofs in sanctuary are very weird. I've noticed that if you have placed anything inside the houses, the roof will not want to place on the house. You really just have to play with it a lot.

@@Cb9611 That s the problem. I ve scrapped everything in the house, it s all nice and clean but when I move the roof into the house, no matter where I place the rug, it s highlighted in red.

imagine theres not a mod by now that just removes clipping of objects when in crafting mode 😂

Before the update the rug glitch work in anyplace infact..but now and after the update and the hold select "e" on pc is not working anymore...

@@Liomalios It still works for me. Are you using 1 or 2 rugs? How close are you to the object you're trying to select? Are you holding E on the first rug you placed down like in the video, the "selector" rug if you will?

yeah should still work, i’m pretty sure they’ll never patch this out. try using the big rugs for emporium, set the rug on like a ridge or a curb so it’s hanging in mid air a little bit, then hold the emporium and drag it along the ground and over the rug, you’re looking for the emporium to jump up slightly to know when it’s worked. it is a little bit fiddley with the big emporiums but it honestly does work.

Does this work with store emporium?

harder to do, but yes. the very large rug placed on a chain of smaller rugs works well for this

Make sure you're not holding the select button. Also, make sure you're far away from whatever you don't want to move.

@@Cb9611 doesn't work when just pressing the select button once, both rugs move together but it leaves the wall behind on ps5 (yes the wall was hovering off the ground and onto the rug)
